Anniversary Trip

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was not very happy, the first thing was the misleading Gas Firepit. I was looking forward to sitting outside with a gas fire pit. It looked like it was a wood burning firepit. My husband and I are too old to deal with the firewood and clean up. Second the Master Bedroom, the bed was very hard on me. I was miserable. I can’t physically climb stairs but finally Saturday evening I climbed the stairs to check out that bed. It was more comfortable. So I stayed upstairs while my husband brought me everything I needed. The gas logs created at really bad smell in the house that ended up giving me a migraine, so that was not helpful. Then there was the no Wi-Fi. My husband loves to watch his racing on his computer and I play games on my tablet. This is how we relax. I really loved the hot tub, but there weren’t even towels for that. I’m glad I brought my own. Also, I am not from WA. I am from Monroe NC.

It was a nice place I enjoyed no Wi-Fi but it was hard to enjoy just satellite tv. I wanted to watch Netflix and other movie apps. The hall bathroom doesn’t drain well at all and the water doesnt get real hot in that bathroom. The master bathroom had great water pressure, very hot water and drainage was good. The dishes were all filthy!!!!! Pictures below and also A ROACH WAS CRAWLING ON THE BED AS SOON AS WE TOOK OUR LOOK AROUND. The bed in the loft was dipping in the middle very uncomfortable. The master bed was uncomfortable as well. The floors had a film on them had to wear house shoes or flip flops. Also not enough light outside at nighttime maybe some bulbs went out or just not enough set up, but other than that it was a beautiful view and a beautiful home.

The location was perfect, easy access to area attractions, but also private. The house was spotlessly clean. The hot tube and deck area was so nice, with a beautiful view of the mountains. Some suggestion to improve comfort: a better bed in the master bedroom, I’m not sure I have even slept, or tried to sleep, on a harder mattress, this is top priority as a traveler. Directions on how to use the fireplace in the living room. Supply firewood for the outdoor fireplace. Beach towels for the hot tub use. An updated coffee pot would be nice. Im not sure I would rent this property again because of the bed being so uncomfortable.

What a beautiful house and location!! Our trip was absolutely perfect from beginning to end! The hosts were just amazing, they communicated quickly and were so friendly and helpful. The view from the back deck is unbelievable. We enjoyed all of the scenery, hiking, fishing and shopping. Don’t hesitate! Book this place!

One minor issue was taken care of very quickly and it was easy to get in touch with management. Pull out bed was not the best, my kids just slept in the couch instead. Appreciated that it was stocked with toilet paper.

Viewing beautiful mountains from the hot tub was both peaceful and relaxing. Home was immaculate and had plenty of dishes and cookware as well as towels and plenty of extra perks. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful Mountain Getaway!

Our family of 4 (mom, dad, two teens 14-15) had a great stay at the "Birdsnest". The mountain views were great and a wonderful backdrop for breakfast, lunch or dinner and sitting in the hot tub.Everything went smoothly overall, no major complaints. Day 1, the fridge wasn't that cold, but after about 24hrs at the coldest setting, it had cooled down properly. The house was generally clean, however it felt as if the floors could have used a bit more attention in the living room, specifically the area rug in front of the couch.The furniture was comfortable, as were the beds. The kids shared the loft area, but did not use the pull out couch up there, instead sharing the queen bed. The king bed in the master was comfortable. Hot water was sufficient for 4 showers after a day of activities. We went hiking at Tsali trails and paddleboarded in Lake Fontana. We rented tubes and went tubing on Deep Creek. We also ziplined, rafted, and rented "duckies" a the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC). We had a great time as family without the distraction of WiFi (there is none) and extremely limited cell service (1 bar on AT&T - calls and texts could be made, but sending pictures or using data was very slow and spotty.)We spent about 4 of our evenings after dinner building the 999 piece puzzle - there is 1 piece missing!Note - the road/driveway up to the house is STEEP. If you're going there at a time that might see snow/ice, you need 4-wheel drive and maybe even chains.

Beautiful get away

Went up to visit my boyfriend and his mom while they are hiking the Appalachian trail. Great little spot to unwind and relax with an amazing view of the mountains.

Anniversary Getaway

Visit to Birds Nest

We were pleased with our lodging at Birds Nest. We couldn't get enough of the deck with the fabulous view. The house was very comfortable and suited our needs just fine. This was a wonderful place to stay and explore the western NC region.

The hot tub was not turned on for our stay Friday night and we could not use it. Too cold.2. There was a yellow jacket bees nest at the top near the roof and the bees were in the cabin. We had to call for service to spray to deter the bees from coming in the cabin. HOT TUB TOO SMALL!
