This sprawling hillside hideout is tucked away on six private acres with a rich history dating back to the original construction when it was featured for the August 1928 edition of House Beautiful. The home was designed by Ilonka Karasz, iconic artist of 200 New Yorker covers and co-founder of MOMA. The original homesite has been expanded to provide more space for guests to enjoy this natural sanctuary.

Exactly what we were looking for

Property was exactly what we were looking for with a group as large as ours (14 people). Plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Great kitchen as well (cooked all of our meals in the house for the whole group).

Great villa for big groups

The house is really big, we enjoyed the billiards room, the barbecue, and fire-pit. Be aware that since it is near the woods, there will be some bugs around but it is not that much of a problem. Everything was decent and I enjoyed having 15 people there.

We'll be back

Truly a gem of a place! We loved it. Great spot to celebrate my 30th birthday with a low-key, mellow group. My chef friend who cooked the entire weekend was thrilled at the industrial-style kitchen. The house is probably unlike anything you've ever seen. We're still talking about it haha. A lovely spot.

Check in was easy. Pet friendly. Very spacious. Very clean 👌 👏. Pool was great. I was so happy the air conditioner was working great because it was 95 degrees. The property was near to shopping areas. I will stay again..

Communication:Travis was very responsive and helpful with any communications, from beginning to end.Amenities:The pictures don’t really illustrate well enough the features of this house. The game room is excellent, with a beautiful pool table, a poker table with chips, a nice foosball table and a nice TV. There is a small volleyball court outside, cornhole boards, and other small touches. The main deck is HUGE (about 30ftx30ft). The great room is beautiful, and open layout from great room to dining to bar to kitchen is excellent for large groups. The upstairs gathering room was big enough to play cornhole indoors during bad weather. There is a very nice smart projector in the room also. The only problem with the layout is the number of bathrooms.Kitchen:The kitchen is vast, and the cooking units and refrigerator are awesome. If you are into cooking, you will love the kitchen, but might bring your own large skillets (they just weren't big enough for large groups) and baking pans.Cleanliness and condition:This was the only real problem with the house. The maintenance crew really is not getting it done here. We had to clean several of the A/C filters just to get them running properly. One of the units did cool at all. The remote for the projector had nonfunctional buttons, so we could not use it. The door to the off-kitchen bathroom is a pocket door, and almost impossible to slide. The carpets could use a deep cleaning. We were a golf trip group, so these things were not

An option for a large group

This house was large as advertised and has a very nice communal kitchen/dining area/living room for everyone to spend time together. The host was also responsive throughout, though our concerns weren’t quick fixes so we didn’t flag. We had a few cleanliness issues, namely tied to leftover food items in the fridge along with the pool which hadn’t been properly cleaned (kids used it, but nobody was too keen to go in). We also weren’t confident the fridge was working as it should and had to throw out warm food (though freezer was all good). While there are some individual AC units, they were not in every room (which was called out in the listing). It was extremely hot and people couldn’t sleep so we purchased our own fans. This also made it so we were unable to use one of the loft common areas as it was sweltering during the day. Overall, this group has done a similar trip for 15 years and we often repeat locations, but this is one we wouldn’t return to without updates.

Absolutely amazing for what we needed

We had a meditation retreat at this home. The home is large- and is a charming house that seemed to go on forever. Two huge communal rooms- both we large enough for both yoga and meditation. The community is quiet and off the beaten path which it a very special location - this is the second time we rented this place from Travis. He was always in communication and was a great host. Very accommodating and responsive to any our needs.i highly recommend this home. Thank you again.
