Large Studio With Outdoor Patio

This spacious studio apartment in a very convenient location is furnished with antique wooden cabinets, desk, table, two large victorian sofas, a very comfortable queen-size bed, with modern overhead track lighting compensating for a limited amount of natural light. The well-stocked kitchen is very small with a gas stove and microwave, offering four different ways of preparing coffee. The walk-through bathroom to the outdoor patio is adequate. The private outdoor space would make this apartment a very pleasant place to stay particularly during the warmer months. It’s one of our best NY rentals to date.

A gem in a suberb location

We loved this W. 88t St. apartment! The location is fantastic, only a half block from Central Park and near the 86th St. Subway stop. The owner was a joy to deal with. The apartment has everything you need and is only a few steps down from the sidewalk. We have stayed in many different UWS apartment rentals through the years and this one stands out for its location and value.

Ohne Abstriche empfehlenswert - die Lage ist sensationell: 100m vom Central Park und Subway und falls die Füße einen abends nicht mehr weit tragen: auf der Ecke ein sehr guter Italiener in dem die Nachbarschaft sich trifft - und wo man auch nur ein Glas Wein trinken kann...

Third visit, will come again!

This is my third stay in the building, and my first in this unit. It’s a great building , close to the subway, stores and park. Dov is always very responsive and helpful. I can’t wait to come back!

Upper West Side Gem

I enjoyed the apartment a lot ...it’s clean, spacious & well located. It’s also a very safe neighborhood. My only complain is the upstairs occupants are very very noisy. Heavy footing & seem to be walking back & forth a lot The plates & cups are chipped & mismatched. Otherwise it’s good.

great groundfloor studio apt in UWS

This was a perfect stay -- we'll definitely return to this apt. Upper west side is a great launching point for exploring NYC and this apartment is in a quiet block between Central Park West and Columbus. Tons of restaurants in the area, easy access to subway, park, museums, etc. The apartment itself is comfortable and quiet. Ground floor and in the back -- we did sometimes hear people going up and down the stairs by us, but no street noise at all. Not at all fancy, but also well furnished. Comfortable bed, sofas & sitting area, square dining table w/ 4 chairs. Kitchen is minimal: I wouldn't want to cook much more than breakfast in it, but you're in NYC and probably eating out. There's a little patio in the back which seemed like it would be great, but it had been raining a lot before our stay and there was standing water serving as mosquito breeding grounds. But the park is just a block away so we had plenty of space to be outside. Compared to a hotel room, it's bigger and more comfortable, in a better local neighborhood, and cheaper. Check in and out was easy: code to access the building and no need to chase someone down to get the key.

Great location and a good fit for our needs!

The property is as described. It was safe & comfortable but not luxurious. It was very close to the park, subway, and many shops and restaurants. The back patio could be so nice but we didn’t use because it needed a good cleaning. We had no problems while there and would stay again if we came back.

Great location but no frills

The apartment is in a great location and does meet basic needs. It was a good price but could have had a few more amenities and cleaner furnishings. Limited assistance from host but booking went smoothly.

Fabulous location, very comforable

We loved our stay in Dov's studio. It was spacious and still cozy, with a very comfortable seating area and a well-equipped kitchen. While it was too cold to use the patio, it's a great addition and I know we would spend a lot of time there on warmer visits. The access to the 8th avenue subway was a real plus. Great restaurants nearby. We hope to make this our home-away-from-home on our annual NYC visits.

Good Alternative to a Hotel in a Great Location! 4.5/5 stars

Enjoyed staying here while on business in the City. While not as plush as a hotel, it was quiet, comfortable and in a fantastic location a block from the subway, Central Park, restaurants, bars, stores, etc. The only minor issue was the items left by the previous tenant in the bathroom and kitchen, hence the 4.5 stars. High Speed internet and a great pour over coffee maker where a bonus. I'd definitely stay here again if I get the chance.

Really Special

We are currently renting so I thought I'd give an up date to the previous comments. Dov, the owner and manager just finished giving the place a "fluffing". New wood floors, brand new bathroom sink and commode. All the faucets have been replaced. Its just panted with new lighting......heads-up there are no closets-two old but functional storage cabinets, and of course a new flat-screen TV. The best part for us is the private back yard right out of the bathroom. The birds sing its so private. This is a one of a kind apartment in the perfect location-we know we were UWS residents for 25 years.....This goes a long way in helping to replace our condo. Its an old building, and parts of the apartment shows it, its a large space for NY. You'll love it here, its a 3 season gem-winter you loose the garden. We'll be back next June for sure. Hopefully the pictures will be put back on the walls, and he might want to build a wall of closets to replace those dressers, then it will be perfect!

We would definitely recommend travelers to avoid this apartment, unless they are not able to find another apartment in Manhattan and if you just need a bed; otherwise you will be sad in this place .. Photos appear to have been taken 30 years ago; he is old, worn dirty looks; The worst is the bathroom;

1-Month Stay - Great location, quiet, pet friendly

We just left after spending a month in this garden apartment, located in the back of a building on a very quiet brownstone street on the UWS. It's a relatively large studio, and the two of us plus our small dog had plenty of room. The apartment has a large dining table, a couch and coffee table, a TV, queen bed, plus two large closets (some of the closet space is filled with various apartment items). We stayed in the winter and were not able to make use of the private yard, but that is a wonderful thing to have if it's not snowy! The apartment is older and dated, but it is comfortable. The kitchen has very basic amenities, and the bathroom is stocked with a few necessities and plenty of towels. Pros: * Excellent location! Half-block from the subway. * Easy street parking if you are bringing a car * Pet friendly! Plus, there is a Little Creatures on Columbus less than a block away. * Very, very quiet. No street noise, and we only heard neighbors a few times * Good sleep quality, the bed is comfortable * Internet and TV worked great * Good size studio, did not feel cramped * Lots of outlets and closet space * Shower had great water pressure * The owner is extremely responsive and accommodating. Easy check-in. Cons: * As others have mentioned, the apartment could use some touching up. The bathroom is especially dated. * Bring slippers as the wooden floor can be uneven * Goes without saying in this type of vacation rental, but do not plan on cooking outside of very basic meals. We planned ahead and brought certain items to use in the kitchen, you may want to as well. * If you are staying in the winter, know that you cannot turn off the boiler. We had the air conditioner on and windows open to combat the heat. I would return if needed, and do recommend this apartment to those who are OK with this style of traveling and understand that this is a very basic apartment with many positives. What you give up in amenities and "luxury" you gain in location, price, convenience, and pet friendliness.

LOCATION ..and a great apartment

we are former new Yorkers and wanted to stay on the upper west side this trip. this apartment is in the most perfect location with transportation to everything closeby. but you can also walk a few blocks In any direction and have everything you need. the apartment is old ... but it was extremely clean. the owner provides anything you can possible need for your vacation. we were extremely comfortable here. and... a garden to step out into for your meals... what else could one want. we loved it and will definitely rent this for next year.

Great place with private patio

Although the apartment doesn't look like much from the outside of the building, it's a spacious studio with a fabulous back patio that we sat in every morning. The bed is comfortable and the shower has great pressure! For us, that's crucial. The location is fabulous, steps from the subway. Apartment is clean and there's enough utensils in the kitchen to make a meal or two. Would certainly recommend this property. It's much more spacious than your average hotel room, but if you're wanting fancy go elsewhere. But we'll be back!

Not as described

When we arrived July 2,2013 the entry hall was very dirty. The apartment itself was also dirty. The toilet leaked water onto the bathroom floor with the first flush. The couch fabric was ripped. The door to the patio could not be opened. We could not stay. Unfortunately, we were not refunded our deposit and ended up spending more than expected to stay at a different (clean) place.

The apartment is in dire need of improvements! The bathroom is awful, the garden has a fountain initial which does not work so the Mosquitos were plentiful and the overall condition....well would NOT stay again. The price is good but as they say " you get what you pay for"

We stayed in the apartment late July. it is an excellent place. it acceded our expectations . very reasonably priced . clean and convenient walking distance to museums restaurants, shops, central park is around the corner and the subway is right there.the garden is an added bonus. its quiet and completely private.

Second Time Here

We liked this studio apartment so much last year that we decided to come back. And again, we weren't disappointed. It's spacious with a functional kitchen, and best of all, it has a private garden. We cooked several times and had lunch outside more than once. The bed is very comfortable. The apartment is quiet and very close to the subway and Central Park. Dov is responsive and accommodating. We'll definitely be back again.
