Hi, I’m Jenn — the owner of Welch’s Riverview Retreat.
Our home has been part of my family since 1972, and it’s truly a joy to share this special place with guests.
Some of my favorite ways to spend time here include stand-up paddling (SUP) on the river and lake, playing my ukulele, and simply watching the incredible wildlife that makes this area so unique. I’m passionate about travel, creativity, learning new things, and brewing a great cup of coffee. I especially love visiting all the wonderful coffee shops and restaurants that Marquette has to offer.
I'm so happy to help you experience the beauty and magic of this place!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento
This home first became part of my life in the mid 80's after meeting my late husband, who grew up here and had already fallen in love with the property. Over time, it captured my heart too.
The ever-changing moods of Lake Superior — from peaceful and calm to wild and dramatic — are always inspiring. Some of my favorite moments happen lying in bed in the master suite, watching the Northern Lights dance across the sky or listening to " "Gitche Gumee" (Lake Superior) howl during a storm.
It’s amazing to see the river and yard come alive with wildlife throughout the seasons. Eagles, beavers, otters, muskrats, herons, turtles, geese, and a variety of birds and squirrels are frequent visitors — and every now and then, even wild turkeys or a fox wander through the yard!
The location also offers easy access to Marquette’s great restaurants, coffee shops, local festivals, and vibrant arts scene, along with a short drive to Munising and the breathtaking Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. It’s the best of both worlds — peaceful nature and lively small-town charm.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
Our home is one of the few properties in the area that offers panoramic views of Lake Superior along with direct riverfront access, creating a rare blend of open-water beauty and peaceful river serenity. The property sits on over an acre of private land and features unobstructed views of the historic Sand River Bridge, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This spacious multi-level retreat is perfect for families or groups seeking a comfortable, nature-filled getaway. It includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a full kitchen, and multiple gathering spaces, including a dining room with stunning lake and river views. A 24x30 recreation room features a 15-foot solid oak bar, slate pool table, dartboard, and an electric six-person cedar sauna—unique amenities not typically found in most vacation rentals.
In addition to the private yard, guests are welcome to use select outdoor features located on a separately deeded one-acre lot next door, which the host also owns. While this adjoining lot is not part of the official rental, guests have permission to enjoy the firepit, volleyball/badminton court, and horseshoe area. The buildings on that lot are private and not for guest use.
This well-maintained home, built over 60 years ago, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with authentic Upper Peninsula charm. Set in a scenic rural setting, it’s a perfect place to slow down, enjoy the beauty of nature, and spend meaningful time with family and friends. While it doesn’t feature modern luxury finishes, it makes up for it with plenty of space, character, and a true U.P. experience. If you're looking for comfort, scenic surroundings, and a one-of-a-kind stay that reflects the spirit of the region, this home delivers.
