Christmas in the Smokies

We had a great time staying on property. Chalet was never close by everything in downtown Gatlinburg. The roads to the chalet are very narrow since the chalet is located closer to the top of the mountain. For larger vehicles I would recommend staying further down the mountain. We had a difficult time in a Jeep compass turning into the driveway. The only issues that arised and was very disappointed with was the master bathroom. The water pressure was horrible and the jacuzzi bathtub didn't work. Unfortunately there wasn't enough hot water to even fill up the bathtub halfway. The second bathroom had much better water pressure and no issues with the hot water. Besides the master bathroom the property over all was fantastic. Great views and a nice indoor fireplace. The neighborhood was never quiet and so peaceful at night watching the stars.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A lovely spot, enjoyed the deck very much. The home is dated and musty but for a short stay it was bearable. The cost is ridiculously hight and the rental company but at all responsive to issues we had with plumbing. Other family members rented the home next door through a much better company who were very responsive to issues and even brought a good/wine gift.

As soon as we arrived a bear greeted us which was pretty awesome. Getting to the cabin was very confusing as many streets do not have street signs. I enjoyed that it was located in a dead end, so there was more privacy. I do wish they would replace the once existing gate to the deck. Mountain Laurel Chalets never disappoint.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was a little disappointed to see how small the living space was, as the pictures online make it look very large. The sofa and loveseat are pretty broken in and worn down. The DVD player door was broken with no batteries for the remote. The master bath is very old and really needs updated. We all ended up using the other bathroom. Both shower areas are very tight making it difficult to move around. There were several soft spots in the wood flooring that we were afraid to step on. The welcome packet dates back to 2012 and is in pretty bad shape. It would have been nice if it was updated with current information. The outside could use a little updates and cleaning. It has a very nice kitchen and dining area with a lot of utensils. The villa is secluded with a nice front deck. It was very quiet which made it a good relaxing experience. It was an easy check in and check out experience with very nice office staff.

Wonderful cabin!

Perfect for my family. The cabin felt like home from the beginning. It had a private feel without being too secluded which made us feel safe. Great location too, close to town and entrance to GSM park. We also very easily made our way north to pigeon Forge without having to drive down the main drag through town. Wonderful view from front deck and hot tub. We loved the visits from the bears too.

This Could Be A Perfect Cabin With Some Much Needed TLC

Wanted so badly to love this cabin. The pictures of this rental were absolutely stunning, and the view looked amazing. Didn't see too many poor reviews, until after we had passed the refund period. Dirty, SO dirty. So many spiderwebs in corners, above the fireplace, hanging from the ceiling. Killed a few spiders, one of which ran across the dining table. Also killed a cockroach running through the dining room. The problem is, the weather stripping on the entry doors (deck side) has a huge gap in it, so anything can crawl right in. Dust on top of the doorways, trim, in the bathroom fan. In the kitchen, a small wooden cookbook holder appeared to have been eaten through by termites or some other type of wood burrowing insect and piles of saw dust were on the kitchen shelf....clearly it hadn't been cleaned before our visit. The tub in the old bathroom is cracked. The new bathroom needs major cleaning. Mildew around the shower on the tile grout, the trim is filthy and never got painted after they put it up. In the master bedroom, they put up new curtains & curtain rods, but the old bracket is STILL on the wall above the one window. The ceiling light in the new bathroom is burnt out, also the microwave light (surface light) is burnt out. As others mentioned, the floor is unstable between the fireplace and the kitchen island...the whole thing moves! So many things going on in this rental. It desperately needs a deep, DEEP clean, and major maintenance. Also the new young trees that are growing on the property need trimming. The view of downtown Gatlinburg is now completely blocked. The good news is, we did have a couple bears on the property, that was a nice surprise. And the size of the kitchen is great!! Overall, really disappointed in our stay, for the fact that I spent hard earned money on this cabin, and it wasn't cheap. I really hope this property can receive some TLC before the next guest. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This chalet could use a little TLC. Wooden floor is buckling in places causing my kids to trip multiple times. Also, a good cleaning. Baseboards haven’t been cleaned in some time and floors were dusty and dirty. Master bathroom had molding separating from sink, jacuzzi tub is very old and buckling in the middle. Now for the bears - lots of them! We had a mom and three Cubs surround d our car when we were trying to exit the driveway. I LOVE wildlife, but the frequent visits by them was a little much. We came home one night to a chunk taken out of the hot tub cover by a bear!

Bella Vista: maintenance needed and frequent bear interaction

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The chalet was overall clean but in need of several repairs. The master bedroom was in need of carpet cleaning with a few stains. The hot water heater has a leak with water overflowing into the drain pan. Noticed buckling of flooring in between the kitchen and great room. The master bath needs a total remodel. Jacuzzi tub appeared to be from decades ago. There were three small holes in the sheetrock in the master bedroom and a watermark on the ceiling over the bed from a leak in the roof. Most of the outdoor railings had mold on them and needed a good pressure washing. Lights missing in the master bedroom, stove and under the microwave. All issues were reported but not addressed during our stay. The gate to the balcony had been removed at the top of the stairs which proved to be an issue, as we were visited by three bear during our stay. We had no warning. One approached while we were eating breakfast on the balcony and overtook our food. My husband made it indoors safely. I however, was stranded on the end of the balcony by the hot tub with no way to get to safety until the bear began eating our food and was distracted. This allowed me to pass by the table and into the chalet.
