We spent a long wknd here small mouth bass fishing. This cabin was as described and very remote, which was perfect for some relaxing time by the water. Everything gets 5 stars, I would highly recommend this cozy cabin by the river for a relaxing vacation!

Perfect cabin & location, but river access was difficult to get to as it was straight up &down a hill with limited area mowed for fishing and no vehicle access.

Wonderful cabin and setting! Enjoyed our stay very much. Our car is 2WD without high clearance, but with careful driving on the gravel road we had no problem. It was so relaxing sitting on the porch overlooking the grounds and the river, or in the gazebo down by the water. We would happily return and definitely recommend.

Very nice accommodations. It’s definitely a trek from the main road but no problems as roads are well-maintained, the views are great and we enjoyed seeing the deer on every trip in and out. We loved the riverside view and enjoyed fishing in front of the cabin. Inside was nice and comfortable.

Fabulous

This place was absolutely amazing—secluded, peaceful, and spotless. Kayaking and fishing on the New River were fantastic! I would highly recommend it, and I’ll definitely be coming back. My only suggestions for the cabin would be to add more silverware, as well as extra pots, pans, and mixing bowls for cooking.

New River - Independence Day

We very much enjoyed this cabin and for July 4th weekend. It’s seclusion was somewhat suprising, literally at the end of long off the main road ride, yet still an easy drive through pines, past deer, and ending above the river. Nice river view and access. Close enough to Highway 221 for access to Fries, Galax, New River State Park, and Blue Ridge Music Center, all of which we enjoyed.

Good 2 day vacation

Beautiful cabin near river. Very backwoods. Recommend truck because road is mostly gravel for a couple of miles. No cell service outside of cabin. Food, gas, and supplies several miles away (at least 15-20 mins). Grill had missing air vent on bottom causing sparks to come out a lot. Owner is super responsive! Jetted tub is nice.

Fantastic place to stay

This place is very nice with an even better view. The host, Rebecca was the best host we ever dealt with. She is so nice and responsive. She made everything so nice we will stay with her listing's from now on.

Looking for beauty and seclusion? You found it!

This cabin is exactly as described. Beautiful river view in a very secluded setting. If you are a fisherman or just want to get away from it all, this place is for you. I am a stickler for cleanliness and the cabin met my expectations. For your visit, be sure to get food supplies before arriving, as it is about 20-25 min into Galax. But you will find a well equipped kitchen and nice grilling/campfire area next to the river.

Beautiful River Cabin

New River Haven is exactly as advertised - a beautiful and extremely well appointed cabin perfect for getting away from it all. Our goal was relaxation and space away from others and we got just that! A few things worth noting: the WiFi is Starlink and was not working when we first arrived, though the network appeared available. We determined that the satellite unit had likely been tucked under the deck during lawn maintenance. Once set back out in the yard, it worked like a dream! The cabin is remote. While this is what we were after, it’s important to note that while you are not far from “civilization”, it’s going to take you 15 mins or so to get out of the woods to begin your journey. In terms of things to do (parks and restaurants, etc) there are plenty of options, but the trip will be a minimum of 35-45 mins. Water and common area access might test your level of fitness. It’s beautiful and perfect for fishing, but getting to the water can be tricky between damp grass and ground stability. There are no steps, so you need to be nimble to get down and flexible to climb back up. The trip to and from the common area involves a hill with serious grade. Care must be taken in navigating both directions, but the incline is constant and steep! Aside from a suggestion to add stairs from the cabin level to the lower road and from the road to the common area, the only thing this was missing from perfection was a hot tub. Just a beautiful spot, overall, and quite luxurious!

Just what we wanted

This gem was perfect! It was the only house on that road at the end. Close enough to water to appreciate it and also far enough it wasn’t loud at all(some riverside cabins are really noisy). Property was in great shape and very clean. Everything was as it was described or better. Would definitely stay here again.
