A very frustrating experience after a long drive
We did not stay at the property. We found the property despite there being no address on the house, curb or any place on the property. The only reason we felt we were at the right house was that we found a lockbox on the front porch. When I couldn't get the lock box open, I called the contact number given and spoke to an answering service. I was told to go to the side of the house to the rear gate where the "real" lock box was. I did that and found it empty. Calling the number back and speaking to another person, I believe, at the answering service I was told they would get right back with me. I might add all this was occurring in the rain and while a large number of pickup trucks with loud music and mufflers drove by. I decided to make other reservations and luckily found some accommodations on such a short notice. As I was finalizing these other reservations, which was about an hour since this experience began, there was a knock on the passenger side window of the car. A women had some keys in her hand for the house. I told her we were not staying at the property and had made other arrangements. We left shortly after that to go to our new lodging. We never did see the inside of the house but rented it because of the online pictures we had seen.
I have only used VRBO a few times and have had wonderful experiences every time. we've always been able to speak with the owner if there were any issue.
