Riverfront house on the Tippecanoe River- Yogi’s Den - upper level

The Lazy Bear is a 2 unit house. Upper and lower. Completely separated. If you book a unit, the only ones that can book the other can be booked by “Only “ your other family members or your friends. So you don’t not share outdoor amenities with strangers. This unit fits 2 adults and up to 3 or 4 children. Welcome to the Lazy Bear Retreat. Spend time in nature with the people who matter the most. Just sit and relax on the bank of the river. And listen to nature’s radio. Or the river is perfect for fishing, kayaking, and tubing. You can also enjoy s’mores at night with the campfire on the river. As a retired carpenter I found this as an abandoned shell. I finished and repurposed everything. From kitchen cabinets, countertops, doors, all wood trim, furniture, custom lighting, and beds. Also there is a 160’ zip line from the house to the river. Arrangements need to be made if planning to use for the kids to go down. Host will supervise. The BABY BEAR HOTEL is a bunkhouse for the kids. It has a full bed and a twin bed. It has sink with running water, refrigerator, microwave, hot chocolate maker, tv, dvd player, and air conditioning. There is also games, Legos, and Barbie dolls for the kids. Some adults have spent the night in it with their kids or grandkids. Also available are several fishing rods. Or bring your “ LUCKY “ fishing gear. There are 3 kayaks and tubes available. If you start at the LAZY BEAR, there is a river access to get out 2 miles down river. Which is about a 2 hour float. Make arrangements with host to get picked up. Activities in the area are FAIR OAKS DAIRY FARM - WOLF PARK LAFAYETTE IN - PEACEABLE PRIMEMATE SANCTUARY - TIPPECANOE STATE PARK - CROOKED CREEK TRAILS horseback riding - BROKEN WAGON BISON RANCH - NOTRE DAME STADIUM - PURDUE STADIUM - KERSTINGS HARLEY DAVIDSON MUSEUM - MOSS CREEK GOLF COURSE - GILSINGER’s JOHN DEERE MUSEUM.

This is a great place! The interior is so well decorated and so creative. S’mores fixing, cozy, super clean, and the host was amazing including a ride back from our kayak trip.

Cozy cottage on the river

The home was so cozy. We were able to go tubing, which the home owner provided and we had fun fishing.

Serenity!!

The accommodations were wonderful. You could tell the owner put thought into every piece and we felt welcomed upon arrival. The house had everything we needed and we especially enjoyed sitting outside by the river. Vince, our host was readily available and was pleasant to work with. We will certainly be back. This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Our overall experience was wonderful. Unique property nicely maintained and tucked away. Personal creative touches throughout the house. The owner Vince welcomed us and gave us a quick tour of the house, he also brought us some sweet corn which we cooked while we were there. We’ll definitely be returning, and probably before the year is out, sometime this fall.

Above and beyond expectations

Everything about the stay was flawless. The instructions and communication prior to arrival were complete and clear. The property was clean, stocked with basic necessities and the location is better than what is in the listing. Vince was a phenomenal host, went above and beyond to make this a very memorable trip for us and the kids.

Amazing experience

I want to thank Vince for going above and beyond as a host. He was readily available if he was needed, he had extracurricular things for us to be able to do. But most of all he opened this beautiful cabin that he restored by himself for us to enjoy.

2 nights wasn’t long enough for my family of 4! Mr Vince was a pleasure to visit with. We chatted while my kids fished and played in the water. My 7 year old was able to walk in the river, not too deep and not a fast current. Mr Vince supplied my family with both inside and outside entertainment, even on one of our rainy days stuck inside. It’s a great spot for family to unplug and recharge together. It is in a forest like area so there will be bugs. Mosquitos weren’t terrible. It’s just like a cabin in the woods. Also, the craftsmanship Mr Vince put into the property is very cool. Lots to look at. Next time we visit we will be tubing and more kayaking with the fishing poles.

Wonderful Family Vacation

My family had a blast staying at this riverfront house. We loved all the amenities this place had to offer. We really enjoyed kayaking/tubing on the river, riding on the golf cart and ziplining. It was also so relaxing swinging on the swings while looking at the river. It's a great place to connect with family and to connect with nature. We also enjoyed chatting with Vince and learning the history of the place and checking out all the beautiful furniture and decorations he made. Vince has thought of everything you would need to have a great vacation and he goes above and beyond to make sure the kids have fun. Vince even printed shirts for our boys and gave us a Lazy Bear Retreat goodie bag filled with stuff so we can remember the amazing time we had there. We'll definitely recommend this place to our family and friends and we can't wait to come back soon! Thank you Vince! You are definitely the host with the most!
