Originally home to the San Antonio Light newspaper in the 1920s, the building has been thoughtfully reimagined to honor its heritage while delivering a contemporary living experience. Each residence features a full kitchen with modern appliances, in-suite laundry, and a Roku enabled smart TV for seamless streaming. Settle in, unwind, and enjoy the flexibility of a space designed for both short and extended stays.

The property offers unique on-site experiences. 505 Rooftop Bar sits above the building, offering a vibrant atmosphere with skyline views and regular weekend events. Vela Cafe on the first floor provides a convenient spot for coffee, a small bite to eat, or a relaxed midday break.

- The Space -

Designed with both comfort and style in mind, the two-bedroom units at La Luz provide a refined retreat in the heart of downtown. Located on the second and third floors of the building, these units are easily accessible by elevator or either of the two stairwells. Each unit is single-level, with no interior steps.

All feature two queen beds, one in each bedroom, and comfortably accommodate up to four adults. The open-concept kitchen and living area creates an inviting space to relax, recharge, or plan your next outing.

For added convenience, there are two full bathrooms. The primary bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, while the second bathroom, located off the living area, has a shower and tub combination. The layout is well-suited for couples, friends, or small groups traveling together.

Each space is thoughtfully designed with its own unique layout and artistic character. Images shown are representative of the unit type and bedroom/bathroom count but may not be for the specific unit assigned. While floorplans vary, all maintain a consistent aesthetic and overall size. Incredibly loud if in a street-facing unit

The good: Unit was clean, check in was easy, location was great - very short walk to the Alamo and Riverwalk. Above a nice coffee shop.The bad: This probably only applies to 1 in 4 of the units that are above ground, and probably none of the below-ground units other reviewers have commented on. However, we were in a street-facing unit with one wall of windows. The unit was so unbearably loud at night that we only stayed 2 of our 3 nights. I have never checked out early from a vacation before. Ever. However, there is a nightclub *very* nearby (I know the closing playlist from 1:50-2:00 am), and cars w/o mufflers drag race down the city streets at night, and the sound echoes through the concrete canyons of the skyscrapers. It was impossible to sleep with all the noise. We intentionally looked for a VRBO off of Riverwalk because hotel reviewers complained about noise wafting up from revelers on the Riverwalk below. This unit was not the answer. However, if you are in one of the interior apts in the same facility, w/ fewer windows, the street-facing unit would likely absorb most of the noise. Same if you are below ground. So you have a decent chance of not being impacted by the noise if you stay here, but you can't pick the unit during booking, so you don't know which one you'll get. The owners were very generous and refunded 2 of our 3 nights, which I appreciated very much. I am reluctant to leave a negative review because they were so generous
