Secluded 2-Bedroom Cabin on the Edge of the BWCA

Poplar Creek Retreat is a beautiful, secluded cabin located midway up the Gunflint Trail in Grand Marais, Minnesota. All the modern conveniences with the ambiance of a North Woods cabin, to include frequent visits by moose! The dock is just 60 rods down a private portage to Little Ollie/Poplar Lake with easy access to the BWCA. In the winter, have the luxury of walking right out the door to the start of the renowned Banadad Ski Trail! Few places offer such privacy!

Sweet cabin in the woods with a pretty stream 50 feet away. Kitchen was fully supplied with all necessary pots pans and cutlery. Saw several moose ( 4 bulls) within a couple miles of the cabin. Also saw a mama bear and her cub as well as what appeared to be an albino fox.

Very nice North Woods cabin. Comfortable beds. Kitchen nicely included everything we needed. Several hiking (cross country ski) trails near by. Secluded yet we still had WiFi! Will definitely stay again.

Loved our stay! A couple of items didn’t work or didn’t work properly. Reason not get 5 stars on accuracy of listing. However, this was minimal and didn’t affect our overall experience.

A great getaway

The cabin had everything we needed for our stay with plenty of options. The gas stove provided plenty of heat for the entire cabin. The host provided us with helpful information in a Welcome Packet document. The Cabin and it's location provided us an escape from city living. We would easily stay here again.

We love this cabin!

We love staying on the Gunflint Trail and this cabin is in a secluded area (helps to have 4 wheel drive in the winter) with great access to local trails for hiking and snowshoeing. The host is very responsive and easy to work with. We love the amenities, especially the gas fireplace.

Fantastic Stay!

This is a wonderful cabin with a gas fireplace, big kitchen, comfortable beds, and a huge whirlpool tub to soak in after hiking or snowshoeing. There are many trails within walking distance for skiing, snowshoeing, or hiking. There is a big backyard and a trail that overlooks Poplar Creek. The host was very responsive and even suggested we come early to avoid arriving in a big snowstorm. We would definitely stay here again!

Get away from the hustle bustle

My husband and I like to hide from the world a little before the holidays to spend quality time together in nature. We loved the cabin feel but the luxury of the larger tub and appliances. The property was beautiful and well maintained. The trails were wonderful and we saw a variety of wildlife. We will defiantly stay here again.

Excellent secluded get away

The Gunflint trail is already an epic drive but this cabin capped it off well. My wife and our two dogs spent a week here. We took day trips to hike, use the E-Bikes in Schroeder, and tour Grand Marais. The amenities were convenient and comfortable. The entire stay was beautiful and relaxing. We would definitely come back again!

Beautiful, comfortable cabin. great views from large windows! Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable sleeping. Plenty of hot water. Friendly and responsive host... would gladly stay again!!! Remote, but we like that. Portage to lake a bit much for us seniors

Great place to refresh!

None of us were ready to say goodbye when it was time to leave! We had a great experience, even with all the rain! The cabin fit us perfectly & was so very cozy! We all loved it & hope to return sometime! The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful!

Lovely private retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. It was relaxing to wake up with views of the creek from the bedroom window. 6 new inches of fresh snow made for fantastic winter activities. Evening games around the table and reading by the fireplace were a perfect way to end the day. This property was close to Gunflint attractions while still providing privacy. We will be back!

Winter wonderland in beautiful setting

The cabin is next to a running stream surrounded by beautiful woods. It has direct access to snowshoe trails and the Banadad xc-ski trail that go into the Boundary Waters. The location midway up the Gunflint Trail is perfect for exploring lakes up or down the Trail and is also not far from good restaurants at Trail Center and Poplar Haus. We loved our stay and hope to return!

The Perfect getaway

This low key cabin was out away from all others just like we wanted. The cabin was gorgeous, clean, and exactly what we were looking for. Snowshoeing around the trails was a great touch. We will be booking again in the future!
