Beware. Unclean. Unsafe.
I have never in my 10yrs of using VRBO had to leave a poor review, but unfortunately this will be my 1st. Our group of 6 guests & 2 K9s arrived to the home during Hurricane Helene seeking shelter after a long 12hr drive in hazardous conditions. Entering the home there was an overwhelming aroma of marijuana, & the home itself appeared to be haphazardly cleaned. Muddy walls, hair in bathrooms, crooked picture frames, non-functioning lights...For the sake of a lengthy review, I will state it was as though the previous occupant(s) had just finished a party leaving very little time to clean or to clean at all. We found the door to the backyard to be unlocked, & upon further inspection found that the deadbolt was broken. We took the K9s outback to relieve themselves only to find loads trash strewn about the entire yard & the fence to be broken. The trash included kitchen utensils, broken pots, coins, & wrappers. The fire pit was also busted.At this point we did not feel safe, nor did we feel our K9s were safe staying here. Safety aside, we agreed as group the property was too filthy to stay in despite our fatigue & the late hour. I immediately notified the host of the property's condition that PM, & I only received a response the following AM after messaging again. He requested pictures to which I provided, & I now have not heard back for 3 days. Customer support has been slow to escalate a case. We are now out VRBO costs as well as hotel costs, & I expect c0mpensation & a r3fund.
