Certainly, this lovely place welcomes outdoor activities and warm breezes but don’t miss it in winter months. My family and I stayed here for Christmas. It was 4 households sharing this gem by the river. While the cold winds blew, we had a great time. So wonderful that there was only one planned adventure to the nearby Audubon Center for a nature walk. Otherwise, everyone was content to nestle in and enjoy hanging out together or finding a quiet space to relax. It was rare that the comfy sectional couch was empty, it was the favorite spot. There was usually something cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, including a cake stand. The pool table tested rusty pool skills in a few games and demonstrations. Even the screened in porch was welcoming with a wealth of blankets and nature sounds. The walk to the dock to watch the sunset or geese was a favorite activity. There are benches, chairs and steps to make that activity inviting. Town is ~15 minutes away with many stores, restaurants and conveniences. My favorite was the local Harris Teeter grocery since I was the lead cook in the group. The staff is helpful and the selections, including prepared foods, are wonderful. If you are a fan, don’t miss the carrot cake. Sunset Landing rules were reasonable and easy to follow. The host was wonderful to stay in touch and provide suggestions. There’s an informative guest book with instructions and recommendations. I highly recommend Sunset Landing, even in winter.
