Luxury Historic Estate with Pool & Hot Tub

Idler’s Retreat, also known as the Dillon-Tucker-Cheney House, a rare jewel in Middle TN, is situated in the Front Street District in Smyrna. Built in 1865, much of the original structure, flooring, and doors and hardware remain. This inviting home will always be remembered as a haven to scores of brilliant minds, who convened together to make the world a better place.

This beautiful, historic estate features a main house with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, guest house with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, and an olympic size swimming pool. Both homes have been fully remodeled with a modern decor design.

If you are a fan of large family dinners, the dining room features an elegant 11-foot table to seat 12. There are also two additional dining tables located in the kitchen to seat 8 additional guests.

Three bedrooms are located in the main house. Two bedrooms are located in the guest house.

Enjoy the Olympic size swimming pool from May - September.

EARLY CHECK-IN
I absolutely wish we could offer an early check-in! However, this is a large property that takes between 6-10 hours to prepare for the next guest after someone checks out. It usually is not ready until right at 5 PM. We will always let you know if it does happen to be ready any earlier. The ONLY way to guarantee early access will be to book the night before your reservation.

Excellent Stay!

We loved this property! It was charming and clean. It had the perfect amount of space for the 10 of us, and it was conveniently located not too far outside of Nashville. The kitchen was well stocked and all of the extra small perks were much appreciated. It really had everything we needed!

Wedding Weekend

My son got married in Nashvile so we all decided to have our family get together the same wekkend. We had a wondertime. The house was gorgeous. It had all the amenities we needed. Very spacious. Everything about the he was amazing.

Family Getaway

This historic house was a great place for our family of 12 to be together. The large pool was a great addition to the stay. The house was very clean and equipped to feed a large crowd. We were even able to watch the fireworks from the back yard. I would recommend this home to friends.

Weekend Getaway

We had a large group of people, the property was large enough to still have peace and quiet.The bedrooms were very comfortable and everything was centrally located to the property. The pool was a plus and well enjoyed.

A beautiful home

My friends, family, and I had an amazing time at Idlers Retreat! The home is absolutely breathtaking and we all enjoyed the pool very much. The location of this home was also perfect for us to get to downtown Nashville as needed. Would definitely stay here again!

The perfect stay!

I had my bachelorette party here. It is such a gorgeous home. It fit me and my 13 friends perfectly/comfortably. The pool is a big plus. The place was clean, the host was super nice and helpful through the whole experience. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. We didn’t want to leave!

Work Retreat

We were a group of 10 co-workers having a summer retreat. It was nice to be able to get work done at the huge nice table and then take a break in the pool and hot tub. We had 6 people in the hot tub so it lost a lot of water but the owners came out and got it going again. They were very friendly!!

Beautiful Home for our Family Gathering

We celebrated family birthdays all week in this very comfortable house. We had 8 adults and 2 children and there was more than enough room for everyone. The kitchen is fantastic and we enjoyed cooking our meals on the wonderful gas stove. The dining room had more than enough room for all of us to sit and eat together. The pool was amazing! The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We couldn’t have asked for a better visit! Thanks for sharing your fantastic property!

Estate in the Suburbs

You could feel the history of this home. The old wooden floors, large spiraling staircase. But it had all the amenities of a new home. We had 14 people stay the weekend and never felt crowded. The shower and toilet in each bedroom was a perfect addition and made getting ready so easy. The location is fair, not too far from Nashville and downtown tucked into a suburb. The host was great and very responsive to questions.

My Family Loved Staying Here!

My family and I stayed here over a long weekend to participate and celebrate my cousin's wedding. All of my family members expressed deep appreciation for having this wonderful home to gather, share meals, hang out at the pool, sit in nature, play games, cook together in the large kitchen, and be located close to the freeway in order to have access to may other parts of the Nashville greater area. My 70 year old mother enjoyed having a couple of stairs to climb in order to stay in the second home with a large and comfortable bed. We had so much fun and experienced so much love because there was enough space to for all of us to just be together! Thank you Savannah! Thank you to your husband as well!!! You responded immediately to any questions or requests we had. You are wonderful hosts!!!

Great stay!

Everything was as expected and our family enjoyed the property very much, it was fun to all dine at one large table! Loved gathering in the kitchen for cooking and visiting. The pool had an issue for our first day but the owners were quick to get it in order for our Other days. We left a bag and they were amazing in mailing it to us! Would recommend and stay again if in the area.

Spring Break on Historic Estate

Beautiful historic 1865 home with tasteful modern touches. Huge rooms. Comfy beds with quality linens. Very private. Awesome kitchen with commercial-style oven. Very well stocked with coffee/tea bar, cookware, etc. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Historic Home

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful historic estate! The property is very well kept, including the large swimming pool. It felt very clean and was the perfect size for my family's vacation (12 adults and 2 children under 3). The linens and appliances are all high quality which was a very nice extra. The hosts were great to deal with and replied quickly. I would absolutely reccommend this house!! Thanks so much Savannah for hosting us!

Beautiful place. Owners are very responsive.

Small issue with the water. Owner came to the house, himself, with the Utility Company, in record time, in the rain, and supervised the resolution himself. BTW, it was the utility company’s fault, but the owner made sure it was fixed, and followed up with me before he left.
