Bocca d'Oro está situada en las faldas del Monte Argentario, un promontorio de montaña con largas playas de arena y una costa rocosa en el sur de la Toscana. La mayoría de los años se puede nadar hasta finales de octubre.
Florencia, Pisa, Siena y Roma están a poca distancia de una excursión de un día.
La casa en sí misma tiene hermosas vistas al mar y la montaña y, con 10 acres de terreno, es un lugar completamente privado y, sin embargo, a solo cinco minutos del mar y del pueblo virgen de Porto Ercole con su bonito puerto, restaurantes, bares y cafés

Aparte de las vistas, quizás la característica más llamativa es la terraza, plantada con granados, olivos, pinos y tilos. Aquí puedes comer fuera bajo una pérgola o en otro lugar mirando al mar. Por las noches, las luces exteriores hacen que la terraza parezca una parte de la casa.
Cerca de los eucaliptos encontrará una mesa de ping-pong y un trampolín para niños. Y en otra parte, una cancha de bádminton cerca de la piscina aislada para nadar después del juego.
Y a solo cinco minutos se encuentra una de las playas de arena más hermosas de la costa toscana. Extendiéndose desde el Argentario en una media luna 6 kilometros al continente, que tiene todas las instalaciones de la playa, como bares, restaurantes, wind-surf, agua y jet ski. Detrás de la playa es un magnífico bosque de pinos con ciervos y otros animales salvajes. Se pueden alquilar bicicletas para pasear por el bosque y puede detenerse en varios lugares mientras se nada para nadar. Vea las fotografías.

Mosquiteras están equipadas en cada dormitorio y baño, así como en la cocina.

Un excelente cocinero italiano local está disponible para cenas si es necesario.

The villa is set in the hills above Porto Ercole and has magnificent views of the harbour and surrounding countryside. We are a family of 12 adults and 4 children and there was plenty of space for us all. The dining facilities and are excellent with an outside table located under a shady pergola and there is a large terrace to relax in of an evening. The local beach is one of the best I have ever been to and is very safe for children. The beach bars offer a selection of excellent food and good restaurants can also be found in the town.We had an amazing time and would love to return in the future.

Wunderbar geräumiges Anwesen

Wir (7 - 8 befreundete Erwachsene) hatten eine gute Zeit. Das Haus ist liebevoll und praktisch eingerichtet. Entspannung im Garten. Fein gegessen um den Runden Tisch im Freien. Schöne Ausflüge. Lourdes und Luigi haben einen guten Job gemacht. (Bei der Buchung war uns gar nicht bewusst, dass dieser Service dabei ist). Für 2 kleine Reparaturen haben sie sofort telefoniert und innert Kürze war die Sache erledigt. Den Abzug-Stern gibt es einzig, weil einer der Freunde auf den Rollstuhl angewiesen ist. Dabei ist der Eingang schwierig und der Weg zum Pool unmöglich. Der Vermieter hat uns nach dieser Rückmeldung mit einem grosszügigen Erstattungsangebot überrascht. Und dafür gibt es Zusatzsterne! Wir empfehlen die Villa Moorehead sehr gerne weiter.

Best family gathering villa

We were 12 with 4 grandchildren ranging from 2 to 6 years old and this villa had something for everyone. Some air conditioned and fan bedrooms, lots of bathrooms, a large living room, great outdoor space and amazing views. There is a lovely terrace with lawn where children play while adults rest, a pool nestled on a lower level far enough from the house so no safety issues, a trampoline, a ping pong table and badminton court! Perfectly located to enjoy beautiful beaches, charter boats for island hoping and dine in Porto Ercole (If you can find a parking spot!!) Lourdes and Luigi care for the house and gardens and are the most pleasant and helpful people I have met in a rental. A lovely cook is available, speaks English and prepares delightful Italian dishes. All In all we had the best time under the Tuscan sun!

Family vacation in beautiful Italian villa

Thank you very much for a very pleasant stay in your beautiful house, John, which met all our expectations. Very beautiful place with great views, short distance to lovely beach and charming marina in Porto Ercole. We enjoyed the very beautiful terrace and garden including swimming pool. We could easily stay 13 persons in this very spacious and well-equipped house with 5 bathrooms. Thank you, John, for your quick answers on every question we had, planning the vacation, and all your help and guidance. And thank you to the housekeeper and gardener for keeping the house, garden and pool in perfect shape during our stay.

A truly special place

A very lovely house and grounds. It is a clearly loved family home, spacious and relaxed and yet incredibly well equipped especially the kitchen which was important for us with 2 chefs in our group. The whole atmosphere of Casa Moorhead is welcoming - lots of comfy chairs everywhere enabling everyone to either join together on the beautiful main terrace with stunning views of the bay, or to just mosey off and do their own thing, reading books from the very interesting library on the other terraces or wandering down to the very private, beautifully clean swimming pool. The directions were good, given that it is up a fairly narrow lane and it really is 5 minutes away from Porte Ercole with great cafes and restaurants and a lovely wide safe beautifully kept beach. We were a group of 11 friends and family ranging from 30 to 87 and we all found it a truly special place.

Wonder in the woods

The house was lovely with plenty of space for everyone to have privacy and also with good places to be together. The terrace overlooking the woods and sea was spectacular both during the day and in the evening. The kitchen was very well equipped and we enjoyed using it to cook although we also had Giovanna cook for us on a couple of nights and that was even more wonderful! She is a great cook and a lovely person. The pool lower down in the garden was also delightful and felt quite private away from the house. This property is very much a home and is full of books and has cosy sofas and chairs if the weather is not clement. We were travelling with friends and family and we all loved the house and gardens. we hope to return.

A spacious welcoming home, uniquely and conveniently located for a variety of holiday activities

If you are looking for a spacious house hidden away on a coastal Tuscan hillside, but with access to a variety of places in southern Tuscany, Casa Moorehead offers a wonderful location. The house is spacious, but it is more than a house, it is a home, and we immediately felt at home there. Indoors or outdoors, the house is well appointed for holiday living, and the charming terrace places you in amongst the trees, but with view of the surrounding hills and the sea. Sunrise was a particular delight. We discovered that the house had a unique literary association, which added a special curiosity and dimension to our stay. The location places you within easy car travel distance of waterfront cafes and restaurants at Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano, swimming beaches, islands off the coast, inland hilltop Tuscan villages and historic and modern attractions. And there are nearby shopping facilities for all your needs. Be prepared for a narrow road and driveway up to the house, but it is easily carefully navigated. We were a group of family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed what was an all too short 11 day stay. It was October, so pleasantly warm, not hot. John R

Wonderful family holiday

The property is rustic and has a great history. The highlights would be - spacious living area/views/pool/badminton court/table tennis/kitchen/terrace/outdoor dining area/cooks. In the heat of August it is a bit of a struggle to stay cool (no AC) but we coped nonetheless. Staff and owners are brilliantly responsive. Thanks to all!

the perfect place to enjoy life

We have been to the Villa Moorehead before and we will come back again. It is the perfect place to reunite with friends or family. The house itself is spacious and has lovely views and the terrace is simply magnificent. Nothing better than a late evening drink and long chats on the terrace when the kids are in bed: You here the crickets chirping away and see the moonlight glittering on the sea. During the day everyone can do there preferred stuff – go to the family friendly sandy beach, check out the coves of the Argentario, hire a boat, stay by the pool, explore the Tuscan sights and towns or do absolutely nothing on the terrace. It is a place where life seems easy.

Sommerzeit am Mittelmeer

Wir (14 Personen, 7 Erwachsene, 5 Kinder und 2 Babys) haben in der Villa zwei wunderbare mediterrane Wochen verbracht. Das Anwesen ist idyllisch gelegen, inmitten von Olivenhainen und Schatten spendenden Pinien. Da die Parzelle sehr gross ist, hat man auch keine direkten Nachbarn. Man hört einzig die Zikaden. Das Haus und der Garten zeugen von gutem Geschmack. Sie sind liebevoll aber zweckmässig gestaltet und eingerichtet. Die Terrasse ums Haus misst schätzungsweise 300 Quadratmeter und mehr. Zu jeder Zeit findet man sowohl genügend Schatten als auch Sonne. Die Küche ist schlicht grossartig. Es hat einen riesigen Herd, einen grossen Geschirrspüler und 2 grosse Kühlschränke. Der Küchentisch bietet genügend Platz für 10 Personen. Geschirr hat es im Überfluss. Herzlichen Dank für alles! Nik & Freunde

hyggelig og veludstyret feriebolig. Omsorgsfuld vært. Stort moskito problem

Vores familie på 15, tre generationer, har i dag forladt Casa Moorehead efter en uges ophold. Huset er dejligt og veludstyret med mange værelser og vi nød utallige timer på den overdækkede loggia og i husets svømmebassin. Poolmand og stuepiger tog sig af alt forefaldende og ejeren var i forbindelse med nogle forespørgsler meget hjælpsom. Selve huset ligger på en høj bakkeskrænt helt omgivet af vegetation. Dette skabte en veritabel myggeplage. Størst var problemet om natten, da huset generelt ikke er forsynet med myggenet, hvorfor det var nødvendigt at sove med lukkede vinduer.

Wunderschöner Urlaub

Seit mittlerweile vielen Jahren fahren wir mit einer Gruppe von Freunden im Spätsommer nach Italien - immer in eine andere Ecke. Diesmal wollten wir die südliche Toskana erkunden und haben auf der Suche nach einer passenden Unterkunft die Casa Moorehead entdeckt. Unsere Erwartungen wurden in jeder Hinsicht übertroffen: Der Blick von der Terrasse auf das Meer ist überwältigend. Das große Grundstück mit seinen zahlreichen Oliven- und Eukalyptusbäumen lädt zum Spazieren ein. Auf dem gesamten Gelände befinden sich hier und dort Bänke und Liegen, die zum Lesen, Verweilen und Sonnen einladen. Wir hatten unglaublich viel Spaß auf dem Badmintonplatz und im Pool und nichts ist so schön, wie Abendessen im Freien unter der Pergola. Innen ist das Haus sehr gemütlich, unzählige englischsprachige Bücher warten darauf entdeckt zu werden, jedes Zimmer ist individuell eingerichtet und man merkt, dass das Haus Geschichte und Seele hat und auch von der Familie zeitweise bewohnt wird. Das Haus mag hier und da schon etwas alt sein, aber das ist eben auch der Charme. Wenn man gerne und viel kocht, lässt die Küche keine Wünsche offen. Für Großeinkäufe lohnt sich die Fahrt nach Orbetello zum Markt (direkt am Wasser gelegen) oder zum COOP. Es gibt aber auch einen kleineren Supermarkt direkt in Porto Ercole, wenige Minuten vom Haus entfernt. Man kann ohne Probleme für 2 Wochen das Grundstück nicht verlassen und hat trotzdem eine wunderbare Zeit mit Blick auf das Meer und den Monte Argentario. Aber auch in der unmittelbaren und näheren Umgebung gibt es viel zu entdecken - seien es nun Tagesausflüge ins Umland oder zu den schönen Sandstränden, Buchten und Naturparks in unmittelbarer Nähe. Wir hoffen, die Casa Moorehead bald wieder besuchen zu dürfen.

Perfect place

We went again this year, so much did we enjoy it last time. Perfect for a group of friends or family: comfortable bedrooms, lovely terrace overlooking sea below, with big round table for long lunches/suppers. Well big equipped kitchen.Swimming in either the pool or the sea 15 minutes down the hill with its sun umbrellas and loungers and delightful family-run taverna. good walking, shopping in Porto Ercole port, visits to Sienna etc. We will be going again.

Perfect house for friends and families of all ages

I have spent several wonderful holidays with groups of friends in this delightful house. Everything the owner says about it is accurate in every detail. Trust him! The house is spacious, comfortable and simply and beautifully decorated and maintained - plenty of room to escape to read a book or to socialise, with an attractive, shady garden and a terrace with a magnificent view over the surrounding hills and the sea. Catering for onself is easy in the large well- equipped kitchen, and housework is efficiently taken care of by a local maid. For children and active adults there is table tennis, badminton and a charming pool (long enough to keep fit) set among flowers and trees. The house is filled with books for all ages. The surrounding area offers wonderful walks in the hills and safe swimming on local beaches with restaurants, loungers and umbrellas etc and a very appealing, friendly atmosphere. The local port, Porto Ercole, is an attractive, unspoilt fishing village with lovely cafes, restaurants, and clothes shops. Orbetello, the nearest town, has a fabulous weekly market. I wholheartedly recommend Casa Moorehead and its location for a perfect Tuscan holiday. Patricia

A comfortable seaside family house up a mountain

The house has marvellous spaces to relax in, chief amongst which is the large terrace overlooking the port. At night a spotlight makes the trees look magical. There's a delightful walk to the pool under pines and olive trees; we played badminton nearby and then jumped into the pool to cool off. We walked into Porto Ercole one day but drove to the excellent restaurant Mamma Licia at Fenigia beach on another occasion. Giovanna cooked beautifully for us several nights; Lourdes came to clean most days, and Luigi attended to the garden. All were most friendly and helpful. If, like me, you are a bookworm it is a paradise. There are books everywhere and include Alan Moorhead's books on the two Niles. Highly recommended!!!

Wonderful Location, Beautiful Home

I had a wonderful experience staying at Casa Moorehead. The house is beautiful, spacious, and full of light. It is well suited to large groups. Close to the beach, but still up in the mountain, lovely pool, and my favourite- a badminton court. It is honestly one of the most relaxing places I've been to recently. My friends and I were very comfortable and happy with our time here and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Where do Romans holiday? Beautiful Porto Ercole

Having stayed at the beautiful villa for the past two Summers, It is easy to say why I love this place. This scenic terrace from which to see the gorgeous view of Porto Ercole's marina invites you to come down to the water and enjoy a cappuccino and gelato, or dine at one of the lovely restaurants is something out of a movie. The rich history, the beautiful beaches in the area are all very close the Villa that is tucked away in the hills. This is a getaway to gather your thoughts, and to be inspired by the history of this home and to truly relax. Highly recommended. William

summer dream

What a place! The photos just don’t do it any justice. We would have loved to spend all summer there. The house is great. You don’t sit on top of each other even if you’re going in a large group; it has a homely feeling with all the books and great views from the rooms to either the sea or the mountain. But it’s all about the outdoors: there are so many paths to walk on around land belonging to the house. I can’t forget having cocktails on the terrace with the warm evening light shining on the historic forts, the hillside and the sea. We played lots of table tennis and badminton. When we could get our kids away from the pool we went to the nearby beach which is great for little ones as it’s very shallow to start with. We didn’t even make it to Siena because the area itself had so much to offer. We are planning to come back!

Perfect place for spending 1-2 weeks

We were a 15-people family group covering three generations with various interests and needs.The house and its environment with the nice swimming pool and the badminton court were very nice and the environment around Porto Ercole allowed for a variety of activities.The house is beautifully located,comfortable and the service provided excellent.In short,we loved it all!

A beautiful relaxing house.

Sep 2015. This house is absolutely perfect for large groups (or small!) with everyone able to have their own space inside and outside the house. I will never forget having drinks on the terrace every evening overlooking the ocean with our friends, followed by dinner under the vines by candle light. Such a peaceful place and a wonderful book collection! The kids had a wonderful time too exploring the garden and the pool was a delight. The (almost) daily visit from the gardener and cleaner were something we looked forward to as we enjoyed chatting to them about the history of the house and things to do in local area (and even if your Italian isn't good you would still get a sense of how lovely they are). We were a little disappointed with Porto Ercole - it didn't have the charm that we expected it to have, but this is nothing to do with the house, and we made up for it with day trips to Siena, the hot springs at Saturnia and the stunning village of Pitigliana. We loved this house and have wonderful idyllic memories of our time there. Thank you!

Wonderful holiday on the Tuscan coast

We had a lovely holiday in Porto Ercole. We were two families at the house and had plenty of room for everyone. The kids loved exploring the garden and we all enjoyed the amazing library of English books. The house is in a wonderful location with gorgeous views and easy to get to town and other parts of the island. Giovanna the local cook we hired through the owner cooked fantastic Italian meals for us most nights. A thoroughly enjoyable time!
