Located on Leonard Lake, this 2BR waterfront retreat is the ideal choice for a tranquil getaway. Nestled on a 1.5-acre wooded lot, your vacation rental has a private dock for fishing and swimming, a firepit, and a gas grill. With stunning sunsets from the dock and amazing views from within the home, you find yourself surrounded by quiet while within the city. A perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

When you want to explore, downtown Ellsworth is 5 minutes away, while Acadia National Park is 30 minutes from home.

LIVING AREA

Unwind on the sectional in the sunlit living area, which has an electric fireplace and a smart TV.

KITCHEN & DINING

The updated kitchen is appointed with a full suite of stainless steel appliances, ample counter space, and a four-person kitchen bar.

A bistro table seats two for meals.

BED & BATH

This home sleeps four guests in two bedrooms.

The primary bedroom has a king bed, while the second bedroom has two twin beds. The bathroom is configured with a walk-in shower.

OUTDOOR AREA & AMENITIES

The wooded backyard features a shady oasis to sit & enjoy blissful days. A private dock is perfect for fishing and swimming. Take the provided kayaks out on the lake.

Make use of the gas grill and host an afternoon cookout. In the evening, gather around the wood-burning firepit.

The house was cozy and inviting. We loved the view out back! The path is well lit to walk to the pier. The harvest moon occurred during our stay and it was an amazing view off the pier. The house had everything we needed and is the perfect location for day trips around the area. A basket of brochures and travel books helped tremendously while we planned our day trips. Thank you for a great stay!

A very quaint and cozy house. Beautiful view of Lake Leonard. Very close to Ellsworth. The owner's had a detailed sheet of places to go and eat. Momo's cheesecake was delicious. Union River Lobster Pot was spot on for lobster. We also enjoyed Helen's. We would definitely stay again.

Very convenient location and nice lake view. Less than desirable properties surrounding the home, unfortunately.All VRBO properties we have stayed at had some kind of welcome basket - this did not. No contact info for the owner inside, which would have been handy. It definitely felt like more of a rental, rather than a home away from home.

Beautiful and tranquil lake home. All the necessities were there. Owners left a wonderful booklet on places to eat and shop- was very helpful! Momo’s cheesecake was fantastic! Highly recommend! Helen’s restaurant was yummy!

We had a wonderful stay at the Leonard Lake House. It is really beautiful, comfortable and clean. The view of the lake is superb and we loved hearing the loons. The house is in a great location to visit any part of Mt Desert island. The hosts are very kind and considerate. We hope to come back another time.

This is a beautiful home, clean, and peaceful location. Home is right on the lake and even though we didn't get a chance to use the kayaks it was nice to look out at the lake and sit on the dock. Easy to get to and very close to restaurants and other shopping. Acadia National Park about 35 minute drive and well worth the drive. Host leaves recommendations for local spots and other travel brochures. Host sent instructions on a timely manner and responded quickly to any questions that we had. Highly recommend this home and would definitely return for a another stay. Thank you again for the use of your lovely home.

Gateway to Acadia

Quiet clean comfortable home in Ellsworth, a quaint town a short trip to Mount desert Island and Acadia national Park. The town is worth the trip and the lake is quiet and peaceful. If Acadia is your goal this is easy access to the island. The property is as described clean and easy to access. The host responsive and accommodating. Would happily stay again if on another trip to Acadia

Best Hosts Ever

I don't write a review like this lightly, but the hosts of this property are a 5/5! Instead of running a business and just taking your money, they hosted like my Southern mother invited someone over. The view was beautiful and check-in was simple. The beds, sofa and seating were comfortable (a rare find these day). The kitchen was beautiful and well-equipped so you could explore the area without spending a ton on needed items that wouldn't fit in our suitcase. They had Rubbermaid containers, water bottles, ice packs and lunch coolers available for our hikes in Acadia. This was so appreciated! They even said "no honey, you don't have to take out the trash when you leave. We have people for that." (maybe not exactly that wording, but that's how I interpreted it). I would highly recommend this property and will stay here again next time we're in Maine.

Perfect place for a quiet time!

My family and I wanted to experience Acadia National Park but without all the people closer to Bar Harbor. This home was a perfect choice. They had a welcome book that gave so many GREAT suggestions which ended up being fabulous additions to our already set plans. The home had everything you may need on a short trip. We cooked at home a few times and didn’t struggle due to not having the right cookware. The bathrooms were stocked (maybe an extra towel or two would be nice to have. We just washed our towels) and the rooms were cozy and cool enough to sleep comfortably. Having the lake right by the house was a bonus as well. You can never go wrong by living next to the water. Fishing and kayaking was enjoyed the first night. The people that we met within Ellsworth were all super kind and helpful and always steered us in the right directions. The home, the area, and the host’s welcome book is spot on!

As pictured except a new path to the dock. Unfortunately the new railing is too narrow to easily carry the kayaks to the water. Otherwise everything was good. The beds were comfortable and the lake was great. Just a couple minutes from everything in ellsworth. Very little traffic down tge street. Would go again

I am a high school teacher in the KC area and my wife is a Pharmacist working in an outpatient hospital pharmacy. We have traveled the coast of Maine for years and love our second home - Ellsworth, ME. Though we don't live in the area full time, we have been apart of the Downeast community for 20+ years. We have owned several properties here and love to share all the wonders of Maine with our friends and family. It truly is a special place. We love Ellsworth, and think our little town is a fantastic place to live, work, and visit. We are pretty meticulous about the upkeep of our homes, and we work very hard to ensure our guests feel comfortable while staying here. We believe our guest they will find our lakeside homes to be a peaceful place to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring all the area has to offer.

Leonard Lake is a hidden gem, right in the heart of Ellsworth. This lake is so quiet and peaceful, you rarely see anyone on the water. As one of the only waterfront homes on the lake, we feel like its our own private place to fish, kayak or swim.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

This cozy home was originally built in 1964. We bought the home from the original owners and did a complete gut and remodel down to the studs. Every inch of the home is new, and we have put in many personal touches that define Maine's quality of life and immense beauty. Additionally, the home is so close to the water, you feel like you can almost touch it from the any of the windows. The firepit and patio area are perfect for gathering with family and enjoying the beautiful sunsets over the water.
