Over 3200 square feet of Victorian Elegance from its stained glass windows to its grand oak staircase. This Victorian Painted Lady is a show stopper. She is welcoming and inviting. She has been lovingly updated with a great room, solarium and walk in bath on the main floor. The grounds are stunning...with 4 white arbors, a large metal gazebo, garden statuaries, beautifully landscaped gardens, covered sectional, fire pit, grill and picnic table all surrounded by a white picket privacy fence. Bring the whole family because there are 4 bedrooms , 3 baths, and a full kitchen. Also perfect for that girls weekend of crafting, painting etc because the space is also an event venue for weddings & parties. 1/2 hour to Iowa City and the University of Iowa. Take in a Hawkeye Game or 20 minutes to Kalona's Amish shops & bakeries. Downtown Washington is 1 block away with its picturesque square, shops, restaurants & the world's oldest continuously running theater. Is she haunted.... Yes.... The house was absolutely stunning! The host was very kind and reached out to check in and see if we needed anything. It was within walking distance from the center of town and restaurants. Would highly recommend this property and its hosts.

Perfect for a large group

In town for a family function, this was a great landing spot for our group of five adults and seven kids! Walkable to everything we needed.

Big beautiful old home

This was a very interesting home, beautifully decorated, would make a lovely venue for a small wedding or bridal shower. The outdoor space was really nice. We were only there a couple of days but it was a nice home base for our garage sale/flea market search. What Cher flea market was about 40 minutes away.

Awesome!

It was a wonderful house to spread out yet all be together. Such history in the house details ! We loved being able to purchase the baskets right on the spot the owner makes as well. We would stay again !

Family Gathering

We loved this house! Gave us plenty of room to spread out, indoors and out. We were able to bring the dogs as well. Location was amazing, we loved the walkability to the downtown area for restaurants and shopping and it's just blocks from the bike trail as well! Thanks for a great stay!

A lovely family weekend at the Grand Victorian

My family's stay for Christmas was just what we were looking for. We loved having a big area to be all together, and that the facility accommodated all of our sleeping arrangements. It was also so nice to be able to bring our pups. Sandy was very easy to communicate with and the rules and notes on the house seems very self explanatory. We are grateful for our stay and have many happy memories there to cherish!

Weekend Getaway

The property was better than expected! The pictures do not do this place justice. The home was clean, cozy and super spacious. The host was great at communicating and didnt forget any small detail when prepping the home for guests to have everything they need and then some to enjoy their stay. Great place

Thanks so much for a very nice place to stay for my family, when we gathered with our extended family . We needed a few more bedrooms to sleep. Your place was very acomodating and very nicely deocorated for Christmas. The only thing is that the carpet was very soiled in the down stairs. I understand when you have a wedding party you would have a lot of tracking in on the carpet. It was a very nice quality carpet, just hopefully you clean it once in while. Thanks for a great stay. Sorry this is so late.

Thank you so much for your input. We have had it cleaned multiple times in the past year which has not worked. We are in the process of having it dyed to take care of the discoloration.

Girls Night Aug. 24th, 2024

Overall a lovely lovely house! I honestly wish I could have a house like this! The house is so spacious! The house looked so nice! We originally picked this house because it was the only one we could find in the area a month or so in advance that could sleep 8 people but ended up with just 7 girls (myself included). We had a little mishap on check-in but that I’m not blaming that on the host since it was my first time using vrbo and the host was easily able to help us. I could totally see our group coming back to this house to rent again perhaps for a longer stay! The host had the house ready to go long before the original time unfortunately our scavenger hunt with the girls took longer than expected and we were late clocking in. Being able to come here after our day full of activities was very relieving and relaxing and we just had a fun night catching up with everyone who attended. Strongly recommend! PS did not know the house had some paranormal experiences but was really fun to look at and read the notebook sitting next to the rule book. The only sad part was having to checkout but we know better to plan a longer stay next time, so long as the host will have us!
