Nuestro hermoso patio trasero completamente vallado de 60 x 65 pies te brinda la privacidad que mereces y la tranquilidad de saber que tu mascota tiene mucho espacio para las piernas. We had a great time here. The beds were comfortable, the lakes were perfect, and everyone was so nice. I definetly recommend Beach one which is within walking distance. There were 2 playgrounds and a concession stand there as well. We were a short drive from Lego land and it was just an hour to Newark from where we took the train to NYC. Would love to stay here again.

Good weekend getaway with the dogs

For the dogs: our dogs enjoyed the big fenced-in backyard. There's also a HUGE fenced-in dog run a few minutes drive away. For the humans: My wife and I enjoyed the gaming options (Xbox, Playstation, and an arcade machine). There's a nice little town a few minutes drive away, with a supermarket, CVS, and decent coffee and food options.

Highland Lakes

The beds, bathroom and kitchen were clean. We enjoyed the gaming systems a great deal. We also enjoyed to outdoor space with firepit and hammock. My kids enjoyed the outdoor toys and ability to fill up and small kids pool to play. Beach 1 was very close to the house but walking there would have been a challenge with 2 young kids on a somewhat busy road. Overall, we had a good time. The owner was quick in responding to my questions and concerns and made adjustments with our needs which was appreciated. I was not thrilled having to pay to use the washer and dryer and the home does need some updating.

K My family of 5 and 2 dogs were in the area for the wedding and this property was perfect for all our needs. Michael the host checked in with us upon arrival and ensured that we knew he was there if we needed him. In addition, the property was full of detailed instructions of how to navigate the household and how to stay safe. My children loved the coin operated arcade and by using quarters it limited their time (so they can go outside and enjoy the fresh mountain air!). Everything was just as Michael had outlined on VRBO and his emails. The mattresses were nice and comfortable, we had access to on site coin operated laundry facilities just for us in case we needed it, the air conditioning operated well, and the TV was big and provided us access to watch the Olympics and pretty much any thing else we wanted (something I was not looking for but really helped at night). We did not get a chance to explore the area as much as we wanted to (but don’t worry, we will be back), but we were able to walk the dogs around on a road behind the house that gave us beautiful views of the lake, we did notice that we had easy access to delicious Jersey pizza, and if we wanted, could go to the water park or legoland. Finally, having dogs, it was nice to have a fenced in yard and space to place our crates. Our dogs loved the new smells and were exhausted when we came back home. We are definitely going to stay here again and would definitely recommend this property for any one with a family of

Perfect weekend

My family was down for the Spartan race weekend. The property is in a perfect location for proximity to the mountain, as well as Beaches and playgrounds for the kids. It comfortably fit four adults and two kids, and the fenced yard was great for the dog. Michael is a thoughtful and responsive owner, and we are looking forward to staying again next time we are down.

Overall Great Stay, but some words of caution.

My stay here for an extended weekend was certainly nice. The cottage while on the smaller end is very nice from a design standpoint and the fenced in backyard is really amazing especially since Michael is extremely welcoming to dogs which we greatly appreciated. My experience with Michael was great and he made sure check in was easy and checked in on us after the first day at the cottage, really nice! I have to be 100% honest with my review despite having such a good experience with Michael, I have to say the listing is not totally accurate as the master bedroom does not have a memory foam mattress. My wife and I constantly fell into the middle of the bed, making sleeping difficult for us who are used to a firmer mattress. I have to also say that it’s very shocking to see a coin operated washer/dryer in the unit, with a cash machine, and a coin operated arcade game, all were a first for me in the many years I’ve been using rentals like this. And I mean good business, and definitely capitalism at its finest it’s just off putting and takes away from the charm you want when renting a VRBO. The only other issue happened on the second night there when the fire detector went off at 3am twice. It was also extremely hot, as the main thermostat was under a hotel style lock box, so while AC units are there, it battled with the heat, which I would assume costs more money then giving ppl access to the temp control but we made it work. Overall 4/5

Highland Cottage stay

Easy to find and navigate from. We were there for my sister in law’s memorial service . Weather did not permit us to use or discover all the things to do there. Hopefully the next trip we will. Everything you could think of needing was provided and labeled. Will definitely stay again. Very affordable. Thank you again for a comfortable stay.

We stayed in the house for a week, we liked it a lot, and the backyard for my dog was completely closed with fences. there are several beaches, lakes around, we kayaked, there are supermarkets nearby, and we even went to Kalahary an hour and a half from the house, thanks Mike, we will rent again soon

Great house for family. Nice fenced in backyard to keep the dog and toddler close and safe. Home was clean and just as described. The beach is beautiful but it was too early in season for swimming. Lifeguards on duty only weekend and everyday starting June 24. Will plan on returning but later in season to enjoy the beaches and water park. We went to Castle fun center and enjoyed our stay!

I love being in the business of hospitality. Although Highland Lakes Cottage is not a true B&B, as you will be renting the entire house, I'll always be a text or phone call away to assist you with anything you need. I've been renting out the cottage since 2011 and over the years I've had the opportunity to chat with a lot of great guests and enjoyed sharing stories and having a laugh or two with them.

Most guests don't come to the cottage to hang out inside the cottage - most come to enjoy activities close by such as skiing or going to the water park at Mountain Creek, hiking at the nearby state parks, apple or pumpkin picking, fishing, boating, or swimming at any one of the 5 lakes in town, hunting, to experience the beauty of autumn in a mountain community, mountain biking, wine tasting at a winery, antiquing, to go to the drive in movie theater close by (one of the few left in the country), or even to take a hot air balloon ride!

On the other hand, once guests arrive they are pleased to find that the house itself holds a wealth of enjoyment with a big TV in the living room, streaming services such as Netflix / Commercial Free Hulu Plus / Amazon Prime, and with a huge fire pit in the back yard, a gas grill, and a hammock, many guests simply enjoy hanging out in the back yard and enjoying their privacy as it's completely fenced in.

Someday, I would love to own and operate a true B&B because not only do I love to cook but I also like taking care of guests and serving people - rather then just hearing about their vacation, I could personally be a part of it.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

I chose this property because of its proximity to the lakes and its large / relatively flat back yard. Many properties I looked at either had small back yards or steep slopes or rocks jetting out of the ground. One other feature I really liked was that the home sits between two streets (front and rear) and because of this, you only have 2 instead of 3 neighbors.

Over the years I have worked hard improving the cottage and property by fencing in the back yard, getting a massive and beautiful fire pit, while also providing modern and useful electronics.

It has an old school, warm, charming, campy feel. You will feel the full force of nature in our 60 x 65 foot completely fenced in back yard ... grass, huge fire pit, wood, bird bath, window bird feeder, a bunch of wind chimes, hammock, grill, trees, open space, seating, birds coming and going, stars, and moon light.

Inside the home you will get a cozy country feel, but this is no cabin in the woods where you are cut off from humanity ... because subtly sprinkled throughout the home are all the technologies you have become accustomed to ... High Speed Wifi, a Huge TV, USB charging ports, blue tooth AM FM Radio allowing you stream music from your phone or tablet, and 2 Video Game Systems (PS4 & XBOX ONE S) with literally 100s of games pre installed in addition to an Authentic Coin-Op Arcade Cabinet.
