Wauhatchie Train Depot with Private Hot Tub

Welcome to the Wauhatchie Train Depot at Wauhatchie Woodlands, a Timberroot Rustic Retreat. This unique lodging pays homage to Chattanooga's history as one of the world's most famous railroad hubs. It features 20-foot ceilings, a compact but fully equipped kitchen, and an outdoor living room with a private hot tub. As the name suggests, The Depot is approximately 100 feet from active train tracks, so light sleepers should be aware of potential noise.
The Wauhatchie Train Depot is designed to make your stay in Chattanooga as comfortable as possible. The full kitchen, complete with an oven, cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher, is stocked with all the cooking essentials, including a coffee maker. We even provide complimentary coffee for your convenience.
The spacious tiled bathroom includes an in-unit washer and dryer and is stocked with plush towels and our custom-scented bath products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap).
The staircase leads up to the lofted sleeping area, equipped with a luxurious queen bed and a workstation flanked by photos of historic Chattanooga.
You'll find the spacious outdoor living room with built-in fans out the side door. Relax on the sofa, grill dinner, or soak in your private hot tub.
We are pleased to allow dogs at our Wauhatchie Train Depot, subject to specific terms and conditions. See our pet policy for more information. Pack and Play travel cribs are available upon request.
Chattanooga is a city known for its railroads. There are active train tracks that border the property to the north and I-24 is about half a mile away. Please note that light sleepers may be affected by the ambient city and train noise. Each cabin has been equipped with a white noise machine to help minimize any disturbance.

We arrived at the cabin in the middle of a storm and it was so nice that the lights were left on for us! They even thought of extras that were helpful such as "Pam" for cooking and laundry detergent. I would absolutely stay here again. I'm so glad we were able to find this place. We even had a Christmas tree that was a special extra touch. Definitely worth the 5 stars!

We loved our stay! I couldn’t get over the privacy of this unit! Easy check in and extremely clean! The private hot tub was perfect for a night time soak after a long day exploring the city! If we ever come back to Chattanooga we will be staying here again! Bonus fun we got to see goats roaming the property! We loved our stay!

Perfect!

The cabin was just perfect! My partner and I loved how cute and comfortable it was. Being so close to downtown was perfect and the amenities were great! This cabin is perfect for a nice romantic getaway with your partner

Great place to stay.

Great location. Management made it very easy for us. Very close to train tracks but did not bother us. Great place to stay if visiting Ruby Falls and Lookout Mountain.

Quick overnight

The space was great! Clean and comfortable. Stocked with everything we needed for our quick stay. The trains are loud as disclosed in the listing but we were able to sleep!

Charming Cabin near train tracks

This cabin was everything I needed! Perfect for a cozy stay and loved the hot tub. It is close to the train tracks which didn’t bother me but some people might not enjoy the noise. They did provide earplugs for sleeping but I didn’t need them.

One night at the depot

The depot was such a pretty dainty cabin nestled against the wood and the train tracks.The cabin was very clean.The hot tub was great and very relaxing.Just the subtle hints of Chattanooga railroad history throughout the house was so cool.Only had one night stay with wife but definitely will be back.

Private and fun!

Loved the location, the cabin, and most of all the hot tub! The only recommendations I could make would be to have a better blow dryer and maybe a blender. Easy check in and zero issues with the property. All in all, a 9.8 out of 10. Will stay again!

Train Depot Cabin

This was a private very comfortable cabin. If you cannot handle trains coming by all day and night this is not for you. It was very quiet other than the trains but we knew this in advance. Hot tub could’ve been cleaner, needs a larger coffee pot, and more towels. Overall exactly what we expected and it was a much needed getaway.

Had a memorable stay. Yes there is train noise. The worst part is the trains sounded like they were applying the brakes, a loud metal on metal sound. But the place was nice, clean and everything worked well. TV, ceiling fans, hot tub all worked well. If you’re a sound sleeper go for it.

Loved the stay

Loved the property. Easy check in. Very clean. Only recommendation would be an extra mirror somewhere for getting ready as there is only one in the bathroom it makes it hard for someone to get ready while someone else is showering. Other than that we loved the stay overall

Short get away

The Depot is a fantastic spot for couples. Beautiful house in a very great location a short drive to downtown or ruby falls. The train noise is the only downside. The owners were thoughtful enough to supply with ear plugs and a sound machine, which definitely helped. Overall we would definitely return.

Amazing

Stayed here with my spouse for our anniversary. This cabin is on lookout mountain so it is very close to Ruby Falls and Rock City. The cabin is exceptionally clean. This is a brand new cabin and the owners have taken great care to attend to details. Even though it is nestled in the woods, we did not find a single bug, inside or out! The bed is comfortable and the water pressure was perfect. We were very pleased with our stay and will be booking with this host again.

Exceeded our expectations, great stay!

Cute cabin, looks to be the largest/most isolated cabin on the property. Great setup, slight hiccup getting checked in. I hadn't received the door lock code email and it took a couple tries to reach someone to get in, but everything else was perfect. I would just say to verify you have the info in advance is all. Patio are was great, best bed I've ever had in a cabin/hotel. Would 100% do it again.

The house was beautiful. However….. the description did not say anything regarding the train tracks being next to the house (like 100 ft. from the house). This train was nonstop especially from around 12:00 am to 4:00 am. We did not use the hot tub (major reason I rented this cabin) due to the screeching of the trains wheels right next to us. I thought the house was very clean, unfortunately make sure you keep your shoes on in the house. I got in the shower after walking barefoot in the house and the bottom of my feet were filthy. Other than that…. We had an amazing time.

Tucked away paradise!

Never using VRBO, i didnt know what to expect. The description painted a picture of The Depot cabin and did not disappoint! This adorable loft style cabin was perfect for a couple looking to relax and explore the surrounding area. We did not need anything but our personal belongings and the understanding that there is a train REALLY close. It didnt seem to bother us at all. In preparation for the trip, we started playing train sounds for our white noise at home, totally worked! Gladly will come back next time we are in Tennessee!

They weren’t lying

We were warned about the trains but had no idea it would be this bad. At all times of the day and night there were multiple trains passing. They were so loud it wasn’t possible to have a conversation in the hot tub. I wish I could share a video of the trains passing by because the sounds was really loud and very annoying. Metal on metal grinding. It’s a real shame because we loved the location and the Cabin itself was clean, and had everything we needed. If not for the trains we would definitely return but I think we will try someplace else if we return to Chattanooga.

The Depot

Very comfortable accommodations, lovely setting. This place is really only suitable for two. We enjoyed the area very much, the hot tub was clean and the bed was comfy. Appreciated the couple of things in the cabin when we arrived, coffee filters, coffee, shampoo, hand soap etc. We had difficulty getting the A/C to work but it was cool enough that it wasn't an issue, couldn't get the ceiling fans to work either. Could be user error but we were fine. Not kidding about the noise from the trains so definitely take that seriously if you are annoyed by noise like that. My only disappointment was no fire pit for our particular place, they do have community fire pits so we did that a couple of times but it would be preferred by us anyway to have one next to the cabin.
