Family can Relax & Enjoy the Peace of our Hidden Gem on All Sports Jehnsen Lake

Everyone has a favorite place, whether it be a building, a place outside, or even just being with friends. These places all hold something special to the people that inhabit them, they are places for fun, for relaxation, for just hanging out, and sometimes, even for work. It’s a place where memories are made, friendships are strengthened, and relationships are formed. Nothing but good seems to come from them. Sure there are places we all like to be, but this is beyond that. This is a favorite place, a place like no other, and mine just so happens to be on Jehnsen Lake in Rodney Michigan.

Here the fishing is wonderful, the water is warm, the sunshine is great, and the sunrises and sunsets are only some of the best part of each day. I purchased this property so I could be close to family when I retire. I wanted to be part of the community and enjoy all the Lake has to offer. For seven years I have been coming to Jehnsen Lake to stay with my sister and her family for a week in August. I fell in love with it here and decided to enjoy the lake more so I purchased the house next to my sister and her husbands. As I am not ready to retire I want to share the house with other families.

The house has specular views of the lake, sunrises, and sunsets. We have a 4 person Peddle Boat and a 15 ft Canoe. There is a dock to tie up your boat, Jet Ski, or any other water craft you may bring. The DNR dock is just a block from the house with easy access. We also have extra parking for your trailer down the street at our pole barn.

We’ve been doing annual family trips for years, and this is the first time we’ve chosen to return to the same place. Tom and Julie’s home on Jehnsen Lake is just that good.The lake is quiet and peaceful, with very few houses around, which makes for great views and a relaxing atmosphere. The house itself is extremely well stocked—anything you might need is already there, which makes packing and planning a lot easier.My teenage nephews especially love it here. Between the pinball machine, video games, outdoor space, and great fishing, they’re never bored. This year they caught over 100 fish in one weekend, including some big bass and even a couple pike.This place has become a highlight of our summer, and I give it my highest recommendation.

It was a true pleasure to stay in this home. It was stocked full of everything you may need. It had plenty of outdoor toys for children and easy access to the lake. The host was easy to communicate with and provided a very easy check in process. Definitely would stay here again!

Amazing lake house

Lakehouse was absolutely perfect. Had everything we needed and so much more. Entire house was very well organized and clean. Kids loved the game room bunk room and of course the fishing and Paddle boats and kayaks. Definitely would stay here again its perfect,

Beautiful peaceful lake house with great amenities

We love Jehnsen Lake and this lake house was absolutely amazing! First off, the house is spacious and beautiful and super clean & fully stocked. We loved the coffee bar, hammock on the deck, 4 person paddle boat and having s'mores by the fire! Such a calming relaxing atmosphere. Our hosts were amazing and answered all our questions and super quick to respond. Thank you! We definitely recommend booking this location!

Something for everyone

We had seven of us ranging from 14 to 78 years old, and this place was perfect for all. Just a few highlights: Fishing (you can't cast without catching something), state-of-the-art pinball machine, games, extremely well stocked kitchen, lake toys available for use, kayak, beautiful fire pit with high-quality furniture, huge & clean propane grill, tons of seating area for your whole group, good-working A/C, 2 full-size fridges, and more! They must have a good water system installed because despite being on a lake in northern Michigan, you don't get that sulfur-like smell. We're hoping they continue renting so we can do the trip again next year. We've never stayed in the same place twice, but we'd really like to come back here.

A Great Get Away for a group of 6 aged 8 - 80

Very clean and well cared for. Better stocked than our home :) Great water toys for the lake and plenty of indoor games and sports equipment should you have bad weather. Two huge TVs and 2 large refrigerators multiple living areas. The deck could easily seat 10 or more.

Amazing weekend!

We had an amazing time at Tom and Julie’s cottage on Jehnsen Lake! As hosts, they were incredible — kind, responsive, and very helpful. The house itself was perfect — beautiful and comfortable enough for two families (9ppl total), with everything you could possibly need to have a great time rain (arcade games, board games, ping pong, etc.) or shine (kayak, paddle boat, floating mat, etc.). The lake was perfect for young kids — shallow off the dock, Sandy bottom, water water, and plenty of fish to be caught! Highly recommend and would love to visit again!

LOVED THIS HOME!

Recently stayed at Doc Away for 3 nights with my 5 friends- all I can say is WOW. The real thing is even better than the pictures. I have rented MANY houses and always bring certain supplies- this was one of the most well-appointed homes. We didn’t have to use a thing that we brought! If this is how they run their homes all the time, I can see why they get such high reviews at their other property. Also need to mention the home was CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Had lovely personal touches such as a gift basket with S’mores supplies and a personalized note that was so sweet. Julie was prompt to answer any questions we had and we had the best time in their beautiful home. We floated in the lake, went to Chippewa for dinner one night, laughed and made memories. I just cannot say enough about this home and my friends and I are already talking about returning. Thanks to Greg, Tom, and Julie for opening your lovely home to us.

Great stay!

We had a great time at this property. There were so many activities for everyone. Adults, teenagers, and kids spent all day enjoying the lake and all of the fun games inside. Lake is beautiful and very quite for an all sports lake. Great fishing too. Would definitely stay again. The hosts were instantly responsive to any questions and left us an awesome goofy bag with some wine and smores supplies.

Docs away

Our family had a wonderful time at Docs Away filled with very special memories. The home was beautiful, immaculate and filled with amenities inside and out. The kitchen and bathrooms were very well stocked. There were several outdoor items to keep everyone busy as well. We would highly recommend staying at Docs Away. We're definitely considering booking for another stay!

Property & Manager are both awesome!

This was our family vacation. We had 6 adults, a 2.5 yr old and two infants. The property is amazing. They have thought about and provided just about everything you would ever need. They even supplied firewood for the fire ring. Property manager was very responsive and awesome to deal with. Cannot recommend enough. You will love it!

My sister and brother in law own the house next door and I have come to visit for many years with my daughter. We love it here, the fishing is great and we love spending time with our family. I purchased the house next door to them so that when I retire I can be close and as our family grows we have ample room for all of us.

The beauty of Jehnsen Lake. The peacefulness and the fun that can be had fishing, skiing, swimming, Kayaking, and just being together. This property has a wonder deck with a spectacular view of the lake. It has an open floor plan and plenty of room for the entire family.
