Escape to the Knotty Shack, a unique tiny log cabin featured on the Visit Mt. Rainier website. This romantic retreat for two boasts handcrafted woodwork, an indoor fireplace, and a private hot tub under the stars. Perfect for couples seeking a cozy getaway near stunning hiking trails. Enjoy modern amenities in a one-of-a-kind rustic setting.


As you enter, you will be struck by the intricate, handcrafted custom woodwork that makes this tiny home truly one-of-a-kind. Despite its cozy size, the cabin boasts all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay for two.

* Relax by the cozy indoor fireplace.
* Unwind in your own private hot tub, perfect for stargazing after a day of adventure.
* Stream your favorite shows on the 24-inch smart TV (bring your own streaming accounts).

Kitchen & Dining:
* A fully equipped kitchen with a full-size stove and refrigerator.
* Keurig coffee machine for your morning brew.
* All the cooking essentials you need to prepare meals.
* Please note: There is no indoor dining table or dishwasher.
* Enjoy alfresco dining on the patio, complete with a BBQ grill and a fire pit for cozy evenings.

Storage:
* Space is limited and there are no closets, but we provide two luggage racks for your convenience.



Guests will have private access to the entire Knotty Shack tiny cabin, including the private hot tub, patio, BBQ grill, and fire pit area. You will also have access to the shared community lake, where you can fish, swim, or simply soak up the sun. Explore the surrounding hiking trails and enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the Ashford area.

We aim to give our guests complete privacy to enjoy their retreat. We will not be present during your stay, but our local contact is just a phone call away should you need anything. In the event of a power outage, our own communication may be delayed, but our local support remains available to assist you.


* Seasonal Road Closures: FOREST ROAD 52 / SKATE CREEK ROAD, which travels between Packwood and Elbe, is often closed, especially during the winter months. Please check road conditions before traveling.

* Power & Internet: Being in the mountains, power and internet can be intermittent due to weather. However, the Knotty Shack is equipped with a built-in generator, so you won't have to worry about power outages! You can even enjoy the hot tub during an outage. The cabin also has fiber optic internet.

* Security: For your security and ours, a camera is installed on the exterior of the cabin, pointing at the driveway.

Perfect for our stay! Easy to find, to get into the park. It was wonderful to come back and use the hot tub. The cabin was very well stocked for all we needed. Able to do laundry. Wish we could have stayed longer and would stay again! Highly recommend!

The Knotty Shack is amazing. It is very inviting and cozy. The cabin had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the hot tub.The hot tub was heated and ready to use.The neighborhood was great for an evening walk.

Peace and quiet

Such a wonderful getaway! I could feel tension in my shoulders lessening on first day. Went to see Mountain and it was amazing, it was a beautiful day to have sunshine and warm weather. Host responded quickly when I had a question. I will be back I tried to include pics, but couldn't figure it out.

Quiet and lovely

This was such a cute cabin to stay in- just enough room for two of us. Close to Mt. Rainier Park and local restaurants. A perfect place to stay while exploring the area. Very clean with welcoming touches!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

This property was cozy and peaceful. We loved the hot tub, the fire, and how close we were to the National Park. The only issue we had was for someone of bigger size, the shower was a bit small, but still manageable. We would stay here again for sure if given the opportunity.

Love the Knotty Shack!

Wonderful property, great interior and exterior details, love the firepit, BBQ, and hot tub, the Knotty Shack is the perfect size for a couple. Less than 10 minutes from the quaint town center.

Perfect Cabin

The Knotty Shack was the perfect cabin experience. Cozy and Cute! The cabin was clean and had all the amenities we needed to be comfortable. We loved the decor! The hosts communicated with us and were very nice and welcoming. This cabin location cannot be beat! You will be very close to Mt Rainier’s park entrance, and it was an easy drive back north to SeaTac to fly home.

Tiny house

Very small cute log cabin. Definitely for only 2 people. Home is as described. Kitchen was well stocked including snacks, coffee, tea, etc. Washer and dryer are in the bathroom. Great outside area which we did not use since we were in the park most of the time.

Raised as a "military brat", I was lucky to travel the world. No surprise my family decided to settle in Washington State. My trips to Mt. Rainier have always held a special place in my heart. My husband Patrick came for a visit in the mid 80's and fell in love with the mountain. Now we are lucky enough to have a cabin near the Paradise entrance. We recently also acquired the "Knotty Shack" and are happy to continue to rent it as a short-term rental.
