Bonnie Brae - Ski Chalet w/hot tub
Bonnie Brae is located in the beautiful canyon of Moonridge and with a recent extensive remodel has maintained its cabin charm but has all the modern conveniences and stylish decor for a truly cozy and relaxing stay. The large dining room is perched up high offering views of the trees where often you are face to face with a blue jay while drinking your morning coffee! With a recent addition including a game room there is plenty of space for the family to spread out.
Main floor: consists of a kitchen, a living room, dining room, main bathroom and spacious bedroom consisting of two sets of bunk beds which all have heated electric mattress covers. This floor leads out to the spacious raised deck with 6 person spa, eating area, propane BBQ and propane fire table.
Upstairs: is the loft which houses the master suite consisting of a comfy queen size bed with heated electric mattress cover and ensuite updated bathroom. Decks on either side of this room make it a great spot for some quiet time.
Downstairs: consists of a game/living room which is the perfect hang out spot for kids. TV has an Apple TV device with access to Netflix and bumper pool table to keep everyone entertained. There is access to the back yard from this room for sledding and exploring fun.
The fully equipped Kitchen was updated in 2022 and has all the amenities.. dishwasher, coffee bar, gas oven and microwave along with a large counter space with 4 stools. Crock pot and kitchen utensils are provided.
The Living room has a retro fireplace with a starter complimentary duraflame fire log. Two comfy sofas for your relaxation while watching a movie on the smart TV on Netflix. The TV cabinet houses an array of board games and there are various DVDs for your use.
The Dining room is elevated showcasing beautiful tree views through its expansive windows. There is plenty of room for the whole family to enjoy dinner, complete a jigsaw puzzle or play board games.
Outdoors: The large elevated deck has a picnic table, propane BBQ, propane fire table and 6 person hot tub. The downstairs game room provides direct access to the backyard for exploring, fort building or sledding. Two sleds are provided for your use.
The cabin has been tastefully decorated with a complimentry mix of retro and modern. There are various nostalgic Big Bear pictures to showcase some of Big Bears interesting history. If you stay during the summer make sure to visit the Big Bear Museum, it is volunteer run and an absolutely amazing place. Volunteer blacksmiths educate and sometimes put on a great show and often kids come away with a keepsake that they made. The Big Bear Discovery center is another great place for the family to visit and offers free fun family activities.
This cabin has been a home from home for us for the past 15 years and only became a rental at the beginning of 2023. Both our teenage girls participated with the Snow Summit Race Team with our oldest heading off to college we decided to open our cabin up to other likeminded families. We truly feel we have an amazing space and know you will have a lovely experience at our beautiful Bonnie Brae Cabin. Please note the cabin was built mid century so the stairs to the loft can feel steep as do the stairs to the game room. We do not recommend renting our space if you have very young children (under 3) or physically challenged.
The honest expectation and sadly the rules!!
Due to the configuration of the seeping arrangements we can only accept bookings for families with children under 18 or individual couples.
The area of Moonridge in Big Bear is highly desirable as it offers the true mountain feel. This means steep hills to drive up/down. During the winter you must be prepared with chains and/or 4 wheel drive as the roads get very icy. Please make sure you feel comfortable installing chains before your visit and do take all road warnings seriously. We make sure the driveway is plowed before a guest visit but please note the outside stairs and driveway will be icy so use extreme caution. We will provide you with a map with the best access route to our cabin after reservation.
Pets: We love animals however at this time we are not accepting guests with pets. Violating the No Pet Policy will result in eviction and loss of deposit.
No smoking of any kind indoors. Please be firesafe and use an ashtray outside.
Big Bear Lake is very strict regarding noise and one complaint from a neighbor will result in code enforcement knocking on the door within 30 minutes and passing on a hefty fine. Please enjoy yourselves but keep in mind that voices carry throughout the Moonridge valley. Stargazing is amazing on a clear night and highly recommended (especially from the hot tub) but there is a no noise restriction after 10pm so outside whisper voices only after this time.
Parking: We have space for two cars head to tail. Do not park on the street as you will receive a ticket. It is best to back into the driveway in snowy conditions so you do not get stuck!
Trash: Do not leave the doors open at night or leave trash outside, raccoons, squirrels, bears and coyotes will find it! There are two garbage bins under the stairs by the kitchen, one for recycle and one for landfill. As with all visitors to Big Bear the trash must me disposed off at the “Clean Bear Site #1” aka trash transfer station on your way out of town. Its centrally located a short distance from Vons and CVS but as you can imagine does get very busy. We often take our trash home with us to save time!

We are family of skiers and surfers. Both our kids learned to ski at Snow Summit and raced with the Snow Summit Ski Team. Our full time home is in Carlsbad.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
The area of Moonridge where Bonnie Brae Cabin is located is a beautiful hilly valley allowing cabins to have a sense of privacy. The deck and spa are elevated for the ultimate relaxing experience and Bear Mountain ski resort and the gold course is a short walk. There is plenty of room for a family to spread and with a game room that opens up to a winter sledding or summer fort building area the kids will be entertained for hours. Bonnie Brae is really a great place to relax and everything Big Bear has to offer is either walking distance or a short drive away.
