Cozy cabins on beautiful Horseshoe Lake

Located on beautiful Horseshoe Lake, these cabins are the perfect getaway. Sit on the enclosed shared front porch and enjoy a cup of coffee as you watch the wildlife on the lake. Horseshoe Bar & Grill is located on the other side of the lake where you can grab some great food and drinks. Only a few miles away. This is ONE building, with TWO SEPARATE ROOMS/CABINS. The Labrador Room is a one queen bed cabin (sleeps 2) while the Mallard Room has two full beds (sleeps 4).

Great overnight spot

This place is an excellent get away in Southern Illinois. Adjacent to a small lake good for kayaking and bird hunting. Recent updated in a duck hunting theme. Really nice and comfortable, both inside and on the screened in patio.

Pretty, secluded location. The pictures may be deceiving to some, but we stayed with 4 people and there was plenty of room. Communication was super easy with host, very responsive. Cabin was supplied with many amenities for cooking and just basic stay needs. Host pretty thought of everything.

Home away from home

Quiet place to stay. Comfortable bed. Wish we could have stayed longer but will definitely be back. Nice to actually have a good cup of coffee without taking your own personal coffee pot.

Devil in the details

Come prepared. This is a very remote place saved for nature. The cabin is a duplex and the description is misleading. I reserved the non refundable unit before noticing it was a duplex. Both units are listed with a four-person capacity when it's really only for two each. The porch and parking is also shared. The air conditioner/heater is very loud, so it helps to drown out the sound of the neighbors. I had a whole family staying next to me, and they had a "special" adult child who came in and out all day and night, and they were smoking cigarettes on the eclosed porch. Thankfully I stopped a couple places on the way for food a drink because there is nothing substantial to eat for miles and miles around. The horseshoe pub has only greasy grub from the bottom of the barrel. The creamer in the unit for the coffee was bad and the dollar general was out of milk. There were a couple roaches in the unit as I was packing up to leave. It's a great place for a group to rent both sides but very inappropriately designed for multi family. The description should be changed as there is no logical way to open two cots in this unit. The shower caddy isn't set up well with the faucet so there's no place for soap. The sink is too small to wash anything. Overall it is about the same value, price, and discomfort as a hotel but you get access to the outside more easily. And the lake is beautiful.

Great little cabin and very clean. I enjoyed my stay! It wasn’t on the lake as I pictured but other than that it was perfect.

We were looking for a place to view the 2024 solar eclipse and we found this cabin, which was in the path of totality! We were so excited to be able to view the eclipse from the property, which meant that we didn't have to deal with traffic getting home or to other lodging. Sherry was a great host. The cabin was quiet and clean. and just perfect for a two-night stay.

Sherry was amazing! The place was well over my expectations. Very clean beautiful scenery around the place and easy yet private acess. The room was extremely nice and organized and very homey. Made me feel like I was at home. Absolutely adored it there!! Will definitely stay again!

This place is Awesome!!! Thoroughly cleaned! Communication with Sherry was excellent! It was convenient having the screened in porch. I could leave my boots and other hunting equipment outside without having to worry about the weather. The place feels safe and is located on a working farm. Only minutes from the Shawnee National Forest and Cypress Creek Wildlife refuge! I look forward to my next stay at The Rested Duck!

Peaceful retreat

We wanted to get away for a few days to relax. This little cabin was the perfect spot and only a few miles into Missouri. The hosts were very attentive, if we needed anything. The Horseshoe Bar and Grill was so good and everyone was so kind. We will definitely be back.

The Rested Duck

What a truly delightful place to stay! The host has truly thought of any and everything, all of the comforts of home are there! Beautiful setting with the lake right across the street. Enjoyed sitting outside and on the porch. The bed is very comfortable and the cabin is immaculate. Will definitely be back! Ideal accommodations!
