Comfortable yet smaller condominium. This unit comes with every amenity that you need to enjoy your home away from home. NEWLY UPDATED!, however this unit does not have a dishwasher, fireplace or patio.
This is simply the best location in town with front door access to Sun Valley's ski lifts, bike path and the Big Wood River. Picking the perfect location for your stay in Sun Valley is important. Leave your keys in your condo and make your stay a pleasant and memorable experience. NO PETS ALLOWED IN THIS UNIT.

Best location

This is by far the best location and the condo was perfect for our family trip. Had everything we needed and was easy to get to town and the mountain.

Easy access to lifts and town! Great location

We enjoyed the experience. I don't think you can be closer to the lifts than this property. Pennays is well managed and taken care of.

You can't get any closer to the lifts than Pennay's

The manager and staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Pennay's is close to the lift and 5 minutes away from all the restaurants, markets and shops in the core of Ketchum. Internet, TV and a kitchen with everything needed for cooking.

The location is unique, located close to the River Run Base lodge and Gondola. Door to River run is a 5 minute walk, shorter than if using the parking lot. We were able to ski down to the Lodge most days. Our 2-bdrm unit was clean and cozy with a full kitchen, TV's, and internet. Because we rented the small 2 bdrm, one room had a Queen bed, the other a double Bed plus 2 bunk beds. Great for a family with kids. Bathroom was small. Overall we have no complaints and felt the unit was an excellent value.

The Best Ski Vacation Rental You Could Ever Hope For.

Reviewer Comments: When we go to Sun Valley, my family has been staying at Alan Pennay's place in Sun Valley, "Pennay's at River Run" for more than 20 years. There is no place we go to anywhere that has more character and such a wonderful feel for a ski vacation than Alan's wonderful condominium complex. We have stayed in multiple units, and in the last several years many of them have been upgraded and are very comfortable. When you get ready to go to the lifts in the morning, you can get a ride on the sleigh that is available to get you there in a minute or two. But even if you need to walk to the lifts, it is maybe a 5 minute walk to the River Run area. If you have the opportunity to stay at Pennay's do not pass it up! I have been skiing for 45 years, and there is no place I love more than Alan's place.

It was pretty clean, but definitely not spotless. It desperately needs new pillows and a dishwasher! Overall it was fine for our quick stay but would not be fantastic for more than a couple of nights. The location was good for River Run gondola access. It would have been nice if the mentioned guest sled was running- we didn't see it in use any of our 3 ski days.

River Run

I've never done a review but I must say that that Pennay's place is exceptional. My son and I did some spring skiing and had a blast. The location, cleanliness, and helpful staff were top notch. It's a unique place. Highly recommend.

Would stay again

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location. Three min walk to the lift, 10-15 min walk to downtown. Not an updated/modern place but I don't care about that at all. The mattress in my unit was old but I slept just fine and I'm a pretty finicky sleeper. It was clean and convenient and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My only gripe is that the walls/ceiling are super thin. If you are a light sleeper, I'd recommend booking an upstairs unit. That being said, I slept well because I sleep with earplugs in (my boyfriend is the one who was woken by upstairs noise). I would definitely stay here again and so would he.

Outdated overpriced unit

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented a 2 bedroom, one bath unit. Unfortunately, I was told only just before arrival that this was the managers unit, that it was older, had low ceilings, & no dishwasher and would be tight for the number in my party. Once we checked in, I was VERY disappointed. While it was clean and the one queen bed was good, there were issues throughout the unit: the bathroom was ultra tiny; the fans in the wall heaters were noisy (hard to sleep); the kitchen was tiny and the stove was a really old narrow electric unit where the burners weren’t even level, and there was only 1 rack in the oven. The interior was just old and dark. Most importantly, the one fire detector In the unit was broken. When we brought it to the attention of staff, she didn’t seem surprised and just said “you’ll hear them go off in the other units”. Unbelievable. Finally, there was thick ice right outside our door, making it dangerous to walk. Only as we were checking out did a gentleman start breaking up the ice. This unit should not be rented. If we ever return, I will rent a regular, modern unit....just any other unit EXCEPT #4.

There were exposed nails and screws. The carpet smelled. IT was really dark without natural lighting. There were a few lamps--with extension cords that one of my kids tripped on because it went next to the bed. We wanted a kitchen, but didn't use it at all because it was small and the appliances were so old. We will never stay there again and I will be much more careful before selecting a condo through that site again. The pics of the condo I was in were clearly not the ones that were displayed when I chose it.

Caveat Emptor

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were rented unit 4, last available and pretty much last available in town for the holidays. The good news is we had our holiday and had fun. I have no idea if unit 4 is representative of general Pennays upkeep. A weekend of solid maintenance attention would really help, along with removal of much of the junk further cramping the space. (Seriously, a baby grand using so much of the space?) Bedding in master was unchanged, but management got that sorted. Dishes were variably clean or greasy. Even this space could be much more with small attention and frankly not much expense. Again, I've no idea how representative this is of the property, but no second chances for first impressions, so I wonder.
