Incredible Private Island Retreat on 85 Acres

This private island vacation rental is located an hour East of San Fransisco in the California Delta close to Discovery Bay.
It offers an array of cabins totaling 7 bedrooms, 8 baths, and a central lodge with a large kitchen. This is the ideal place for boating, fishing, water sports, swimming, campfires, or exploring the 1.3 mile private island loop. With plenty to do on and off the island, make this your next vacation spot! Perfect for large families, Groups of friends, or corporate events.
NOTE!! This is an Island, and is not directly accessible by car.
If you do not have a boat there are many boat rental companies in the area. The most popular for our guests is CB rentals in Discovery Bay. They have a collection of platform boats that are great for groups, and there the rates are very reasonable. Many of our guests have said renting from them was a great experience!

There are around 60 goats & sheep, on the island that help control the vegetation. They are friendly & adorable, and may come up to you to say ‘HI’. If you have a dog, you need to be carful and keep them in control around the goats.

FAQ: Boat required for access. Note, ramp up from dock is fairly steep, and may be difficult for people with mobility issues. There is a caretaker on-site (about a block down from the rental houses), sevral exterior security cameras (facing dock & deck)

Several families gathered to celebrate Labor Day weekend to enjoy this beautiful island on the Delta! We brought our ski boat and fishing poles and were literally in heaven on earth!

We loved our stay!! Vibes are immaculate, beds are comfy, the space is well laid out for a large group, and the owners are very responsive. We rented a pontoon boat from CB’s. We’ll be back next year!

2025 Grads Getaway Celebration

Since five of our family graduates graduated the same weekend and couldn’t attend each other’s celebrations, we celebrated at Fay Island for one week. Fay Island offered accommodations for 24 people, which was perfect for our group size.- Very private with friendly goats.- Cottages and platform houses for lodging with AC.- Main Lodge/Kitchen area had excellent air conditioning and was able to comfortably accommodate everyone for three meals a day.- Boating from large platform docks afforded easy accessibility to ski boats and pontoon boat. - Convenient close by marina for gas.- Excellent communication with Host and Caretaker.

Perfect Memorial Day location for a birthday celebration

The island is a wonderful place for kids to play and roam (without getting lost). The setting is perfect with a private dock in a "no wake" zone so you don't have boats speeding past all day. Tons of birds great you in the morning with a beautiful sunrise across the river and the open fields. Sunset is just as magical with Mt Diablo in the distance and goats roaming in the meadow nearby.This is the Delta (not Disneyland), so set your expectations accordingly. It's a great place for family and friends to come together for a fun and relaxing time. There were 20 of our family members ranging from 5 to 70 and everyone left with a smile.There was an issue with the cleaning of the rooms that our host assured us was a very unusual situation due to a high school graduation ceremony in the family of the people that take care of the cleaning. The communications with the host was very good however, and the issues we encountered were easily dealt with.Bottom line ... would we stay here again? Absolutely!

Fantastic break

Save the air trip to Montana and come here for a peaceful ranch experience. The stress of the Bay Area fades as you approach the dock. Starlink WiFi lets you stay in touch with blinding speed if you choose to check in. Otherwise, fish, hike, goat watch, barbecue, stargaze, fire pits….

Island life is a thing!

5 families (10 adults, 7 kids) came to Fay Island for thanksgiving, and every single person had a blast. The boat renting from CB in Discovery Bay was easy and the boat was fun to tour around during the day. The main houses were spacious and there were more than enough beds. And the kitchen was great for our cooking a giant meal while the TV had the football games. Host communication was quick and easy, and the caretaker who was sometimes on the island was also very helpful. The local marinas (Holland for pickup/dropoff and Bullfrog for gas and snacks) are easy to get to and park. And the goats on the island were the surprise hit, the kids loved following them around and feeding them leaves they couldn't reach. For a trip that felt more like an adventure than a vacation, everything worked out really well. Next time we'll come back when the water is warmer :-)

Ideal Island Getaway!

We had an amazing multi generational weekend at Faye Island! Quick 15 min boat ride from Discovery Bay or short 10 min ride from Bullfrog Marina where your guests can park for free! Accommodations were plentiful, well appointed and clean. Everything was accurately depicted on VRBO listing. We had a wide range of ages from 84 to 6 months and this property had something for everyone! I can’t rave enough about how wonderful this property is. We’re definitely coming back next year!

Another Great Stay at the Island

This was our third stay at the island, and it did not disappoint again! We had seven adults and 10 kids for two nights of endless fun and adventure. The island is a magical place.

Family Fun

Our family of 4 generations, ages 12-90, all had a great time on Fay Island. We all had our own cabins which were very comfortable. The kids swam off the dock, hiked around the property and really enjoyed the canoes that were there. It was peaceful and we enjoyed the birds and otters that we saw. The fishing was great. We even had our own private air show as the planes were practicing right over our heads. Communications with the owner and caretaker were great. No problems. The kids voted to rent Fay Island again next year!

So fun and beautiful!

We LOVED our stay at Fay Island! We had a large group of friends all stay for a long weekend and we had a blast. The island has it all - comfy beds, large kitchen, big dock to hang out on, BBQs, large pots and pans for cooking, and a beautiful trail around the perimeter of the island. The house was extremely well stocked for fun in the water with floaties, kayaks, and life jackets. There was a pump to blow up the floaties, and a big speaker to use. The kitchen and living room is in a separate structure than the bedrooms, which we loved so that people could go to bed at any time and the folks that wanted to stay up didn’t have to worry about disturbing the people sleeping. We rented a pontoon boat from CB’s pontoon boats and they were also amazing, and helped us with gear transfers too.

Family reunion

Such a great property for a family reunion. Plenty of space to be enjoyed together or to spread out. We had an infant, kids, teens and adults, and all had a great time. The goats are super friendly and fun. We will definitely be back!

Amazing Extended Family Retreat

This is our second year staying at Fay Island for our family summer vacation. What a special and unique vacation rental. Easily accommodates our group of over 20. It’s a wonderful location for the boaters and nature lovers. We love having everyone together. We will definitely be back!!

Amazing property and location

Fay Island is the perfect spot for a large group to stay on the delta. It has all the amenities you need, including inner-tubes, kayaks, fully stocked kitchen, outdoor deck with grills, etc. It’s on the fast water so you can do sports right from the house. I couldn’t recommend this place more for a large group, you will seriously have so much fun.

Nothing short of AMAZING!!

This place is not fancy but it has everything you need and then some. The island to yourself is such an experience. The owner and property manager are extremely accommodating. We were a group of 20 and everyone had their own space to get away from the chaos or the lodge to join in the chaos! We played games, took nature walks, did a little skeet shooting, boating, jet skiing and much more! We have already started planning our next stay. :)

Fantastic

We hosted an epic family reunion on Fay island. Kids ages 18mo—12years all caught fish. The deck is perfect for watching as the little ones learned to water ski. The caretaker and host were very attentive and fixed some issues with a broken AC unit and shower door as soon as they could. The club house central dining area was perfect for gathering to eat and host a bbq. We brought a baby pool and slip n slide for the deck which was perfect on the fake turf and kept the little kids super entertained. We are really grateful for the chance to stay at Fay.

Annual retreat

We have been enjoying Fay Island for years hosting our annual retreat. Since it has been converted to a formal VRBO, there have been numerous upgrades that enhance what is already a spectacular property. We brought a private chef who enjoyed the numerous options for cooking, grilling, and smoking. We planned meals to reflect the Duck Club history. Sunsets are spectacular. The caretaker on the island did a great job with a few of our unanticipated needs. It was a perfect retreat.

Amazing property!

My friends and I had a blast staying at Fay Island. It was so great and fun to have the whole island to ourselves. We got to enjoy the sunshine, jump into the river, and explore the nature there. One night the goats even came to say hello to us near their pen! The rooms and cabins were very comfortable and there was more than enough space for everyone. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique and adventurous experience.

Unforgettable birthday gathering!

We enjoyed using the fully-equipped kitchen and bbq, the kayaks, lifevests, and fishing gear and had so so so much fun! Truly, it is a one-of-a-kind place on earth; what an exceptional location to celebrate a 40th!

Perfect for a group getaway!

We stayed on Fay Island with 20 friends (no kids!) for my husband's 50th birthday weekend. We had the MOST amazing time—nobody stopped smiling for three days straight! We rented a ski boat and a pontoon boat and spent relaxing mornings drinking coffee on the deck, afternoons out on the boats, followed by late afternoon naps, cards or backgammon, sunset cocktail cruises, BBQ dinners on the deck, late night dance parties, and even a bonfire! The property owner and manager were super responsive and friendly and have pulled out all the stops to make this place so special. Additional shout-outs to Cathy and Jeff at CB's Pontoon Rentals, Derek at Bay Area Boat Rentals, Carl at Bullfrog Marina and Brian at B-Boys BBQ for exceeding all expectations. It takes a village to pull off a three-day birthday extravaganza without a hitch and we couldn't have done it without you! Can't wait for next year.

A Great Test Run

We have scheduled a 40th birthday gathering at Fay Island in June, so we did a test/reconnaissance stay there this week. It was super, and we look forward to the next visit. So peaceful and comfortable... and the owners have big plans for future improvements. We loved it.
