A true fly fisherman’s dream destination. Located just two miles north upstream of the Yellow River Forest. The sound of water running over the stretch of rapids near the cabin will lull you to sleep. Located just two miles north upstream of the Yellow River Forest. Fish and hike during the day then relax at night to a nice camp fire while star gazing in a perfect sky with no light pollution. You will never see the Milky Way so clearly again. Creekside Cottage is also adjacent to a county park with no overnight camping but features a play area for kids.

A great place to fish, hunt, hike, or enjoy the views of this valley. New Wood Stove recently added in main living room and a brand new outdoor hot tub in the rear of the cabin.

-propane for grill and firewood are not provided with this rental. Please bring your own firewood/buy it in local town. There will be a tank at property that can be filled in town as well.
-3 night minimum stay required for weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend.

The shower leaks, also doesnt shut off. This has caused black mold in the bathroom floor. The A/C didnt work the last day we were there. The hot tubcover hinge was broken and the hot tub was open when we arrived. It seemed dirty and has not been maintained. Beautiful property, Beautiful location. Lot of small things that could be easily fixed and we would go again if they were.

My husband and I had amazing weekend getaway at the Creekside Cabin. We were so happy to unplug from the rest of the world and enjoy coffee on the porch, listening to the birds, drinks by the babbling creek and the hot tub was the highlight of it all. The cabin was beautifully appointed and the kitchen was stocked for the ease of cooking our meals. The weather was perfect for cracking the windows and feeling the cool breeze at night. We also explored a hiking trail nearby. We will definitely be back to share it with family next time.

Beautiful, remote Cabin

Cabin is beautiful and clean. If you are looking for a place out of the cities to enjoy nature and get some quiet time, I can't recommend this place enough! 10/10!

Cabin was full of dead flys and a lady bug infestation. There was a mouse nest in the draw of the bed side table in the main guest room which was very unpleasant to find. Hot tub exterior was quite damaged. Listed a ‘full stocked kitchen’ which only had 2 knife options which were both duller than spoons.

Secluded stay and fishing access

Beautiful and peaceful! No neighbors and a creek for fishing behind the cottage. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and seeing wild turkeys. State forest close by.

Long weekend trip

We loved the location of the cabin. It was close to a park, good fishing spots and other hiking spots. The couch and beds were pretty uncomfortable and we could have used more kitchen towels and wash cloths, but we enjoyed our stay.

Quiet Retreat by the Creek

We enjoyed our week at this cozy cabin. The sounds of the creek were relaxing and there was plenty of space for our kids to run and play. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed, and the accommodations were comfortable.

Favorite cozy getaway

We’ve visited “the Iowa Cabin” many times over the past six years. It’s a cozy, well-equipped property with everything we need for a family getaway. The location is peaceful and we’ve taught our kids to trout fish in the stream on the property. Many great memories here - we’ll be back!

Great get-away

Pictures don't do justice. This is a great location. Yellow River State Forest is amazing. Fun dive bar up the road in the small village. Fishing was tough with low water and high winds but looked very promising and will try some of these spots next time.

The property is beautiful and so is the cabin. You are 30 minutes away from the nearest grocery store and restaurant, so it is quiet and serene there. The creek just adds to it. The cabin has everything you need except the food. We received our code to get into the cabin the day of, just like it states. We stayed for my husband’s 40th birthday to go hiking and to come back after a long day of hiking to a jacuzzi was very nice. We even came back to deer laying in the yard.
