Nostalgic Retro Cottage, Blocks Away from Mississippi River. Full Fenced in Yard

Hello! My husband & I have been updating my childhood home into a fun, quirky, immersive & comfortable environment!

Off of 1-90, close to local bars & restaurants, Walgreens, McDonald's, Starbucks & a midwest fav; Kwik Trip. 10 minute drive to La Crosse Center, UWL and Downtown La Crosse.

Dog & kid friendly! Toddler bed for either your toddler or dog. Kid & dog toys. Pack & Play. Books & Magazines. Reading Nook. Activities. Dog Treats & Bowls. FULL FENCED IN YARD

We also decorate for all holidays

Boat and driveway parking available.

*We charge a $30 pet fee, please add your pet to your reservation, we also do not allow dogs that are not housetrained. If you are unsure how your dog will do in an unfamiliar place, please bring a kennel or we have them to rent for $10 per stay. We charge $100 for any dog that soils on rugs.*

Honestly the cutest place we have ever stayed! The Halloween decorations were a fun touch for our spooky little family, and our toddler especially appreciated the toys and books. It was such a special, cozy stop that felt like home. The location was perfect: tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but still close to downtown. The host, Jaimie, even gave us phenomenal restaurant recommendations. We definitely hope to be back one day! Thanks again!

Beautiful property, we loved the location so close to the boat ramp. The nostalgic theme is well done very cool. The interior was spotless, orderly, and well maintained.The hosts are truly world class. A model for VRBO.We had a great trip and can’t wait to get back.

Faye's place was perfect for our one night stay after a concert at the La Crosse Center. We enjoyed the vintage/theme decor. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment we needed to make and serve breakfast. The host responded quickly to questions. Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay was short, but this home was the perfect overnight getaway for our family of 5. The home looked exactly as described. It was so clean, welcoming, and comfy. We loved the attention to detail throughout the house and the personal touches too. The gazebo was a great place to relax at the end of the day too. We’ll definitely look to stay here again next time we’re in the area!

There are several important observations to share regarding our recent stay:Strong Chemical Odor: The smell of insect poison (such as Raid) was pervasive throughout the unit. It was so strong that even clean clothes hung in the closet absorbed the odor.Pest Presence: We encountered roaches in the sinks, which likely explains the heavy use of chemical repellents.Tobacco Smell: In addition to the chemical odor, there was a lingering smell of stale tobacco smoke, which made the environment less pleasant.Unclean Entry Area: The gate handle at the entrance was caked in bird droppings, which gave a poor first impression and posed a hygiene concern.Dishwasher Non-Functional: The dishwasher was not in working condition during our stay.Safety Concern: The steps leading to the entryway are in need of a handrail for safety, especially for guests with mobility concerns.Responsive Ownership: On a positive note, when the hot water stopped working, the owner promptly replaced the heating element the same afternoon, which was appreciated.Overall Impression:While some issues could be overlooked, the overwhelming and persistent odors (chemical and tobacco) were the most difficult to tolerate. Under normal circumstances, we would have looked for alternate accommodations upon arrival, but due to the lack of availability of other two-bedroom properties, we chose to stay and make the best of the situation.

Lacrosse cottage

My husband and I, both seniors, and our elderly dog very much enjoyed our 5 day stay at faye's place. All on one floor,clean,quiet,comfortable,well outfitted, everything we needed!We also very much enjoyed the fenced yard and gazebo,good for reading and napping. Our grandkids visited and loved all the vintage "toys". Also hosts very responsive when a repair was needed Faye's place is very special!

There's so much to love this little house: fun decor and themed rooms, the history of the home and connection to the owners, nice quiet neighborhood, walking distance to the river, easy drive to downtown, fabulous backyard for the pup. Communication from the owners was fantastic. My college-age daughters and I enjoyed playing games, watching movies, walking the neighborhood, finding new restaurants, exploring parks and walking paths, and hanging downtown. My dachshund really enjoyed the backyard! There's also an adorable screened gazebo out there. Highly recommend, would stay again!

Everything we needed

This is a well located property, short distance to basic needs and attractions. Property is clean and inviting and has a very home like feel. The yard is fenced in and kept our small dogs safe and secure.We definitely will be back.

We LOVE this home, neighborhood and city. We brought a shelter dog with us to get a night away and the host is so gracious opening her place for this opportunity. Mia had the time of her life, and we did too, and we will be back!

Jaime was very responsive. The house was cute and kitschy. On a very quiet street. The two corgis across the street are adorable. Everything you’d want in a stay!

Great Stay!

Great communication! Super price for the area. We've stayed her two times now for a sport's tournament and it was the perfect place to relax each evening. Clean, cute, had everything we needed and much better than staying in a noisy hotel with the rest of the team :) The owners are great--super friendly too!

My husband and I got married in June 2023, 2 days before my mom passed away. Being an only child, and having my dad passing away 13 years earlier, I was left my childhood home. I didn't have the heart to part with it, so we put a lot of work in the home to turn it into a VRBO.

We have 2 kids (4 & 8) and 4 dogs. We live right across the river in Minnesota and enjoy traveling, geocaching and seeing oddities. Spencer enjoys fishing, especially ice fishing.

It's my childhood home. :) The yard is a work in progress but we will be refurbishing the gazebo in the back, building a butterfly garden and placing a geocache in the back.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Each room is specially curated to my moms, dads and my family interests. The master bedroom is a rock and roll theme; my mom and I went to a lot of concerts! The spare bedroom is a railroad theme; my dad worked for Candian Pacific Railway. I have spent a lot of time on the details and my heart has been poured into this project.
