Split Rock ~ Our newest off-grid cabin w/ stained glass art!

Tucked up up and away on our hillside hollar here in the heart of the gorge, Split Rock is our newest off-grid cabin.  Cozy, charming and in a VERY cool location up near the cliffline, we are so happy to offer you a chance to stay here in this peaceful retreat space.

To reach Split Rock, you will need to drive up a bumpy and steep gravel road, so AWD or 4WD vehicles are highly recommended.  If you would like to park at our main office and walk up you are more than welcome to ~ the hike would be about 0.75 uphill miles.

From the private parking space for Split Rock, you'll ascend one flight of exterior stairs to reach the front porch and cabin.  Inside tall windows and a functional woodstove make the sitting area extra-cozy and bright.  There is a small and simple kitchen cooking area and table tucked underneath the sleeping loft.  If you ascend further to the sleeping loft, you'll be greeted by custom crafted stained glass art and a space so great and comfortable you'll simply have to take an extra afternoon nap!

- 6 miles to Miguel's Pizza and Natural Bridge State Park

*IMPORTANT*  This cabin has battery operated lanterns and natural lighting.  This shelter does not have regular electricity, but will have lanterns for your use.  Split Rock's kitchen will be equipped 2 5-gallon jugs of potable water at the kitchen sink.  There is no regular running water in the cabin or outhouse.  There is no hot tub for use at this cabin.

*IMPORTANT*  This cabin has a propane wall heater to keep it nice and toasty in cooler weather!

*IMPORTANT*  There is no flush toilet or shower located at Split Rock.  There is a composting outhouse located approximately 35' from the cabin's front door and if you would like to use our guest bathroom down at our main office, you are welcome to come anytime, 24/7 for a hot shower or use of a standard flush toilet.

*IMPORTANT* The futon has a special mattress that a divide down the middle- so it's in 2 sections.  It is most comfortable to sleep on one of the sides (so we recommend one adult or two children could sleep on it comfortably).

Split Rock is an off-grid cabin experience unlike any other.  While you’ll be saying good-bye to our many modern conveniences, you’ll get to say “HELLO!” to peace, tranquility, stillness and a fantastic escape to the woods.  We hope you’ll enjoy our low-tech approach to a high-quality experience during your stay!

Kitchen:  The tidy and compact kitchen includes a propane camping stove and french press coffee pot.  Cookware, dishware, soap and kitchen linens will be provided during your stay.

Living/Dining:  A small kitchen table with chairs and a cozy futon couch by the fireplace make this bright and pleasant room a joy to be in while you enjoy the stellar view from up high on the cliff line.

Bathroom:  There is a composting outhouse at Split Rock.  For use of a regular bathroom sink, flush toilet and shower, you are always welcome to use the guest bathroom (with hot water!) located at our Red River Gorgeous Main Office at any time during your stay.

Bedroom Loft:  A queen size bed is located in a sweet and serene upper loft.

Additional Amenities:  Weber charcoal grill, indoor propane wall heater, wood-burning stove, board games and a private fire pit.

We are happy to host pets at Split Rock and ask for an additional $50 (plus tax) non-refundable pet cleaning fee for the first pet.  Any additional pets are $25 (plus tax).

Linens are always provided for this cabin.  We will provide pillows, blankets, and bedsheets.  We will also provide kitchen towels, toilet paper, hand and dish soap.

Firewood is also available upon request.  For $25 we will deliver firewood to your fire pit.  Please be sure to mark on your reservation if you would like firewood delivery.  Please be sure to put out all fires COMPLETELY when you are finished.
