We visited La Quinta for Christmas week this year. Our kids are in Utah and Colorado and looking for somewhere warmer and my wife had recently had hand surgery and said she was not cooking or decorating this year so the Palm Springs / La Quinta area sounded like a great idea.Check-in at the La Quinta resort was very easy. The home is located in PGA West, about a 5-10 minute drive from the resort located in the gated Signature neighborhood near the Stadium and Nicklaus course clubhouse. To make a long story short, we absolutely loved the property, the location and the set up. The kitchen was outstanding, with chef level gas cooktop (with a built in griddle area that was great for making pancakes) and double ovens. The large sectional in the living room fit everyone comfortably.All of the bedrooms were good sized and very comfortable and the bathrooms were nicely appointed.We did not use the pool given the time of the year but the back area with the covered seating area, pool and grill were really nicely done and we will use when we plan a return trip in spring or fall.I really liked the location as well. While it was 5-10 minute drive back into La Quinta and a 45 minute drive back to Palm Springs for various activities, it allowed a little separation from the hustle and bustle. We used the house as a home base for day trips out to Joshua Tree National Park, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and a couple of days of golf. To be honest, we liked it so much that we started looking at real estate in PGA West. Getting home and running the impact of California state income taxes cured the idea of retiring out here but we will definitely be back regularly for vacations!
