Our group of eight had a wonderful stay at this Acadia home. It was very clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and the views were absolutely amazing. We enjoyed hiking in Acadia, and the home was a convenient distance from Bar Harbor. It was a lovely place to come back to after a day of exploring!

As short term rental hosts ourselves we can be pretty picky however this VRBO extremely exceeded our expectations. The pictures don’t do the real life experience justice. It was extremely clean, had everything we needed, easy to get around, short walk to town and fantastic for our girl group of four -3 to 6 years olds. Our family of 10 fit in so comfortably here we would most definitely come back. Ample beds and bathrooms sealed the deal and while we used the internet NO television was watched as we were too busy exploring.

The Acadia View was a spectacular house. It met all of our needs and had plenty of room to spread out and common area large enough for the whole family of 9 to gather. The doll house and games were an added bonus to entertain us. We really enjoyed the location that was secluded but also the ability to walk to town for breakfast and ice cream in the evenings. Would highly recommend this house.

This was our second visit to the Acadia View House. For this visit, we were a group of 12 (3 families of 4 - kids ranging in age from 4-12) and the house fit us perfectly. At one point the dishwasher malfunctioned, but the hosts and their caretaker worked quickly and diligently to fix the issue. This property is perfectly situated for easy access to the National park areas. Southwest Harbor is a great, quiet village and has everything you need without the crowds of Bar Harbor.

This is an excellent vacation property and provides everything needed to have an enjoyable stay. The highlights are the architectural design with high vaulted ceilings in the main living areas ,a beautiful view. a nice outdoor sitting area, and a large kitchen and dining area. The kitchen was well stocked for those who like to cook. Our only issues were minor, such as no salt and pepper shakers, no wash cloths provided in some bathrooms and the fact that we were not able to get a response concerning an earlier check-in time. These did not deter from an overall wonderful experience. We would definitely rent here again if given the opportunity on a future visit!

Spectacular stay in Southwest Harbor

Our group had a great stay at this property! It has spectacular views, great access to Acadia NP, and a quick walk into Southwest Harbor. The place itself was very spacious, and we really enjoyed the group games available. We'd love to stay here again in the future!

Amazing views, lots of stargazing spots. Close to Acadia and Bar Harbor, with easy walk into cute downtown of Southwest Harbor. Our large group had plenty of room to spread out! Highly recommend!

We truly enjoyed our stay. The views through the expansive windows were spectacular—among the best we've experienced in any vacation home we've rented. We can only imagine how beautiful the scenery must be during the fall when the leaves are changing.Our grandchildren (and their parents!) especially enjoyed the tetherball, and the entire family appreciated the selection of games, jigsaw puzzles, the foosball table, and the shuffleboard. The spacious window seats were also a favorite spot to relax and take in the views.A few updates could make an already wonderful property even better. The kitchen was not as well equipped as some other vacation homes we've stayed in, and the twin beds downstairs were not as comfortable as our grandchildren would have preferred.Jonathan and Rachel were very responsive to our questions and concerns throughout our stay. We also shared a few non-critical maintenance items with the caretaker, who assured us they would be addressed.

Great house for a larger group of family or friends

We couldn’t have picked a better house for our first trip to Maine. This house was perfect…beautiful, well-maintained, and spacious. And, the views were amazing! We loved being on the quiet side, but still close enough to enjoy everything that Maine had to offer. We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful stay

We had stayed last year with friends and at a wonderful time. It's a lovely house with owners and a property manager who were very responsive. Based on our experience last year we again stayed for almost a week with friends and again had a wonderful time. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed.

I've stayed at a lot of vrbo properties and this one may be my favorite. It really is a perfect location -- a private lot in the woods with a great harbor view AND also a short walk into the town of Southwest Harbor. Best of both worlds. It's a 30 minute scenic drive across MDI to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. The house is even better than the pictures and would work for couples as well as a fairly large family. Would love to come back at some point.

Wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this property for a week. The home was wonderful for our family of 9 with both adults and children staying. We had a warm week but there were good breezes through the house. It is close to many of the must see sites in the area. Communication with the owners was rapid and helpful. I highly recommend this home for a family stay!

I really cannot speak highly enough about our stay at Rachel and Jonathan’s place. It is an absolutely gorgeous home, in a fantastic location, and as hosts, Rachel and Jonathan are incredibly communicative, friendly, and understanding. Their place hosted our family of 10 very comfortably, for a weekend of wedding celebrations! We are so happy to have chosen such a wonderful place to make some pretty special memories. Acadia View House is a terrific property! The views were amazing. Everyone in our group loved the house. It is very spacious and well equipped. We would rent this house again.

The amenities were plentiful. The location was wonderful. It was nice to have a separate bed for seven woman on a friends trip. The twin beds in the bottom floor had some hard mattresses and the bedding wasn’t as nice as the bedding in the other bedrooms. The other rooms were perfect.

We are three generations of family from the Washington, DC and New York areas, and Maine has been our shared summer gathering place for more than two decades. This home was completed in 2006 and is where our family comes together each year to hike in Acadia, eat lobster, enjoy the harbor views, and reconnect with one another.

Our family chose Southwest Harbor because it offered everything Larry and Susie loved most about Mount Desert Island: easy access to Acadia, beautiful harbor views, a quieter pace, and a true Maine village feel. After more than a decade of renting cottages on the island, they bought this property in 2001 and completed the home in 2006 as a gathering place for their children, grandchildren, and extended family.

This home is unique because it was designed by our family’s architect to support exactly the kind of trip many guests are planning: a large family gathering near Acadia with room for everyone to be together without feeling crowded. The house captures beautiful harbor views and offers multiple places to gather, from the screened porch and grill deck to the dining area and upper deck. For our family, it is the place where lobster dinners, blueberry crisp, stargazing, puzzles, card games, and big family meals have become summer traditions.
