House on the lake
Great house with a great location on Bass Lake. We met as a family for Thanksgiving and picked this location due to its proximity to Yosemite. It is is about a 20 minute drive to the South entrance and about another 45-60 minutes to the valley floor. The South entrance has great views and pullouts to see along the way of all the big attractions (El Capitan, Half Dome and two of the waterfalls). It was a great location for what wanted. The house is just a few blocks from the center of town where there is a resort, a market, and a few shops. Very easy to walk to restaurants, coffee, the marina, etc.) We stayed when the lake had already been lowered 50% (occurs ever November for PGE power production and to allow for winter runoff.) We were aware of this from the listing so no surprises for us. The house is on one of the coves so do not expect water by the private dock or directly in front of the deck. Even though the lake level was low, there were still nice views of the lake looking to the left. I'm sure the views are absolutely gorgeous in the summer! The house is exceptionally stocked with most everything you would need. I packed all sorts of Ziplock baggies, foil, glad wrap, parchment paper, knives, spices, coffee, and some specialty items for cooking Thanksgiving. They surprisingly had everything I had packed which is not the norm for short term rentals. They even had a meat thermometer and turkey baster! This is a great house and we would stay here again.
