About this space

Come visit us in West Beach one of the oldest continuously inhabited beach villages in California… Take in all the gorgeous views of Santa Barbara while having easy foot access to best in town local restaurants, wineries, breweries, farmers markets and Funk Zone shopping. You are in the center of it all. Did we mention the beaches? Turn left at bike path and head to Stearns Wharf, East Beach or Butterfly Beach. Turn right and you've got the Marina, Leadbetter Beach and Shoreline Park.

The space

Blue Heron Retreat was built in 1927 and has all the characteristics of a well-built Spanish Mission style duplex with tiled roof, thick rounded white walls and authentic Spanish tiles. From every angle, outside and in, gorgeous views fill the eye. Big trees and beautiful gardens in every direction. Birds abound. Shade and sun. Outdoor seating. Paradise.

We furnished our home soulfully and joyfully to reflect the respect we feel for our space. You will see authentic, handmade Turkish rugs and decor all around with some art that we gathered from all over the world during our travels. You will also see the feather blessings of the Blue Herons that live on the trees right above our property.

Premises

This house is a duplex and you will be staying in the downstairs unit. We have free parking available in the driveway (up to two mid-size cars) as well as street parking (check the street signs for days and hours).

Living Room

Extra large living room with a glorious 8 person dining table, a queen pull-out couch/bed and a romantic fireplace. Large half moon front window looks out to our lush and sunny front garden.

* Parties of 6 would have to use the queen pull out couch in the living room as one of the beds. Bed is comfortable and our living room is very open and large but please keep in mind that privacy would be limited for parties of 6.

Bedroom 1
Queen bed with organic wool and latex Japanese shikibuton and walk in closet.

Bedroom 2 (small)
A cozy room with a twin daybed that pulls out to become a king bed. This room also opens to the backyard with a sweet little seating area to enjoy the pine trees above and views of Santa Barbara mountains as backdrop.

* Please note that this room is small when the daybed is opened to a king size bed. It has a mini clothes rack for your clothes and bags.

Bathroom
A large full bathroom with clawfoot tub and Spanish tiles.

Kitchen
A fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and a cute kitchen nook for small group meals. Morning coffee on us! We have a few staples like olive oil, salt and pepper. We also have reverse osmosis water filter in the kitchen.

Laundry
Washing machine and dryer is available on premises. Laundry room can be accessed from your kitchen. Detergent is available in the laundry room. Please contact host for access.

Front Yard
Enjoy our beautiful West Beach neighborhood in our front yard seating area.

Guest access
Keypad access, we will send you a code along with instructions before your arrival.
