Scott and the team were so helpful upon arrival and the Akumal Direct team helped answer so many questions during booking. The condo was very comfortable- we were especially appreciative of the washer/dryer and extra linens. Very clean and well maintained. Plenty of cooking items. Great location with easy walking to restaurants, shops and activities. We love Akumal and Half Moon Bay!

Cute charm and great location

Loved this place and would go back ! Good location and quiet. Easy beach access, short drive to Tulum. Great communication with property. Well appointed. The only teeny drawback was that the master shower windows had no covering so neighbors could see into shower…. But we hung a towel over door to cover. Really cute and comfortable! Loved it, and recommend it!

There were a few hiccups, which were handled quickly & kindly. Juan & all of the ladies we communicated with were very friendly & attentive. Fantastic condo

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Perfect location right on the beach with the best equipped kitchen and thoughtful amenities I’ve ever had in a rental. For people who love to cook there was nothing missing - great knives, blenders, pans, quality dish ware, even a few starter spices and the reverse osmosis water is a great eco feature to eliminate plastic bottles. Staff were attentive and responded immediately when AC in the back bedroom broke & they brought in a new unit and repaired it within hours. A great unit to rent & enjoy a Mexican getaway.

A little piece of paradise.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo was an excellent choice. The sunrises were beautiful, and the location was close enough for us to do everything we wanted to do. It had all the amenities of home. The Master Bedroom and shower were amazing. We enjoyed our 8 nights here. The only improvement I could suggest is to fix the stove and oven. The burners did not burn hot, and took a long time to heat up a pan, and the oven would not come up to temperature.

Easy Breezy We still <3 Akumal!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 4th visit always so relaxing and as we have gotten to know the area better and better we are still finding amazing things to do. We chose this condo thinking it would be clean comfortable and well priced. It was all that more. Akumal Direct was great and the condo had little touches which made us feel like the owner cared about their guests. We will for sure be back! Super comfy and attention to detail. Of course even w a bit of sargasso view was fantastic!

20 years later!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was well maintained and was just like the photos online. Appliances were updated and worked.We had not visited since 2003 and was happy to see that Half Moon Bay had not changed as much as other places had, it was still pristene with a quite tranquility that we were hoping for. Half Moon Bay still has a very healthy reef to snorkel both north and south sides of the bay. The condo building’s outside gardens were beautifully manicured and our daily maid service was welcomed and appreciated. The large bedroom with king bed does need a new ceiling fan, only thing that didn’t work. All A/C units worked fine. We enjoyed swimming at Yal Ku lagoon.

Sargasso Sea

Beautiful Condo located right on the beach of Half Moon Bay Akumal. Staff was attentive and very helpful. Stove top/oven did not work properly during our stay which made our plans for home cooked meals very difficult. Groceries were much higher price than we expected for Mexico. The early arrival of the sargassum seaweed (beyond anyone’s control) totally ruined any opportunity to enjoy the beach. Condo owners did not have the manpower or means to effectively clean the beaches and the stench was overwhelming. Snorkeling and swimming were not enjoyable due to the extreme Sargassum levels. The community of Half Moon Bay is apparently looking into installing an experimental Sargassum barrier to help with the seaweed levels.. but reviews are not very optimistic. The people and community of Half Moon Bay with its restaurants and shopping were delightful. Unfortunately, without the beautiful Caribbean beaches this condo is way overpriced.

Thanks for your feedback, Kathy. We are sorry that you experienced the early arrival of sargasso. Yes, Half Moon Bay will be installing a barrier in May. The equipment is on the barge headed for Akumal. We are hoping for a big improvement in the beach conditions. We do advise all arriving guests that sargasso is affecting the property. Thanks for the heads up about the stovetop. Management is fixing the problem. Groceries are not inexpensive unless you shop in small local markets. One can count on the prices being comparable to the USA. Thanks for visiting Akumal. Akumal Direct Reservations.

Great location, comfortable apartment, fabulous view

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Playa Blanca #4. The unit is very large and spacious, and extremely well-equipped. Everything you could need in the kitchen, modern appliances including gas stove, and lots of snorkeling / beaching / swimming equipment too - fins, masks, life jackets, noodles, boogie boards etc.. The king bed is very comfortable, and the living room sofa is huge and comfy as well. Internet and Netflix worked fine. I would call the decor eclectic, funky, folksy - not chic and modern as the ad says. But that's not a criticism, it has a charming Mexican vibe and plenty of colour. There's no bathtub, although the ad shows one. The master now has a large tiled shower in the ensuite. But who needs a bath when it's 30 C / 85 F degrees outside? The ocean is steps from the apartment, and a great place to go for a soak. The reno isn't brand new, so there is the inevitable wear of salt air and damp. But unless you're expecting pristine, you won't be disappointed. It looks just like the pictures.

Fabulous!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Akumal and our stay at Playa Blanca. The condo is directly on Half Moon Bay with a balcony right on the beautiful beach. The condo was pristine and the daily maid service was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The grounds are immaculate…they even take the sand each morning. The condo is equipped with everything you could possibly need: cold AC, Coffee pot, blender, juicer, beach towels, ice maker, laundry room on premises…It’s decorated beautifully and uniquely.. you truly feel like you are in a Mexican home. The beach is lovely and sandy but it is a bit rocky for the first 15 feet into the water, so water shoes are a must. Once you pass the rocks, the snorkeling is wonderful. We saw bright fish, turtles, sting rays, sea urchins, coral, even an octopus! It’s totally worth a few rocks (they are generally smooth rocks and the sea is pretty calm). The condo sits in an exclusive private neighborhood with security and entrance passes. Just across the lane is a small market and there are several wonderful little restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. At the end, within walking distance is a snorkeling lagoon that is rich with sea life. Just outside the gate are many more shops and restaurants as well as the entrance to Akumal Beach, where you can swim with wild sea turtles. Our week here was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing vacations ever! GO!
