Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Lloyd-Howe House aka “Anchors Aweigh” is a beautiful and spacious 8BR/6.5BA home and the perfect getaway for golf groups, family gatherings, retreats, wedding parties and those simply seeking R&R. Generous common areas with upgraded furnishings include large living and dining rooms with exposed beams, a dedicated pool room and an updated, fully furnished kitchen with all amenities. An outdoor swimming pool (70,000 gallons!) and heated spa with large stone patios enhance the fully fenced and gated private grounds.

The estate is located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to the center of Pinehurst Village center by car or walking path (1.5 mi). Spend fun-filled days playing golf, exploring local shops, eateries, breweries and galleries or simply relax by the pool. A perfect home for a delightful Pinehurst Vacation.

This house was a great place for my family to gather together in Pinehurst! The space was accommodating whether you wanted some time alone or for everyone to be together at once, and we really enjoyed the back patio!

It’s hard to describe this home properly as it’s unique and special. It’s like walking into a big warm hug. The owner is incredibly responsive. The house is stocked with everything you could possible need and then some with tons of upscale amenities. The A/C was excellent as was the hot tub! Even with seven ladies in the home, we had plenty of space to get a quiet moment alone. If you appreciate history and a well-appointed home, this is your place.

The place was perfect for 8 senior men for a golf trip. All 8 of us loved the place. Nicely furnished, clean and well supplied. Indoor and outdoor spaces were great for relaxing as a group after golf.

Property is great inside and out. Lots of history. Alot more kitchen storage space than expected and the butlers pantry was used alot. Nicely appointed.

Perfect for a guys golf trip. While the place could use some TLC, it is spread out to allow some privacy with common areas inside and out for hanging out together.

Perfect home for golf trip

It is not a house, but a compound! Great house for a golf group. Bring your walking shoes because the house goes on forever! PM was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Pool, hot pub, and billiards were an extra bonus. Would book again!

Wonderful place for a golf outing with 8 guys in the Pinehurst area

We were looking for the perfect place for 8 guys to stay for our annual golf trip and this place was it. Everyone had their own bedroom, there were 4 large common rooms where we could hang out in the evenings, one with a pool table, two with large screen TVs. The hot tub was a wonderful feature after playing 36 holes of golf on consecutive days. Highly recommend the Pinehurst Track Restaurant for breakfast - it’s open early and just 5 minutes away!!!

This was a great house, convenient yet quiet location, historic feel but modern amenities, goes on forever twists and turns which adds to the privacy for each even with a large group. Kitchen well equipped although could use some more steak knives (although we might not have found them perhaps). Classy comfortable.

Fantastic!

This property is absolutely amazing, very private and peaceful. The house is beautiful and well appointed; beds are comfortable; bathrooms are clean; pool table is fun. Pool and jacuzzi are huge and very nice, even pool toys in the basement. Do expect some small spiders as this is an old home but nothing to worry about.

Perfect Home

Perfect home for our family. Well equipped with anything you might need. The house is spread out. Kids could be sleeping at one end of the house and not hear us at the other end playing cards. Wonderful outdoor/ backyard area with a large pool.

Private Pine Tree Historic House

Great group house. 6 of us stayed and enjoyed our time there. House is old but in good shape. All conveniences are there. Beds are comfortable. Backyard is fantastic with giant pool and hot tub. Very private, surrounded by very tall old pine trees. Slate in backyard gets hot in the sun, wear flip flops. Entry into hot tub is a little tricky. Couple of little hiccups while we there but David responded and fixed them right away.

July 2023 Stay

13 members (7 adults, 6 children) of our family came for a family reunion and had an amazing time! As Michiganderins we loved the wildlife like the deer in the front yard, and deal with snakes (nonpoisionous) but actually met a Copperhead snake near the hot tub which provided us with an educational experience and memory to share. Loved the historical feel and tons of space for our family. Very inviting, comfortable, and spacious. Highly recommend this lovely home.

Family Reunion

We gathered to celebrate my father’s 100th birthday in the Pinehurst area! My father has lived here and been a member of the Pinehurst Club since 1980. It was an amazing weekend of time spent together, as my immediate family had not been able to unite, completely, in 5 years! The house was perfect for my family! Plenty of space, very nice accommodations, beautiful pool and surroundings! A very lovely estate. I will definitely rent it again in the future!

Perfect house for a golf trip

This historic home has been maintained and updated to provide everything that you need for a vacation getaway. The home is very spacious and provides privacy and quiet areas as well as multiple common areas for group interaction. Everything was extremely clean and well stocked with basic items that you need. The pool and hot tub are the amenities that made this house perfect for our golf trip. They both were clean and well maintained and larger than any property we have previously rented. It’s a great place to relax after a long day of golf. The location is close to many great restaurants and golf courses, some of them within walking distance. The host was very responsive to our questions and quickly resolved a minor issue. We highly recommend this property and plan to stay here again on our next trip.
