Red Histórica Escuela apareció en el 2015 Hogar y Jardín TV Especial

Cómoda casa, tranquila, en minutos Pittsfield de Tanglewood, Berkshire Teatro Festivales y otras atracciones durante todo el año. Casa de la escuela del sitio más antiguo de Nueva Inglaterra y catalogado como EE.UU. Lugar Histórico Nacional. Construido en 1825 y reconstruido 1843 después de un incendio que se ha utilizado continuamente por la comunidad hasta ser convertidos en una residencia privada en 1985. La casa fue completamente renovado en 2010 con el vidrio y baño de azulejos y actualizaciones en todo el interior 1.000 pies cuadrados ubicado en el medio de un lote arbolado acres en una calle tranquila de montaña. El dormitorio con una cama de matrimonio se encuentra en el segundo piso loft. La planta baja tiene el cuarto de baño, una cocina totalmente equipada, la pizarra original, ventanas muy grandes, un gran salón con mesa de comedor para ocho personas, de gas cerámica estufa, sofá y centro de entretenimiento de TV / DVD. El sofá se puede convertir en una cama de matrimonio para invitados o los niños o para dormir frente a la chimenea en el invierno. El lote arbolado está cercado por la seguridad del animal doméstico con un estanque y arroyo que se ejecuta en los dos lados. A Tanglewood binge weekend

Very comfortable, homey, and charming. Easy instructions for entry and use of the premises, bath, kitchen, appliances, etc. ver quiet and private location, even though it is relatively close to busy road (Route 7). The building stayed quite cool despite the oppressive heat outside.

Cosy and historic stay

We had an excellent time in this cosy and historic home. Especially loved the fireplace and large, fenced yard, and it's a quick drive to the nearby town of Lenox and great outdoor activities. Some of the surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom were a bit dirty upon arrival, but we easily wiped them down with the provided cleaning supplies. Overall, had a great time and would love to stay again!

Great Time

We have stayed here many times. The schoolhouse , property with fenced yard and location are perfect for us and our dog. Bob is a wonderful host. Having the first floor bedroom, which is new since our last visit, is an asset.

Welcome Get-away

We were very pleased with everything about the Moorewood little red schoolhouse..wonderful spot for 2 from which to explore the Berkshire hills and towns! The open floor plan and perfectly equipped kitchen were enjoyed to the fullest. And it suited us epecially well with our pittie, who loved the freedom of the fenced yard. Thank you for a wonderful stay at your comfortable and lovingly restored historic home in western MA!

Cozy luxury in a tranquil setting

I was traveling with my young daughter to visit family and was seeking something homier than a hotel that offered self-catering. Morewood was so much more than just a place to sleep and make a meal or two. We really felt at home during our stay and appreciated every amenity offered from the stereo system to the laundry to the comfortable bed to the amazing shower. I couldn't recommend a stay at Morewood School any more highly, it made our trip to the Berkshires unforgettable.

Just Perfect

This was our second stay at the schoolhouse. It is a beautiful property both inside and outside. The house was completely furnished so we had everything we needed or wanted. We have family in the area and had plenty of room for them to stop by and visit. We will be back!

Barbara- Thanks for the feedback. Next time you visit we'll have a ground floor bedroom added to the back shed and a Rinnai on demand hot water unit. Hope to have improved the insulation and water pipes to be able to winter in the cold winter months ss well. Bob

Peace and quiet in a busy vacation locale

The red schoolhouse exterior caught my attention because I am a retired teacher. The mix of a charming historical atmosphere and modern conveniences is very pleasing. The quiet neighborhood provides a peaceful, relaxed environment. The outlying area offers a multitude of enjoyable, year-round activities. Janice central Mass

The school house itself is very special

The 1843 school house itself is beautiful, inside and out. I loved it. It was quiet, well furnished and very spacious. The front yard, fenced in area was perfect too. The backyard area with the fire pit and grill needed taking care of and was virtually u usable. It did not ruin our lovely time there at all but should be looked at in the future because it is not up to the quality of the rest of the property. I did love our stay there!

Wonderful Place

Quaint, cozy and spacious. Right off a main road, yet feels worlds away even while outside on the grounds. The "house" itself was clean, bright and welcoming. Gets a little warm upstairs with the heat going, but the main floor is perfect. Had a nice little firepit out back to roast some s'mores, would suggest an ax to chop some more firewood if you plan on having many fires. Lots of counter space for cooking, all the necessities are there for use. Honestly, I'd go back just for the kitchen, nevermind the rest of the place :P . We're definitely going to head back here, maybe before the end of fall, definitely in the springtime. Loved this place

Enjoyable stay!

Lovely setting, charming accommodations! Beds were comfortable, well-stocked kitchen, great shower, laundry. Plenty of towels and linens were supplied. A window AC unit is provided in the loft. A few housekeeping issues- some soiled towels were left in the bathroom and kitchen upon our arrival. Also, the dishwasher hadn’t been emptied, or trash bags placed in wastebaskets. Other than that, the schoolhouse was clean. We happened to arrive in the middle of a relentless rainstorm. It would’ve been nice if the entry door had more of an overhang for protection. Rain was pouring off the roof as we were fumbling to get in. Overall, we did enjoy our stay! Much to see and do in the Berkshires!

Lovely and well appointed.

The house is well appointed. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 for just a couple of things: The kitchen is the most well stocked/appointed kitchen I have ever stayed in. The drawback is that was very little room for our things/food. There is a cupboard filled with china that is locked. That cupboard would be better used for guests. Be alerted that the hot water tank really only allows for a shower and a half before the water starts getting chilly. The house needs a little TLC on the outside but the interior is excellent. The AC in the bedroom is super efficient. The surrounding area was filled with fun things to do and it was so nice to come home to this schoolhouse. We would definitely stay there again.

Jennifer- thanks for the review. My wife is an Atlanta designer and some times the style element overcome the practical needs of a vacation vistor. Next visit you will see more space in the kitchen, a new bedroom on the ground floor and enjoy an infinite supply of hot water from a new Rinnai on demand hot water unit replacing the small tank.

It was Nice ~

Debated about leaving a review for it was a mixed bag staying there ~ Plus side: The Historic value/décor , Pet friendly, Big Yard for the dogs, Nice kitchen, Great location in the Berkshires and Lovely owners. Some things to think about: Hot water is limited. Great Historic Value, however, it is becoming tired, needs to be refreshed. Steep stairs. Bed is full size and sofa bed; not to good. Cleaning process wasn't complete when we got there, we were left a note by cleaning staff to finish what they couldn't. Lastly, the door was VERY hard to open via the key and door aliment. Again, I debated about leaving this review, however, we paid a lot to stay here and from the other reviews we thought we were getting a lot more for our money. If the things I wrote do not bother you, then this is a wonderful Historical place to stay. Our expectations were a little higher.

Jennie- your review was accurate and reflects changes that are ongoing. We are adding a ground floor bedroom this fall off the shed in the back. Part of the renovation includes a Rinnai hot water on demand unit that provides an infinite amount of hot water. I had the door top corner shaved soon after your stay to solve the sticking. Maintaining this 160 year old house is a challenge with the occasional settling the requires readjusting a door or window and the constant painting and replacing of the original wooden siding and classic Greek molding elements. But we soldier on because we love the old Morewood School and enjoy sharing it with others.

102nd birthday

We hadn’t seen our family since Christmas 2019 because of the pandemic. My mother turned 102 on 11/21. This was our first experience renting online. We rented this house for its proximity to my moms. We hosted 8 for a family brunch/ birthday party. The kitchen is very well equipped to cook in, ample seating and it’s cozy with the gas stove. Nice appliances and sharp knives(. I had brought mine but didn’t need them). Things to be aware of : the building is old and historic . Take that into consideration when you arrive and look around. (Entrance looks it’s age. )Inside is darling. Visiting in the winter: turn the stove on and both bathroom heaters upon arrival and the space warms up fast. The floor in the bath was cold so we put down three bath mats and it was fine. Turn the heat on in there when you get up. Watch your head in the loft. once you are aware. it’s fine. We appreciated the night lights on the stairs. The loft is plenty warm at night. We have a queen at home so the size was fine for us and we found the mattress and pillows to be comfortable. The back yard space would be great in warmer weather. A wide Brook runs through the property. It’s close to two good markets, and high end liquor store. ( wine glasses and martini glasses provided.) We would definitely rent this place again. Thanks for the opportunity to review.

Lovely return visit

Our family was scattered for Thanksgiving this year, and our kitchen was damaged in a mishap caused by our upstairs neighbors, so we decided to escape to the Berkshires for a quiet and peaceful holiday. The lovely, big kitchen was a particular draw for us--very well stocked with quality appliances, pots and pans, and everything you might need. There's a great wine store just down the street (Spirited) and a lovely market (Guido's) as well. And while we were content on this trip to just hang out at the house, there is so much to do just a short drive away.

Perfect Pittsfield Property

From the very beginning, this was the perferct property to VRBO. I had to change my booking dates and Mr. Clydesdale was very helpful. The property was impecable; the kitchen was fully stocked, the decor was so quaint and charming, the beds and linens were clean and comfortable. We were also able to enjoy the outdoor seating area around the fire pit each night and listen to the brook babble in the background. There is also a swingset out front to enjoy. The property is a very quick, safe and easy 20-30 min walk to the center of Pittsfield. We will be back to this amazing property!!

Bob and Karen Clydesdale bought Morewood from the city in the 1980s while living in the Berkshires. Karen spent three years converting the building from the dirt up with new wide plank floors, insulated walls and modern drywall to the new roof to drag it into the 21st century while preserving the historical exterior and enhancing the grounds and interior ambiance.
