This spacious property is the perfect homebase for all your Ely area adventures. If you mt bike or nordic ski, or just like to walk beautiful trails through the woods, you'll love the convenient, quiet, and forested location. If you like restaurants, the arts and fun-outdoorsy shops, you're in luck too - located at the city limits, less than a half mile from the grocery store. If you need a jumping off point into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, this is your spot as well, with amenities such as a deck, a dishwasher and a full laundry room.

November-December considerations for family gatherings are the well-appointed kitchen and large dining table (new pictures just uploaded!) Hidden Valley Nordic Ski trails are also groomed early season, sometimes as soon as Nov 20th (fat biking is a shoulder-season option of course too!)

Loved staying “in the woods” and being so close to town!! Wonderful living space lined with windows to view visiting wildlife. Large, well equipped kitchen.

The home was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals. Communication was smooth and everything was ready when we arrived.There were plenty of books and games to keep us busy.We were close enough to town to be able to grab a quick bite but far enough away that we were in the woods. We saw deer and several kinds of birds right outside the window!

It was a great get away location. Close to different hiking trails and minutes from downtown. Loved the big kitchen. Lots of nature, bear within 50 feet. If we find ourselves back in the area, would stay here again.

Great place to stay! Initially communication w/ property owner was a challenge, but after we arrived and needed to reach out the communication was prompt. I'd definitely stay again, but one thing to be aware of--this is actually part of partially underground 3 or 4 unit building--so while this has a lot of windows, it's also basement level and the forest is within arms length of the window, so you never see the sun. I'd also suggest leaving a folder or sign somewhere w/ checkout instructions---we had to send messages asking for both check in and checkout instructions. But great spot for exploring Ely, the state parks, mesabi trail, many hiking trails and the BWCA.

Lovely home. Great location! Enjoyed the tub. More washcloths would have been nice and kitchen dish towels as well. Bummed there wasn't a Scrabble board game. We forgot ours at home. Doh! Tried to find one in town second hand, planning to leave it there for you guys. LOL. Only one we found was in Ben Franklin and was 40! Whoa, Nelly! Needless to say, we didn't buy it. Was pretty humid and buggy all weekend so didn't get to enjoy the patio, but it's lovely; we really wanted to be able to. Oh well, next time! Defiantly we want to have a next time. Only complaint is, in your notes to guests before arrival please include the fact that the area is in a black out space, there are no street lights past Main St. We got in around 10 Pm, kinda tired from the 4 hour drive, and we just about lost our minds trying to find the cabin in the woods with only our headlights to help us see. You'd think headlights would be enough, interestingly they are not. We got very turned around with all the inlets to other places, and missed the sign a couple times. If you included photos of what the cabin as a whole looks like in the parking area, that would have helped us a lot just figuring out if we were in the right place or not. We did find it, then couldn't recognize anything, drove out again, came back. I'm telling you we thought we were in The Twilight Zone there for a few minutes. LOL now, but not in the moment. We took one of the winter catalogs of things to do and we hope to come then!

Family trip

Our family went to Ely to ride the ATV trails. The property is very close to the trails and easy to get into town. The property was clean and a great place to come back to at night after a long day of trails. The neighbor was horrible so be aware.

Outstanding experience!

We *loved* our stay. I knew the location would be great (basically next door to the International Wolf Center in Ely), but I didn't know in advance how spacious, quiet, and green the place would be. We enjoyed playing a number of the board games in the evenings. My spouse and I were both especially taken by the adorable groundhog who lives outside under the deck, and who popped up at times to bathe in the summer sun.

First Ely Visit

The unit is extremely nice. Great location a short distance to town, trails and lakes. Our family would recommend this location to anyone visiting the Ely area.

Wonderful family getaway

Peaceful Place to Stay

The location is ideal. It is within a couple minutes of town, and yet out in the woods and nature. We loved being able to use the wood stove and being within walking distance to the International Wolf Center. There were a couple maintenance issues when we first checked in, but the host quickly took care of them.

Northwoods Retreat

Our stay was relaxing, comfortable, and amazing. The view of the wooded ravine from the living room windows made you feel like you were deep in the woods. The apartment had plenty of space to spread out, while at the same time feeling cozy and comfortable. The facilities were better than advertised and Heather answered all of our questions. Heather, thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back again.

Close to town but feels well removed

Worked out great for my stay in Ely. Just outside town in a wooded setting - so a nice balance between environment and convenience. Price was very reasonable. I was not clear that there are other attached apartment properties on the site - was only drawback. But hardly even heard (never saw them) the others so no big deal in the end. If headed xc skiing or mtn biking - house is on the entrance road to Hidden Valley so incredibly easy access.

Pretty nice place to stay.

This was a nice place, however, the fact it is a multiplex was not touched upon in the description. There were at least 2 other parties there. They were in no way disruptive to our stay. Wouldn't have known they were there were it not for their vehicles. Just would have liked to known in advance it is a multiplex.

Trails, trails, trails at the contiguous Hidden Valley recreation area - non motorized, of course! These trails are well maintained year-round by Ely Nordic Ski & Bike Club (memberships appreciated!) The property has a "Minnesota Mountain" feel, surrounded by woods and located on a short gravel road (one could coast on their bike all the way into town, about a half mile or so.)

Comfortable home-base for all outdoor activities described above - including a full kitchen, comfortable beds, hot shower/bath, and laundry area. The great room is the perfect place to gather in the evening after a full day on the trails or exploring Ely's nearby (and walkable) downtown.
