We are sorry the renter did not enjoy his experience in our home. We are surprised at his comment that the house is not well maintained and perhaps a rental for too long; we use it year round and rent for only a limited portion of the summer season, and only for the past five summers. The interior was completely repainted and refurnished 4 ½ years ago, and the exterior extensively reshingled this past year. As for the property, it has natural landscaping which is consistent with the surrounding bayfront environment and most of the homes in the area. Perhaps the style of these were not to the guest’s liking, but we believe the photos on our listing accurately represent what to expect. With regard to the misunderstanding about linens, it is true we do not explicitly state in our listing that we don’t provide linens given it is common practice in Wellfleet not to do so and this misunderstanding has never happened with any previous guests. We will update our listing to avoid this unfortunate misunderstanding in future. However, we would like to point out that when the guests contacted us, we apologized for the misunderstanding and immediately provided them with the information on how to rent linens nearby and also offered to reimburse them for the cost. We also offered to provide a full refund for the week if they preferred not to stay, given they seemed very upset. We are not sure what beyond this we could have done to redress the situation and regret our efforts were not sufficient to ensure them a positive experience.
