Golf trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were four guys on a golf trip to Kiva Dunes. This was our fourth year and The Porthole was by far our best choice of accommodation. Spacious and clean with great decks and views. The management team went out of there way to make our stay a great one. Hopefully they'll have us back next year!

Great Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: For a property located off the beach, this is as close as it gets! Off the beach rates for a house that has a shorter walk to the beach than most condominiums we have rented. The house was very spacious, especially the front deck, which has a great view of the Gulf! Property Management was very attentive and even pulled our trash cans to the street for us on trash day.

close to beach

We really liked being so close to the beach for the quick walk as well as sitting on nicely shaded front deck and seeing and hearing the ocean. The beach and water were so nice and clear. We enjoyed the entire week in the spacious house with plenty of room to spread out and sleep. The beds were all so comfortable and having 3 KING beds was a benefit. The kitchen is beautiful and made preparing all our meals very easy and nice with lots of amenities and dishes. The ice machine is huge and a hit for sure as well as the filtered water/ice from the modern fridge. I would highly recommend this house and would stay here again! Thanks Dee Dee for checking in with us.

Not so cool in Gulf Shores

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house itself was a nice size. Very good location. AC unit never cooled the house. On the upstairs bedroom it got as high as 83 degrees. Main level was generally around 76 during the day.

Thanks for the feedback. The units are operating just fine, but we understand that they might not be able to keep up with extremely high temperatures. An Enjoyable Week

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There were some air conditioner issues during the week and the folks at Coastal View Vacations were great. They got air conditioner professionals out promptly and followed up to be sure we were satisfied. It took two trips for the repairmen to take care of everything, but Coastal View was very helpful and caring. Once the ac was properly repaired, time there was great. This was our third year in this house and we have reserved it again for next summer.

Almost Perfect.. One of the best locations w/ Coastal

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Plenty of parking, amazing location, views and ease of access to the beach. The interior layout is perfect for multiple guest and the large front porch facing the ocean is simply perfect. The only issue is the screws used to hold the planking down on the stairs weren't stainless.. and the second to the last stair wobbled. Our host that paid for this amazing house, being the first one there wrenched his knee carrying luggage|cooler into the house. Swollen and bruised knee.. It made the amazing Charter fishing trip out of Fort Morgan Marina with Cpt Chase on the No Doubt that much more adventurous. But. We had three houses rented on the island this weekend.. and everyone came to us. It simply the best.

Not clean

I was looking forward to this stay, as it was a wonderful house and great location. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment as we discovered how unclean this property was. Food splatters on cabinets, dirt around the toilets, dust and debris on tables but the biggest thing was roaches... we found several dead. By the end of our stay, we found several alive. I bought bleach and cleaning supplies to at least clean the bathrooms before use. The AC needed some serious maintenance as well, as we could never get the temperature regulated. I hope the owners get some necessary repairs (floor was covered with plywood from a soft spot) completed and it sprayed for bugs before they let other families stay here.

We appreciate your feedback Brittany. We never like to hear that a guest is less than satisfied with their stay. We did offer to send the cleaners back immediately to address any cleaning concerns and have provided your feedback to the cleaning company. The home is on a mandatory pest control program and treated regularly. We did request an extra perimeter treatment, which has been performed, to treat for palmetto bugs which are indigenous to the area. We are working with the owner to get the carpet replaced on the stairs during the off season. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the great location, layout and amenities of the home! Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've stayed here multiple times over many years, under several different agencies over the years. We love the house, layout, location, amenities, etc. Updates have been appropriate and appreciated. There is one re-occurring problem, that the owner does not seem willing to address. The air conditioner is not adequate to keep the house comfortable. 80 degrees at bedtime in the upstairs bedroom is not acceptable, and may ultimately be a deal breaker for our families. It seems to be a problem each time we stay here, with various reasons provided. The rental agency has addressed our issues well.

Ehh, not the best experience.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay began roughly, the AC did not work properly, it was miserable. Going to bed with our house at 80 degrees is not ideal after soaking up the sun ALL day long. The dishwasher took several cycles to get the dishes even remotely clean, the dryer blower did not work properly, it took at least 3 cycles to get even a decent dry on our clothes. The home was okay, kinda small. We dealt with maintenance at least 1/2 of our stay which was NOT ideal with the money you pay for these homes. I will say, Coastal View's company was very prompt on our concerns, I was never ignored, and they did address our concerns so that was nice but that was it. I was not looking for a payday or a quick refund by any means but with the amount of issues we had just starting off you'd of thought our family was offered some sort of incentive for our troubles. Like a voucher for dinner somewhere or for some beach tents rented for us for the beach? Idk, just some sort of small nice gesture to maybe help make our stay a little less stressful since it was our vacation. Overall though, it made our family vacation rough, kids were cranky because there was not much room to play, no tv in their room etc. Adults were crabby because our house so hot, even at bedtime, and on top of that having to deal with maintenance throughout our stay. It just was not it.
