Escape the crowds and relax in the solitude of the Green Mountains of Vermont. Being right next to Stratton and close to Mount Snow, Bromley, Magic Mountain and Okemo it's an obvious choice for skiers and boarders in the winter, but all the seasons are a great time to visit. Enjoy our private brook front beach or hike to a nearby waterfall or swimming hole and float in a river tube with a cold beverage. The best local swimming hole is just a 1 minute walk down Water Street. There are many hiking trails just out the door in Jamaica State Park. Just download the AllTrails app! There’s also great kayaking and fly fishing in the West River. Or you can hang at River & Rye our local whisky bar/restaurant, that often has live music, just a 2 minute walk from the house or West River Provisions next door our local grocery/deli, where you can get just about anything you need and they have an awesome selection of wine and beer and a great deli. There's also a few interesting stores/galleries to explore and an Austrian bakery, Skinny Goose, where you can enjoy some decadent treats with a cappuccino on their patio next to a fire pit. Our farmhouse has the ultimate screened-in porch with seasonal views from the large 2 person hammock. There's also comfortable seating, an icebox, a ceiling fan, dart board, gas grill, a wood burning fireplace (also with small grill) and a nice salt water hot tub. The porch can seat 12-14 adults for family/group fireside dining on two folding beer garden tables, (normally stowed away in the kitchen). Chefs will enjoy the local farmers' markets and feel right at home in our well equipped eat-in kitchen which can accommodate up to 8 at the farm table, plus 3 to 4 more at the bar. There’s one obvious master suite, but 3 couples + a few kids are well accommodated, each feeling almost like they have their own luxurious suite. The downstairs Queen bedroom, living room and connected bathroom is sometimes used as a guest suite and has its own refrigerator and coffee maker. The other king bedroom is upstairs in a large private space once used for drying herbs, but now also accommodates a ping pong table. WiFi is strong through high speed Xfinity cable internet. There are 3 smart flatscreen televisions and 3 Sonos wireless speakers throughout the house. While we are located in the Green Mountain National Forest, we are not in the sticks. There are village sounds you will hear along with the sounds of our babbling brook. The property also has a large fenced in yard with a fire pit surrounded by 6 adirondack chairs, perfect for s'mores and stargazing, also an organic vegetable garden, fruit trees and berry bushes available to our guests. We are new to VRBO, but have been hosting for many years on other platforms with great reviews.
