If you’re looking to experience the tiny home lifestyle this is it! Rest and relax on the coziest house boat overlooking a calm river surrounded by views and birds. This ain’t just a place to sleep it’s an experience. Permanently docked at our small family owned marina. Wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee on its own deck or jump on a paddle board and take a trip down the calm waters of the river that open up to the Long Island Sound. End the day sitting by your own fire pit while you grill the days catch. Hidden in the sweetest coastal small town of Old Lyme! Right across the river is Rocky Neck State Park with miles of ocean front hiking trails and large state beach and pavilion.

This was one of the best overnight getaways we have ever done. Very unique and so peaceful. I feel as if this is something you could do any time of year and have a fabulous time no matter the occasion! The owners were very on top of everything from the moment we arrived. Also the location was close enough to get what you need but far enough away from all the noise.. so you really felt like you were on a peaceful island somewhere far from home!

It was amazing! The calm, clean and friendly atmosphere feels like home. The hosts were beyond amazing, always attentive and just great folks to talk to. The location was perfect as everything is a few minutes each way. The best stay, we’ve had anywhere yet!

The absolute coolest, most interesting and exciting place we’ve stayed. We can’t wait to stay again! Surrounding towns were worth exploring but we couldn’t wait to get back to the Houseboat. Hosts were so friendly and helpful. Hope to go back soon.

Simple, serene, absolutely wonderful. The house boat is absolutely what you sign up for and more and then the touches that the host does - the snacks, the chalkboard and THE FISH-LIGHT! She goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and happy - she makes she you get all your time while making you feel completely supported. 10/10. We will be back.

Amazing place

The place was amazing The host was absolutely accommodating couldn't have asked for a better stay. It was stocked with everything we needed plus extras little snacks and things. I told her that I was bringing my girlfriend down for her 40th birthday and really wanted to make it special for her. Danielle went out of her way and printed pictures of us and had them in frames throughout the boathouse. She also wrote a nice note saying Happy 40th birthday on the chalkboard and had a little happy birthday decoration along with getting her a little cupcake cake thing. She was absolutely surprised and loved every bit of it so I just want to thank Danielle and her husband and I would recommend this to anyone and everyone thank you very much.

The perfect glamping getaway

When I say I loved this place, I mean that I asked my husband if we could buy something similar someday. It's so quaint, thoughtfully decorated and appointed. The husband and wife duo who own the rental and the marina it sits in are helpful, accessible, and welcoming. We will 100% be coming back!

The communication by the host was absolutely amazing! As soon as we arrived on the property we were greeted & truly felt like a guest at my family’s home. It was the perfect getaway. I love the fish light, & fire pit was my favorite part. There was nothing that we did not like about our stay it was a perfect date night that truly felt like home away from home.

My New Happy Place

This little houseboat is as magical as everyone says it is. The energy is calming and the sounds of nature and a far off train make it the perfect spot for reflection, healing, and absolute joy. As someone with a lot of stomach issues, I was a little worried about the bathroom situation,(#2 is done in the fancy bathroom not on the boat) but it was a very short few steps away from the dock and no problem at all. Danielle and Mike are amazing, sweet, kind and very quick to respond. I already miss my time here and cannot wait to return, thank you for sharing this piece of your paradise with us.

Peaceful getaway in the heart of a natural preserve

An absolute peaceful and relaxing gem tucked into an inlet off the ocean that is home to all kinds of birds, fish and sea life. During the day we kayaked to the private beach where we sunbathed and caught hermit crabs, visited Mystic Aquarium, and explored local ocean towns and shops. In the evening we dined at the wonderful local little restaurants, ate smores by the fire and fished off the back of the house boat. The boat was super cozy, very comfortable and was stocked with everything we needed! This was a fantastic opportunity to put out busy lives on hold and reconnect as a family!

Fun experience

Houseboat was amazing! Very cozy and yet well appointed with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Sitting on the dock with a drink in hand watching the birds and boats was so relaxing!!! Kayaking to a private beach was so fun!

Anniversary

We wanted a quick night away to celebrate our wedding anniversary but wanted a unique experience. We found it here at the River Rat Resort. The house boat was charming, clean & had everything we needed. Hosts were amazing! They were responsive, offering help. They knew of our celebration and made sure to acknowledge with a cupcake left for us in the refrigerator 💕. Will definitely be back for a longer stay. This was perfect!
