Great atmosphere, wonderfully magical Christmas experience! Brad had a fire started in the outdoor fire pit when we got there, ample room in the living room for enjoying a movie by the gas fireplace and to open presents, very comfortable beds, perfect decor, everything in the kitchen needed for preparing Christmas dinner, great property, friendly animals. Only thing missing was a dining room table for eating at, but we made it work with the island. Side note, if using the large tub, it takes most of the hot water and a little time for it to heat back up. Fun experience!

We had a wonderful time. There were six of us ladies. The only thing we missed was a table to sit around and eat together and play cards at. We enjoyed watching the Highland cattle. Just beware this home is in the country in a beautiful setting, but you must go down a gravel road. Thanks to our host!

My sisters and I had a great time at The Highland House. It was peaceful and private and just what we were looking for to relax and reconnect. The house was extremely clean and well-supplied. The pool was so beautiful and we enjoyed having it to ourselves. Brad and his wife even brought us "snacks" to feed the cows. So fun to be able to see them up close. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home!!!

Friendly owners brought us food to feed the wonderful Highland Cows. They also brought us a table so we could play cards as there is no table, just a bar and stools. They were so quick to answer the questions I had before we arrived. And Super congenial!I suggest one arrives during the day, as the home is difficult to find after dark.The beds were all really comfortable with nice linens.The 4 beds upstairs I can vouch for as I slept in one. It was warm in the upstairs sleeping area the first night, but better the other nights. One big bathroom and one smaller bathroom. There were eight adults and it was a bit crowded. But, it sleeps eight comfortably. The steps to the upstairs were steep and not great for us sixty-somethings. But amazing for some younger people. The home could use a deep clean. Loved having a washer and dryer.

Great Country Getaway

We had a great time at Highland House. The property is immaculate and spacious, quiet and private. We had a great stay. The herd of highland cattle just steps from the front door was an added bonus!

Quiet, Clean, Relaxing

Great place for my wife and I to unwind and relax. Very clean, comfortable furniture and bed. If we ever come back to Missouri, we would stay here again.

Relaxing in the Country

Highland House is spectacularly clean and has all the amenities you could wish for during your stay. We brought our own food and condiments and either cooked inside or outdoors on the propane grill. The pool water was warm and being in it was a wonderful way to spend our evenings. We enjoyed watching wild birds, butterflies, and the Scottish Highland Cattle when we sat in the rocking chairs on the front porch. With the house being built into the side of the hill, the main floor bedrooms were quiet and dark. Oh, yeah.... and that massage chair in the living room....AHHHH.

Mother/Daughter trip

Nice area to kick back and relax. We were able to shop, antique, and go out to eat in all directions from the house. If you desire more than that to do St. Josephs or Kansas City is just a little over an hour away. Great house and great area. Loved it!!

Amazing Getaway

Quiet, clean, peaceful.... Pick your own superlative wording and you can't go wrong. Property manager was quick to answer questions and address and concerns. Was the perfect setting for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary.

Hidden away oasis

Two couples, friends for 40 years, stayed two nights while visiting Missouri Star Quilt Co. Such a beautiful home! Loved all of these amenities: the pool, the gas grill (thanks for the fresh propane!), the outdoor fire pit, the kitchen, the massage chair, and of course, the bedrooms and bathrooms. Everything was clean and fresh, and so many plush towels! It had everything you could want or need, including the Scottish Highland cattle, which were lovely. I highly recommend a stay at this VRBO!

We (6 friends) stayed at The Highland House because we wanted to get away from everything and just relax. The house itself was amazing. The fire pit and pool are so relaxing. Loved watching the Highland cows. Kind of in the middle of nowhere, which is exactly why we went. Will definitely stay again. Perfect!

Great stay in the country

My dad and I brought my 12 year old son & nephew for the USA soccer game in Kansas City, and this was the perfect spot for us. It was super quaint & quiet, the pool was fantastic, the kids thought the cows were really cool, and the house was very nice. Exactly what you see on the listing.

GREAT STAY!

This place is even better in person than it looks online. It is so clean and beautifully decorated. All of the linens, throws, beds, towels were incredibly comfortable. There were so many great touches like robes, laundry detergent, etc that are rare finds at other rentals. There was also an extremely comfortable massage chair that all of the adults enjoyed. Would highly recommend to others!

Hospitable Hosts and Spacious Accomodations

We were visiting NW Missouri for my mom's birthday and were resigned to staying at a Comfort Inn before finding this gem on VRBO. A charming, well appointed home for which the owners took great care decorating and stocking for guests. The host went above and beyond to give us a tour and history of the farm, mom couldn't have been more delighted. I would highly recommend this home to anyone traveling in the area. Thank you to Webb Cattle Company and to the Webb family that made us feel welcome.

Sister’s Trip

We took a sister’s trip to Missouri Quilt Star in Hamilton, MO. This country home was only 15 minutes away. Our stay was great! It was well worth the extra money to have a private pool. We shopped during the day and spent our late afternoons and evenings in the pool. We drank our morning coffee under the covered porch in the rocking chairs watching the Highland cows in the pasture. It was perfect. At night we watched movies on demand with an easy to use remote and about every channel available. Everything was as shown in the pictures. There was a bit of white rock roads to travel. The countryside was beautiful! I recommend you drive slow and enjoy!

Best place for a relaxing girls weekend!

A group of my college friends and I rented the Highland house for a girls weekend reunion. Girls came from Minnesota, St. Louis, Colorado, and Kansas City. We are all in our 30s now and many have kids, so we wanted peace and quiet and a place for a larger group to gather. We certainly found it! The house was immaculately clean, beautiful, and very relaxing. We had 8 girls and it was big enough for all of us. I've rented quite a few vrbos and this one was the best stocked with little touches (bath bombs, epsom salts, eye masks,extra toothbrush if you forgot yours, slippers, robes, etc). We loved all the little details! The pool was perfectly clear when we arrived and has a big sun umbrella and plenty of recliner/zero gravity chairs. We spent a lot of time by the pool! The firepit is huge and also had more than enough seating for all of us, plus a grill, outdoor table, and bar area. Brad was great! Came over and lit a fire for us in the pit when we got there. Also made sure we had plenty of firewood for the weekend, extra propane for the grill, and roasting sticks for smores. When I asked before our trip if there was a blender he replied immediately that he would get one for us. I love cows and he also arranged for his daughter to bring treats over so we could feed the mini highlands. She was very sweet! She also took us across the street to their barn and we got to help feed the bottle babies. Highlight of the trip! As was the massage chair! We hope to come back again one day.

We loved this house! It was super cozy and decorated so cute – the highland cow touches everywhere were adorable, and we loved being able to see the cows during our stay. The pool was perfect for relaxing, and the whole place had such a peaceful vibe. It was exactly what we needed for a little getaway. The owner was great at communicating and we would definitely stay here again!
The views were so peaceful!

Such wonderful place! It’s so peaceful and relaxing! We spent most of our time in the pool or sitting outside. They had so many amenities and have thought of everything! Great communication with the hosts! We would definitely rent again! We loved the highland cows and the decor in the house made it feel like home!
