Could use some fall cleaning as there were a bunch of dead bugs around. Also the beds weren’t what was listed. There were no twin beds.

This place was perfect for our us, our older children and their partners. We just stayed one night as we were in Des Moines for the State Fair. Neighborhood was very quiet, Church across the street. Easy to get to, great communication. Very spacious for 8 of us. Will definitely remember this place the next time we are in Des Moines for something.

Won't stay again

No communication back from the host trashcan was still out front full of trash. We had nowhere to put our trash critters in it all night, garbage disposal barbecue grills Traeger none of them worked.The lawn had been cut in weeks. Dandelions were calf high. Outlets in bedrooms wouldn't hold a cord for charging,

Cheap flip

I wish I could post the pictures on here about what we walked into. When we first pulled up to the property, the grass was very overgrown. There were garbage cans in the driveway that were overflowing on to the ground. The property pictures were definitely AI generated.. Once going inside, there were cracks in the walls. The walls were dirty. The house had an odor of marijuana that was covered up with very strong wall air fresheners. Some of the bathroom plugs didn’t work. Overall, we were just needing it for one night for my son‘s graduation. It was very Funny by the time we were dead and was taking pictures of all of the cracks in the walls or the hole in one wall. Picture frames covering up things. I wish I could just post the pictures of what we found while we were there. We’d find something new and I’ll sit around and laugh about it. We were just there to sleep and go about our business the next day, I would not recommend this house if you were doing something that was meaningful. I had to pray over the beds as we slept in because I couldn’t trust that this was probably cleaned properly. The bath mats in the tub were dirty. The basement bathroom smell like mold. Which is very irritating to me because my daughter has a mold allergy that can cause her to have an asthma attack. When we go through the back door was unlocked. Overall, I just wouldn’t recommend this property to anybody. If you have to AI your photos, there’s an issue. These are people that did a cheap flip

Nice property and good location

My friends and I had a wonderful time at this property. The house was very clean and well equipped with what we needed. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us. The location was perfect for the activities we had planned. The neighborhood was quiet. There were several outdoor areas and we did use the one deck. The owners were very nice and answered any questions or issues we might have had. Would definitely stay in one of their properties again. Jane

Quiet neighborhood

This was our second stay at this VRBO. We like the location- very quiet neighborhood and easy to get to. The house was clean. After 30 seconds in the downstairs shower, one family member noticed it was not draining properly. We let them know about the shower, and that we would use the upstairs shower for the remainder of our stay. The host was quick to respond to communication and said their maintenance person had been notified.

Great experience!

If you want to be close to downtown DSM, but want a more relaxing stay, I’d definitely consider this property! The house was very clean, and there is a great deck with a backyard for relaxing!

Adequate

The location was good for our needs. The beds were uncomfortable and kitchen was unstocked with broken cabinets. Bedroom door had cat door that was filthy. Paint job in all rooms was horrible. Lots of decor made house pretty but the structure and cleanliness was not good. Tried to make a meal and had limited equipment. Coffee pot was small and filters were wrong size. Only 4 plate setting. Early spring and storms likely the reason the backyard was not ready for use. Had to clean chairs outside. Not ready for guests. Kitchen and bathrooms did not have proper or enough towels and no dishwasher soap. Barely enough dish soap. Bathroom downstairs had gap in door. Lights and faucets backwards. Modem was turned off but owner quick to respond.

A little rickity but so grateful for a place last minute.

The owner was very helpful and friendly. We booked last minute but had issues with VRBO website. He figured it all out for us. The place could use some TLC...downstairs bathroom door doesn't close and the bed upstairs was clear off the bed frame. We had to fix the frame before we could use it. There was quite a bit of dog hair around the house. Overall we were so grateful for a last minute place to stay.

Very accommodating

We were in Des Moines for state wrestling and it was nice to come back to a comfortable, quiet spot to regroup. Lots of space and the host was quick to answer any questions.

Comfortable and convenient

his split level home was cozy, well kept, and the perfect set up for our family. Our dog very much enjoyed the spacious back yard and the fence on all sides was quite secure. Our host was very accommodating and responsive. When we had to switch our date to allow check in time a day earlier, he was gracious about changing the reservation. Likewise when a member of our party accidentally left behind some items, he kindly requested his cleaning crew to collect them and worked to return them to us. We would highly recommend this home and hope to stay there in the future!

Don't Do It

Our 1st VRBO stay. The surrounding neighborhood is questionable. Low income,dilapidated homes. Front door hardware showed signs of forced entry and had trouble latching. Kitchen faucet not attached to sink base. Water didn't drain down tub upstairs while showering. 2 ceiling fan cords were snapped off and unable to be adjusted. Not enough towels and they were mismatched and on their last leg. No pots/pans for cooking. Stains on couch downstairs. Bed downstairs very uncomfortable and made sounds as if it might break. Some bedside lamps did not work. Basketball hoop with glass broken out. Random scratched up dog door installed on downstairs bedroom door. Stains on carpet upstairs. Home in need of deep consistent cleaning and a good carpenter/painter. Clearly a flip home that was cobbled together. Sadly our 2 families will most likely stick to Holiday Inn Express' or True hotels in the future.
