This well-cared-for Watauga Vista cabin has end-of-the-road privacy and enough space for the whole family or group. It's only a couple-minute drive back to the highway, so civilization isn't far. Drive into town to find local eateries, arts, entertainment, and an array of family-friendly attractions. Take one of the many nature hikes through the wilderness or play on the lake to make your vacation next-level. Relax on the top deck or patio by rocking in the rocking chairs, swaying on the porch swings, lounging in the hot tub, or peeking out at the long-range view through the telescope to find unique wildlife.

Inside you'll find a bright interior with plenty of space for all! The living area invites you to have great conversations around the fireplace, take in a move on the large TV on the mantle, or play a round of air hockey. Gather at the formal dining table to make memories of eating home-cooked meals or playing a competitive board game. Hobby chefs will love preparing dishes in the spacious kitchen equipped with stainless steel appliances and all the cupboard room you'll ever need. With five beds, there's more than enough room for everyone to have a comfortable night's sleep. Have fun together in the game room, where you'll find a ping pong table, a pool table, more air hockey, and a TV. Dine alfresco on the deck by the fire table and tell ghost stories. Relax at the end of the day in one of the roomy showers.

Although the cabin needs some attention like dusting and we did have some mouse droppings in one cabinet of master bedroom. The cabin provides an outstanding breathtaking mountain view along with alot of games to keep you entertained. The place overall was clean with lots of toiletries. The trash in the kitchen was already full when we arrived though. We loved the pool table, Table tennis and shuffleboard. The drive up the mountain was scary but the view was worth it. We gave my husband a wonderful 50th birthday suprise trip to the mountains. I do wish the cabin how air as even in the winter i love cold air and would of appreciated ac. Overall, loved the trip and would recommended

The hot tub at the property is not at nice or as big as the one in the pictures, nothing wrong with it, just don’t expect the one pictured. Everything else was great.

Absolutely beautiful location. Can’t beat the views! The drive up is a little intimidating if you’re not used to mountain driving, but is otherwise great. We have a Toyota Sienna van and it made it up the hills just fine. The cabin is older, but we loved how cozy it was so it wasn’t an issue. Overall a wonderful spot to stay! 10/10

The views were amazing. The hot tub and table top fire place were a great touch. The drive up the mountain was a little nerve wracking but so worth it for the views!

Great view, poor management.

The view was great, and you can tell the owners use the property. Management company, Vacasa, let the property down. Cleaning crew was still there hours after check and we let them leave knowing the kitchen wasn’t clean, but there was no soap for the 1/2 bath or in the shower. They were aware the property had been struck by lightning but they didn’t check anything and we had no TV/wifi or hot tub for the entire week. All the lights in the garage/rec room were bad and the kids had to pull some bulbs from their bedrooms. Grill ran out of propane and the extra tank there was empty. The first mouse sighting had a kids running out of the bathroom. On Tuesday they said the hot tub should be serviced today or tomorrow, just needed a sensor. On Friday they said the part would be two weeks. We should have demanded a refund at check in and just got to a hotel and been able to enjoy the week. I will actively try to avoid Vacasa properties, but if the owner switches management companies we’d go back.

Enjoyed our stay. House was perfectly located for what we wanted to do. It was clean and had everything we needed. Loved the view, hot tub, and space. Microwave was a little iffy but managed to make it work every time. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful views, nice home

The views here are absolutely amazing. Loved all the porches and the swings. Plenty of space for our family of 7. The wifi was slow but was enough for us to wind down in the evenings watching tv. Great location to many attractions. The downside - the microwave did not work. And the trash was never picked up

The views are absolutely stunning. The pictures dont do it justice. We really just hung out at the cabin and played games for an entire week without anyone getting bored (3 teenagers with us).

Perfect Setup (Not-so-perfect upkeep)

Perfect layout for our family for vacation. Nice amenities like hot tub and shuffle board. Upkeep is lacking, though. Ping pong table is in pretty terrible shape with not a single decent paddle for use. The hot tub had quite a bit of grime in it. The microwave was extremely dysfunctional which made it difficult for our family of 9. We had already purchased groceries planning several meals for the microwave to learn on arrival the microwave had to be unplugged to reset it after every use. Tolerable, just annoying. Reported to owner, who apologized, but no remedy offered. No outside lights (that we could find) on the driveway side of the house. So it made going out to the car at night time a no-go. Lastly, if you don’t like steep mountain roads, it’s not the place for you. We travel a great bit and these were by far the steepest roads we’ve ever traversed. All in all, we would stay again. Just wish the owners would step up the upkeep as it is almost a five star stay.

Great family house

My family had a great stay in this house! We loved how much space we all had to spread out and really enjoyed the game room. We cooked several meals at the house and enjoyed the hot tub as well.

Everything we as described. Countertops and more lighting is about the only downside. We enjoyed the playroom with all the games. It was a quick weekend with my son graduating so didn't stay long.

Amazing Views but Needs Maintenance

My family and I spent the holidays enjoying the scenery, festive decorations, and spaciousness of the property. However upon arrival we spent almost two hours cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. Both seemed not have had a thorough clean for quite a while. The fridge was disgusting with food remnants, sticky residue and hair. The shower head in the bathroom was so dirty that we had to go and buy cleaning products to remove caked on grime and filth before using it. Some of the pots, cutlery, and plates were also visibly dirty. The kitchen countertops were sticky and sides peeling off.

College Tour

Unfortunately, the electronic lock was broken upon arrival but we were able to access the house with a physical key from a contractor box on the porch. The cabin had an amazing view, was clean and well stocked with everything you need except toilet paper. All three bathrooms only had half a roll. Of the four bedrooms, two were unusable (master and bunk room) as there was an electrical issue leaving them with no power or heat. There were no tripped breakers and no gfci’s leaving us baffled why the two bedrooms were without power. The temps were in the 30’s at night and 50-low 60’s during the day so heat was definitely needed. I called and texted the management company, and they said they would reach out to the local office to get someone out to fix it. We were there four days and three nights and no one came. I called and texted multiple times and only received a reply of “sorry for the inconvenience”. Even though the cabin was beautiful, we would not rent again unless the owners switched property managers.

It was less than an hour all around from waineville , highlands , Cherokee ! Great location. We always travel with truck with 4x4 and the drive to cabin is steep and we had no problem !
