Captain's Quarters: Stunning Ocean views, and close to Halifax and Beaches

Captain's Quarters is a modern self-contained 1 bedroom accommodation set on main the main level, with its own private entrance. Enjoy the sunrises across the Bay from any of the rooms or from the large wrap around deck to the front with stunning Harbour and Ocean views.
The accommodation is set in a quiet community close to Halifax and the highly acclaimed Crystal Crescent beach and local trails.
The accommodation is ideal for couples but can easily accommodate a 3rd person if required by using the Delux self inflating air mattress.

The accommodation is a short walk to the wharf and local beach where guests can enjoy the beauty of the sea and views of the Harbour any time of year. It is a great location for swimmers, Water sports such a s Kyacks and sailing and popular for fishing. In the summer we have Ice cream at the Wharf and in the Autumn we offer Hot Chocolate and cookies.

The accommodation benefits from a walk in shower, full kitchen with dishwasher and open concept kitchen, lounge and dining room with a breakfast bar and wine cooler/ It offers ocean views from every room, Heat pumps and Air conditioning make the accommodation cozy or cool depending on the seasons requirements and guests can enjoy a Woodburning stove for a cozy night in whilst relaxing. watching the views or TV

Ketch Harbour has been a very popular destination choice for guests due to it's quiet location yet set in a location that enables guests to explore Nova Scotia tourist attractions such as Peggy's cove, Lunenburg, Halifax waterfront and the bay of Funday to name just a few. Crystal crescent beach is only a short drive away and has been voted one of the best beaches Nova Scotia offers with Crystal clear waters and many hikes around the area

It has its own private entrance and Free off road parking. High Speed internet is complimentary so you can browse or work from home.
We also offer a gas BBQ, a fire pit and have 2 Kyacks available for guests (subject to availability and T&Cs)

We do have outside security cameras mainly for wildlife (we have Bears, Deers, Racoons etc and other animals visit on the odd occasion)

Great place and location

Great place to come home to after traipsing around parts of Nova Scotia. The view from the living room were of the harbor which was really nice. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. We would go back here again.

We enjoyed our stay for nearly a week. Its a good location for touring some popular sites. Dom and Rachael were lovely and helpful, and the house was very clean and well stocked.

Idyllic location

Beautiful location, easy access to all places of interest, amazing views of the harbour from the private deck. The hosts will bend over backwards to accommodate you. Highly recommended, five stars.

We were absolutely delighted with the accommodation and surrounding area. This was our first direct booking of a VRBO holiday, having previously shared holiday rentals with family, who already live in Canada, so weren’t too sure of how it all works. I have to say the hosts Dom and Rachel were brilliant. Even though they were on vacation themselves at the time they were always on hand to answer any questions.As regards the actual accommodation: The views from the wrap around deck are so beautiful, the harbour just a short distance away and the locals so friendly. The kitchen and dining area had everything you might need to self-cater, lots of games, water dispenser, dishwasher, basically very homely. We could only spend four days there but wish we had more time. We would certainly, consider staying at Captain Jack’s Hideaway again, hopefully soon.

A Lovely Seaside Retreat

Ketch Harbor is quiet, scenic and smells great! Our unit was well equiped and comfortable. Nicely spacious for the 2 of us, and our furry family. Dom and Rachel were delightful and very accommodating. Will definitely reach out to them again!

Chill time at Capt. Jack's

Hosts Rachael and Dom (and Capt Jack!) were amazing. Friendly, attentive, accessible nd helpful. They gave us great tips for nearby hikes and we saw whales near the Chobucto Lighthouse at Duncan's Cove. The apartment was spotless and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Beautiful view of the harbor!

Extremely clean and will kept accommodations. Very nice view of the harbor from our deck, which was directly across the street from a fishing and swimming dock - fun in the early evening. Hosts were very enjoyable. The place deserves its 10 rating.

We loved every aspect of our stay. Great hosts who are friendly and gave excellent advice on local sites and offered extra thoughtful suggestions that met our needs. Property is worth checking out and has amazing views. Building is modern and is comfortable in every way.

Lovely and relaxing!

My husband and I wanted a comfortable and quiet place to land evenings after busy days in Halifax. This was the just the right spot! Ketch Harbor is an easy drive away from the city and this location is close enough to the cove in Ketch Harbor that you feel like you are part of a harbor village setting. Just the way to get away from the hub-bub of the city and relax - Mornings we would take walks around the waterfront and enjoy the peace. Domenic and Rachael were lovely hosts and were sure to let us know their favorite places all around the area for food, drink, hiking, and more. A very personable couple! The space is very clean and fresh, with everything we needed. Although their home is attached to the cottage/apartment you wouldn't know it; it is very quiet between the two spaces. A great location for a relaxing getaway.

Moving daughter to Dalhousie

Our family of five needed a three bedroom place fairly close to Halifax. Unit was clean, well equipped and nice decorating/linens. Only issue was no washing machine. A beautiful dock was just steps away. Close to a very nice beach. Owners were very helpful and knowledgeable of area.

Steps to Cove, Short Drive to Beach

My companion and I needed a 5-night stay in/near Halifax (NS) in early August. City hotel prices were ridiculously inflated, and so we thought we should try a seaside property for less cost and much greater ambiance. This Ketch Harbour residence is essentially a completely equipped 3-bedroom, independent unit of a house with a direct frontal view of the cove. All essential amenities were clean, attractive, and perfectly functioning; and it was easy to walk down to the immediate water and enjoy the vista of fishing boats and few small pleasure craft, the occasional fog which almost always evaporated as the sun rose, the sunsets and moonlight, etc. For a white-sand beach almost directly on the Atlantic, Crystal Crescent Beach is only a 10 min drive away and nearby is an old-school General Store with a delicious (fast-food) seafood operation, everything you could want for supplies, and even a boutique liquor store stocked with Nova Scotian-produced beverages as well as the offshore regulars. Our hosts were affable, knowledgeable about the local flora, fauna, and history, and were keen to make my companion and I feel genuinely welcome and spared neither expense nor their own comforts and leisure to make us feel very much at home. The only additions that they should contemplate would be cupboard space in the kitchen and perhaps a washer-dryer in the residence itself (though we could have used theirs). Dom and Rachael were superb conversationalists and absolutely gracious. We recommend Captain Jacks so, so highly. A great place to become acquainted with coastal Nova Scotia.

Beautiful, cozy home by the sea

Our stay was incredible, the house was lovely, clean, and well-maintained with a lot of personal touches. Hosts were beyond lovely and very helpful and responsive. The location was beautiful and very close to Halifax and beautiful beaches for day trips. We would absolutely stay here again!

Peaceful in a very beautiful place. Access to the city is only 20 to 30 minutes depending on time of day; but the traffic tends to disappear the last kilometers replaced by trees and the Atlantic.

We fell in love with this property due to its location and amazing sea/harbour views. it is close to the water and also only a short drive to the renowned Crystal Crescent Beach and trails. There are many trails to explore and set in a very quiet neighbour hood, yet close to shops (Spryfield) and also Halifax and the Airport

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

The Property was originally the community school until early 1970's. It has been modernised throughout and is only a few yards away from the Wharf and beach. It is a quiet community but offers several benefits besides the amazing Harbour and Ocean views. The property is set on 1 acre of land so not close to the neighbours and plenty of garden to relax in or enjoy a fire pit in the evenings.
