A wonderful vacation right on the water!

Our family vacation here was just awesome. The cabin had everything we needed and tons of extras. The owners truly thought of everything you want in a vacation home. Our pups loved the large flat backyard, and everyone loved being in the river. The swing in the yard was super fun, very sturdy. We spent every evening around the firepit, and all of our meals were outside on the porch. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were spacious, and the kitchen was extremely well-equipped. We will definitely book this cabin again in the future.

Log Cabin is a great place to stay

We spent several days at the Log Cabin. Right on the river. A very nice and comfortable place. We broought our dog and really appreciated how dog-frindly this place is - food and water bowls, leashes, a mat for the water bowl, towels for dogs. We really enjoyed sitting onthe deck and lstening to the river and the birds. Very relaxing. I highly recommend Log Cabin and New River Retreat in general.

The Log Cabin is a beautiful, well maintained home. We had a wonderful vacation reconnecting with family. Plenty of room for everyone . We really enjoyed sitting on the deck in peace and watching the river flow past. It was a much needed rest for body and soul. Our only suggestion would be to add a larger, gas grill. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us!

Perfectly relaxing stay on the river

Our stay at the Log Cabin on the New River was wonderful! The house was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. We had everything we needed, and we loved wading and fishing in the river just outside our door! We will definitely be back.

Immaculate house

Great house. Exactly as shown in the pictures. Very clean. The outside is great also. My dog loved the property too and enjoyed the dog bed that was there. It's much bigger & softer than his bed at home. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Quiet getaway

Perfect place for our family to relax! We fished, had a bonfire and went canoeing! There’s a few places around to eat and shop not far but they have everything to cook at the property if you wanted. There’s hiking and plenty of outdoor adventures nearby! The grill was a standard camping grill that’s by the driveway. Little small if you want to grill a lot of stuff. Property company was very quick with response to my questions! Definitely would come back to this property

Nice place, but one big issue

This place is nicely done, furnished, decorated, and was exactly as described. There was one major issue, however. There was an incredible odor throughout the entire house that could only be described as mothballs or some other chemical. We believe it was coming from the basement and was spreading through the house through the AC intake vent. There were about 12 Hot Shot No-Pest Strips in the basment (Dichlorvos) but could not verify if that was where the smell was coming from. We called management and they said they would check it out while we were out on the New River Trail and get back to us. We never received an update, and so we had to sleep with all of the windows open both nights with no explanation or fix. The smell made one of us nauseous, which we also told management. It was disappointing that they never got back to us on the issue. Please beware of this issue if you are going to book this place.

Hi Stephen - Thank you for the feedback. I am so sorry that there was miscommunication and the excessive moth ball smell - the owners had just set some out in their owner closet as they departed (which was the day of your arrival) and we were not made aware. We had left a message with a housekeeper who was cleaning a couple doors down to run over and remove them, but she must not have gotten our message and we didn't follow up - I am deeply sorry that we dropped the ball here. We have since removed the moth balls. I hope you were able to otherwise enjoy your stay - please contact our offices and ask for you Kate if you'd like to discuss this further and so we have an opportunity to make it right. - Kate

Good but not great

This was our 2nd trip to this cabin but this time, much different. The dishes were greasy and appeared unclean Washed all plates, glasses, utensils, etc before using. The TV streaming ( Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc) was almost non-existent. Also recommend they upgrade from queen to king bed. Dated with squeaky spring and no blankets with 2 flat pillows and stiff bed spread. Good points include view, jacuzzi tub, double shower, chairs on the deck, fire pit by the river, nice washer/dryer room.

Peaceful and serene log cabin

Beautifully crafted and appointed log cabin on 3 riverfront acres. The cabin was incredibly clean and well kept. Would definitely recommend as a peaceful weekend getaway!

Wonderful place to relax!

We really enjoyed this beautiful place! We felt how much love and care were put in building the cabin and keeping it very clean and so well organized. We appreciated everything that was done to make us feel very comfortable, relaxed and entertained. We would stay there again.
