BLUF: Unauthorized late night entry to property occurred due to owner negligenceWhen we first checked into the property, we were impressed by the cleanliness, decor, and location of the property. We left for dinner and returned to the house around midnight. Four individuals were standing in the front yard. We spoke to these individuals, who stated that they booked this property on another service, received the door code from the host, and ENTERED THE RESIDENCE before encountering my dog and realizing the property was not vacant. They assured us they were not inside for long and would be leaving to find another place to stay. We were forced to conduct an inventory of our belongings in order to assure nothing had been stolen during this unauthorized entry. My party was upset by the incident and felt concerned that these individuals had entered the property and still had access to the property as we had no way to change the code.I was able to get in touch with Arin (host) approximately 12 hours later. She apologized and acknowledged a double booking had occurred. She stated that she would change the code remotely. She was never able to change the lock code and instead the “new” code I received disabled the lock for a 10 min. The old code worked later and was never changed.Afterwards, Arin blamed the situation on her lack of phone service and never responded to my message further explaining the situation and requesting a suitable partial refund be issued.
