Great stay on Lake Whitney. Easy check-in and no issues during our stay. Great location and enjoyed swimming in the lake and fossil hunting at the property.

Wonderful Hostess

Very nice property. Older but well appointed. Accommodates quite a few people comfortably. Wonderful outdoor deck for entertaining. The drive access is challenging. Otherwise an excellent choice for this area on Lake Whitney,

My kids begged to stay longer

The house was clean and had everything you would need. Plenty of dishes and cookware. Even though the hike down to the lake was pretty rough, we LOVED having our own little private lake access. The road to the driveway is very steep and broken on both sides, don’t drive your car if it’s lowered like my husband did lol. We also loved the master suite!

Family trip

We enjoyed our short stay at the Home away from Home. Left a day early due to weather. The views of the sunset from the deck are amazing! The deck is really a great place to hang out and relax. Walking down to the water is a hike but the water in the cove is deep and a fine swimming spot.

family vacation

We had a family group of 9 staying, house was plenty big for all of us. Getting down to the lake was difficult for a couple of the members of our party, was just unable to make it down definitely need to be fit to make your way down!! Swimming and playing in the was great for those that did make it down. fishing wasnt great, but weather played a big part in that can't control when & where the fish bite!! On arrival house was a little dirty but nothing major. Overall we had a great vacation, communication was great with owner always quick to answer any questions.

Little Hidden Gem

This was the first time we have stayed at Lake Whitney. And we were pleasantly surprised, considering with the extreme drought in central Texas. It is a GREAT lake. Though, a lot of homes do not have lake access, this one does. There were 15 of us, which 6 of those are between the ages of 2-7. We always look for a place that has lake access and enough rooms to accommodate each family so everyone has their own space. After reading the reviews regarding the hill, lake access and such, I reached out Barbara and she was AMAZING. Barbara communicates well and very efficiently. She addressed all my questions and concerns about safety for the kids. We had ZERO issues The hill is quite the hike back up if you are not physically fit. However, each on of our grand children were able to navigate the hill and the stairs with no issues what-so-ever. We took our kayaks, paddle board, rafts and canoe down to the water and left them there over night throughout the long weekend. The cove was PERFECT for lots of family activities and entertainment. Wear water shoes! The house was clean. Yes, it is an older home. But it is comfortable. The beds are comfortable. The little suite upstairs was a life saver for my husband and I to get away from the chaos of a big family. You literally cannot hear much up there. And with the 100+ degree weather we had, it stayed pretty cool. The sunsets are stunning. Thank you Barbara for a wonderful FUN family weekend filled with GREAT memories

Horrible stay

First off with as much money as they arebgetting renting this property, it looks like they would fix their drive way. 2nd off house was dirty when we got in, floors hadnt been swept, there were crumbs in our beds. The yard hadnt been mowed so kids couldnt really play, the steps down to the lake were absolutely horrible, the railing to hold on to wobles and my sister in law broke her leg this weekend walking down. There are weed plants growing down by the water, there were beer bottles and cans down by the water it was absolutely horrible!!! The house when we left this morning looks great because we actually cleaned it. I also now have pink eye, we as a family take a vacation every year for the kids to have a great time, but this was the worst place we have ever rented and i will never recommend this place. I may actually talk to a lawyer because we took pictures of everything wrong. Tvs not in every room, the laundry room they put 2 twin beds in it for a room the bathrooms were absolutely uncomfortable, when you sit down your knees hit the counters. One room tv didnt work at all thank goodness my son brought his xbox so he could watch tv. I will be talking to someone because this is illegal

Best friends/family fun on Lake Whitney!

We have rented this property a couple of times previously and it never disappoints! We had 18 in beds on Saturday night - very rare to find a house that sleeps so many so comfortably! The stairs down to the water are a challenge but have handrails the entire way. This house certainly isn't anything super fancy but is just perfect for a lake house. We highly recommend it!

Owner was great! House need attention.

We are very familiar with good old fashioned dirty lake life. This is an old lake house that needs some attention. None of the lights were on inside or out to welcom. Very steep in and out drive with big potholes, pizza will deliver but we had to meet at the top because his car was going to bottom out. It hasn’t been properly cleaned in a while. Pest control inside the home is great considering the amount of spiders, and bugs as soon as you open the door. Patio had to be cleaned before use. Upstairs is big with a window unit that wasn’t on, never really cooled down. Down stairs ac is great! Like you’re staying in someone else’s home that hasn’t been de-winterized. Pots and pans are old/beat up. Random game pieces hidden away in junk drawers, broken blinds, everything just feels used. Good luck sitting on the commodes downstairs, knees hit the vanities. Notified the washing machine wasn’t working but it was in pieces in one of the bedrooms. All mattresses could use replacing. Just overall needs TLC. Walking through the unmowed yard… (that had a safety issue. A serious hole on a steep incIine, suggest not bringing kids until repaired). Down the steep steps that are falling apart. Then a hike down to the water, maybe don’t do this with your hands full. Finally getting to the pretty view that you can’t see from the house because the trees are overgrown… getting back is a leg burner but worth it. It’s over priced, but everything is right now

We were disappointed

The property is in a really sketchy neighborhood, the house is much smaller in person than it appears in photos and the layout is very chopped up. The 2 downstairs bathrooms are so tight that you hit your knees on the vanity, so basically you have to sit sideways on the toilets. (And I'm only 5' 1) The back porch was big and nice, but there were ALOT of asps, so be careful. Also, backyard sent me over the top & we honestly debated on leaving & losing our money. It is very dangerous for anyone with children. There's a huge hole next to the fence that's definitely a huge safety issue, we turned a picnic table upside down on top of it, so nobody would fall in. There was no cell reception, we had to use wifi to be able to get calls from family arriving. We could only have 6 cars in the driveway, so I spent the day shuttling folks back and forth to parking. The driveway is absolutely terrible and I would not suggest anyone taking a boat to the house. We enjoyed our group and made the best of the trip, but I was so disappointed that it's taken me awile to sit down and put this into words. I don't want to be so negative, but I do want to be honest. The hike to the water behind the house is so steep that some in our party, including myself, wasn't able to make it down there. I will say the sunsets from the back porch were beautiful and host is quick to respond. I gave 3 stars because the big back porch was a saving grace & we were able to anchor boats in the back. Ages 2yrs to 75yrs

Spring Break Weekend

Barbara was great about sending us information prior to getting there & letting us know where we could get items if needed. Once arriving there, we found the location to be beautiful and oh what fun to walk down to the water. Fishing was great too. House was comfortable for 16 people.

I discovered Lake Whitney with some friends of mine some 20 years ago. I fell in Love with it's Natural & Unspoiled Beauty. The Cliffs & Limestone Rocks are great for fishing Or Diving. The Lake is so Clean & Clear. The Fishing is Great, Boating, Skying is also Great. You can Ski forever & never see any other Boats. Lake Whitney is a well kept Secret. Its has some very nice State Parks & Camping sites.I have some other friends that invited me to Lake Whitney for July 4th Holiday. I was hooked I was determined to find me a place. It is very hard to find a Water Front Lake House you can actually walk down to the water, most are Cliff Hanging Lots which are Beautiful to, but I wanted to be able to walk down to the Water. I bought the Lake House over 10 Years ago. I have a Great View & it is very nice & peaceful. It has all been updated with 45' Deck.I plan to retire there some day.. .

Lake Whitney is very quiet & peacefull.The Lake is one of the most Beautifull Lakes In Texas. Lake Whitney has been voted one of The Best Lakes in Texas with all of it's Parks & Camp Ground's. They even have Equestrian Trails for Horseback riding.It is vey close to Dallas/Ft Worth area little over 1 Hour Drive to the Metroplex.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

When you pull into the driveway you see the Lake & you begin to relax. It has a Great View of Lake Whitney from the 45' Deck & every room in the Lake Home.The Neighborhood is a nice place to walk & watch the Squirrels, Birds chirping. You can actually see the Falling Stars in the Black Clear Sky at night.
