Our extended family of 8 had a great stay, house was stocked well for our needs. The host was very accommodating and quick to answer messages. Beautiful property and location.

This property needs urgent care

The location and area are wonderful. The property COULD be a gem, but it is in terrible disrepair. The house inside, while perhaps not outfitted for people who cook a lot, is decent. But when we checked in, the exterior was a shambles. Grass half cut and lawnmower left on the sidewalk, gardens not weeded or cared for, pool cold and dirty, hot tub not working, and not clean, no propane tank for the bbq, the dock in disrepair to the point of being dangerous. A note was left for us saying that the host was on her way with propane, and would finish the grounds keeping. 24 hours later, no evidence of propane or cleaning, and frankly, it would have taken a team days to complete the necessary work to ready the property for rentals. And to top it off, a family tried to check in the middle of our booking. Poor people. The property was apparently double booked. In the state it was in during our stay, it should not be listed on VRBO, or anywhere.

Terrible Experience - Bait and Switch

We arrived to what I would describe as a complete bait and switch. The pool was rotten. It was growing parasitic worms and mosquito larvae. Not just unusable, but outright gross. I should note it was also covered by a tarp what was pinned down with cement blocks. Incredibly unsafe for anyone who might have inadvertently fallen in. 100% a drowning hazard to leave a pool like that. And to top it off, there was a live extension cord sitting a foot away from the pool. Yikes.... The hot tub was half full and non-functional. It appears to have been dormant for months and the water simply evaporated out. The lawn hadn't been mowed in months either. An attempt had been made, but with only about 1/3 of the lawn mowed, grass clippings strewn about and the other 2/3 about a foot high it would be been better had the attempt not been made. The house itself was nice enough, however the grounds were a complete bait and switch. And given the property is marketed heavily based on the amenities this was false advertising. Our group arrived late on a Friday and had no option but to stay overnight, but we vacated the next day. Upon contact VRBO we've been getting the runaround. After three points of contact with VRBO, we get the same story "We're working on it..." and no resolution seems forthcoming. Do not book this property.

My name is Shelley. I am originally from the Mainland and Sunshine Coast of B.C. I was an avid NHRA Drag Racer up until I retired in 1995 and moved to the island.
This is my first year hosting and I love it. I love the people and the stories they have come to tell.
I am a working grandmother of three beautiful boys . A self employed cleaner for Air BnBs , private owners and commercial businesses as well.
The part I enjoy most about being a host is pleasing our guests. When they leave with a smile , I know I am fulfilled.
Anything that you may need or want , I try to make happen or come up with the best alternative.
I strive to do my best.

I let the neighborhood choose me. I call it , " the law of attraction ". It's the breathtaking scenery, the smell of the ocean breeze and the rural area which reminds me so much of home.
The ocean on one side and the mountains on the other side.
Let me not forget about the beautiful sunrise from the east with your morning cup of coffee and the tranquilizing sunset with your glass of wine in the evening .
