Absolute scam
Our family had to travel to San Diego for a funeral. We decided to try Vrbo because we didn’t want a hotel where we were on top of each other. We also wanted to be on the beach because her ashes were spread out at sea and it would a last moment of connection.
I messaged the host a week prior to our arrival to let her know we would be arriving late at night. The listing said we would be provided a passcode to enter the premises. No response. I figured we would get the information just prior to check in and nothing.
After check in time I messaged host and got no response. During the drive, I had called several times and left voicemails and never received any acknowledgment.
Vrbo attempted to contact the host and she continued to be non responsive. Vrbo stated they will refund the costs but unfortunately this property host made everything extremely difficult.
I viewed an earlier review when this host did the same thing to another guest. However I saw the host was listed as “premier” and figured the situation must’ve been handled. It obviously was not.
I implore Vrbo to remove this host from your network as I definitely had doubts about this type of rental before booking and this experience has shown my doubts to be valid. It may be a very long time if ever I attempt to try this business model again.
