A charming country farmhouse set in a hamlet amongst the beautiful Langres countryside in South Champagne, a few kilometres from the border of Burgundy. This is our country retreat giving access to the gastronomy & history of 3 regions of France but providing a peaceful place to relax away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. The house is full of character with many original features coupled with modern comforts and has been renovated to reflect the authentic French charm and style of the property.

You are greeted with a large fully equipped farmhouse kitchen & separate double salon with woodburning fire plus 3 individually designed bedrooms each with its own private bathroom. Sitting in a wooded valley with uninterrupted views from every window - enjoy the magnificent surroundings in this lovely spot.

Comfortable & cozy in autumn

Very large house with beautiful views and in quiet area. Easy distance to shops and bakery. House was very warm and beautifully decorated, we would love to return!

A place to dream at

We spent 3 weeks at this wonderful place in a quiet, green landscape of grass, cows, berries, ways to be found, the milky way visible for it is really dark at night...Dijon is near, as is Beaune not far. However, just staying there was really good as well as exploring the sourrounding by bikes. Perfect place!

Lovely Peaceful Retreat.

Huge farmhouse with a bathroom for each of the three of us. Really quiet at the end of a tiny hamlet. We all said our beds were the most comfortable we've ever slept in whilst away from home. We'll miss watching the cows moving around from field to field. We found that very therapeutic! We're big nature fans, so we were very happy to see a nice selection of butterflies and other insects and birds, including a Hoopoe and lots of Red Kites amongst others. The little patio area was nice and cosy, and we enjoyed eating and drinking around the table there. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Brilliant

My family spent Christmas holiday at the farmhouse. The location and farmhouse was nothing short of brilliant. Charming, well appointed, plenty of space, wonderful neighbors. I’m definitely planning my next stay. Your hosts are very responsive so it made the experience even more relaxing.

A lovely old property full of original features set in beautiful countryside

We had a super time the property is quirky with big rooms and very well equipped. It has been restored very sympathetically and is full of original features. The area is beautiful, the countryside is stunning with lots of interesting places to go and explore. We particularly enjoyed visiting Troyes and Beaune, which are just over an hour to get to, there is also plenty to do nearby, lots of walks, the lake which you can walk round and various water sports to try too.

Amazing Property & Location

We have rented many houses in France and this one is still at the top of the list. In fact we've rented it twice and can't wait to go back. The house is well laid out and each of the bedrooms has an en suite bathroom. Although in a small hamlet, there is a secluded area off to the side for dining outside with views overlooking the neighboring farm (and the occasional cow). If you are looking for an authentic French country experience this is the property for you.

Excellent base for the Haute Marne region

This was a good property in which to holiday. It was comfortable, spacious, well-equipped, and an excellent base from which to explore the lovely Haute Marne area, and even beyond down to Mulhouse and Basel in Switzerland. The hosts provided a most useful introduction sheet.The reason we haven't given the property a 5-star rating is because its Vrbo description noted there was a garden. This is inaccurate - there is no garden beyond a tiny area for a table and chairs by the front door. What appears to be a garden is a grassed public access street running between the property and farm fields. Not very busy mind you, but it was public and was used by a local farmer in his car and a few other people on foot.

Logement spacieux et authentique.

Le salon dispose d’un feu de cheminée avec du bois de chauffage en abondance. Les chambre sont grandes et comfortables. Le supermarché n’est qu’à 3 km. Belles promenades autour de la propriété.

Authentiek huis in zeer groene en rustige omgeving

Op zich prima, maar we vonden de omgeving te saai. Weinig te doen in de directe omgeving. Dijon is een prachtige stad, Langres stelt weinig voor. Het huis en de meubels zijn oud en verwacht geen luxe. Wel sfeervol en heerlijk rustig en groen. Wel schoon. En goede omgeving om te racefietsen

Vorsicht vor diesen Eigentümern

Zunächst schien alles nett. Leider sind nahezu alle sitzmöbel total durchgesessen und gehören auf den Sperrmüll. Das Grundstück ist nicht umzäunt oder privat und so hatten wir permanent jemanden im Garten. In 6 Tagen u.a. 4x den Gärtner. Eine versprochene Rückerstattung kam now

Bauerhaus Villegusien-le-Lac

Wir hatten eine tolle Woche im Juli in diesem wunderschönen Haus. Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig an einer kleinen Ortschaft in direkter Nähe zu einem kleinen ehemaligen Jagdsitz. Die Nachbarin war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Haus entspricht voll und ganz dem Inserat und unseren Erwartungen. Die Inneneinrichtung war sauber und stilvoll. Die Besitzer hatten alle Besonderheiten des sehr alten Hause schriftlich kommentiert und erklärt, so dass auch antike Möbel bzw. Fenster und Türen sehr gut zu handhaben waren. Die Küche war vollwertig ausgestattet, so dass das Kochen auch viel Spaß machte. Die Badezimmer waren sehr sauber und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und Toilettenpapier, Seife und Duschgel standen überall bereit.. Die Betten waren sehr frisch und sauber bezogen. Es fehlte uns an nichts!!! Wir genossen die Stille der Umgebung, beobacheten beim Essen die Vögel auf dem gegenüberliegendem Feld und machten Ausflüge in die Region (Dijon, Langres, Quelle der Vingeanne, Lac de Vingeanne, etc.). Wir haben uns sehr gut erholt und kommen gerne noch einmal wieder!

Perfect stay

We came back for our autumn break after staying here before, as had such fond memories of this tastefully decorated and comfortable farm house. We were delighted to find that after three years this is still the perfect autumn holiday home: beautiful surroundings, safe for the kids to roam around and close to shops/bakery and beautiful Langres.

Wonderful holidays...

My two sons (13 & 16) and I spent a wonderful holiday week in the great house with an idyllic garden. On the one hand we enjoyed being at home, cooking, playing games, reading, painting and just relaxing. On the other hand, it was fun to explore the surroundings with small towns, restaurants, castles, lakes and mills. We felt very, very comfortable here in the tastefully furnished house and the beautiful rural surroundings. Thank you very much Gavin and Shelley

Winterurlaub mal anders

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Woche gleich am Jahresbeginn in diesem schönen Haus. Das Haus liegt in einem kleinen Weiler, von dem aus man schöne Spaziergänge machen kann. Es liegt unheimlich ruhig, obwohl man nur zwei Minuten mit dem Auto zum nächsten Supermarkt und zur nächsten Bäckerei hat. Das Haus hat die Aura eines alten Gutshauses, mit vielen originalen Elementen: angefangen bei den wunderbaren Steinböden über die Treppe ins Obergeschoss, Holztüren mit alten Armaturen bis zu den urigen Kaminen, von denen wir den im Wohnzimmer täglich in Gebrauch genommen haben, dank des reichlich vorhandenen Eichenholzes. Wir haben uns unglaublich wohlgefühlt, weil das Haus so eine charmante, behagliche Atmosphäre verströmt. Auch in der Küche hat es uns an nichts gefehlt (außer vielleicht kleine Löffel)... Der Ort liegt so, dass man in relativ kurzer Zeit in Dijon ist (Musée des Beaux-Arts ist einen Besuch wert!) oder in der kleinen Stadt Langres, dem Geburtsort von Denis Diderot; lohnenswerte Ausflugsziele gibt es also genug. Schön am Haus ist auch, dass jedes Schlafzimmer (es gibt deren drei) ein eigenes Badezimmer angeschlossen hat. So kommt sich niemand in die Queere. Ein nettes Detail ist auch, dass das Auto in der Scheune stehen kann. Wer also einen ruhigen Urlaub in einem komfortablen Haus mit historischer Aura inmitten von schöner Natur verbringen möchte, dem sei dieses Feriendomizil wärmstens empfohlen. Wir haben es jedenfalls sehr genossen.

Mooi, oud appartement vol karakter in rustige en groene omgeving

Super fijn verblijf gehad. Fijn dat alle drie de slaapkamers een eigen badkamer heeft en beneden een ruime eetkeuken en aparte woonkamer is. Was schoon en netjes. Super goed contact met de eigenaren en fijn dat ze twee babybedjes hebben kunnen regelen zodat we deze niet zelf mee hoefden te nemen. Buiten het appartement kun je direct de natuur in stappen en niet te vergeten de weinige maar lekkere wijnen die bij de boer te koop zijn. Vergeet alleen niet zelf handdoeken en wat wc papier mee te nemen

Magnifique semaine au calme

Belle adresse pour des personnes en quête de quiétude et de plaisirs simples. Verdure, chants des oiseaux, coccinelles et belles promenades au programme. La maison est jolie et très fonctionnelle. Nous y avons passer une semaine zen et ressourçante. Merci Gavin et Shelley
