Nightmare in the alley

We lived in the Tacoma area many years and knew of the mental illness/homeless problems. Thought it had improved somewhat. Clearly not! Behind us the Fawcett building appeared to house many mental health victims who were out and about causing unsafe conditions. GGuestsGuests

Tom, thank you for taking the time to leave a review as it is always helpful to hear guest feedback from each stay. I truly apologize about your experience and I completely understand the importance of feeling safe especially while you are on vacation. I have lived and grown up in Tacoma the majority of my life and I have noticed a big uptick of those experiencing homelessness in Tacoma across the board. It is a HUGE crisis that many do not have an answer for and there is not enough mental health resources or addiction services to help them on a path to recovery safely and sustainably. The people behind the building have been brought to my attention and I put in cameras surrounding the property 360 degrees as well as motion sensors lighting to make it easier to see outside when it is dark. As for now I would greatly recommend that if you are very passionate about this problem and it is something that you feel that could potentially be jeopardizing to your personal safety I would try to choose places away from bigger cities, as this is an issue persisting in most larger cities across the country. On the bright side despite fearing that there were impending unsafe conditions I am relieved to hear that there wasn't any more serious cause for concern throughout your stay. In that case I always recommend calling 911 in the event of an emergency and fortunately up to this point no guests have felt the need to do that. Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to let me know your concerns.

Best stay in Tacoma

This unit is spacious for one bedroom with great sunlight. It has everything you need for shorter or longer stays. The decorations in this unit are beautiful. The owner prepared everything in detail. The bedroom is big too, with a walk-in closet; we love it! Wish we could stay longer for our trip. Oh, this unit has quicker access to the park lot, which is very convenient. The building is a heritage building. We appreciate the opportunity to stay here. Experiencing the old-style elevator was quite interesting. It is a quiet building. We used the marble stairs to climb up and down, very easy. The lobby area is very cozy, like a library. The neighborhood is quite nice with beautiful views of Tacoma from a high point. Overall, our stay was awesome; we didn't encounter any problems. The owner responded quickly to any questions. For sure we would love to come back again.
